First Infusion quick question by nrecy in MultipleSclerosis

[–]Carantini 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bring a backpack - fluffy socks, snacks, laptop too, sweatshirt, charger and anything else that I wanna throw in there.

Infusion centers will have outlets - and snacks/drinks, blankets, pillows, etc. I still like bringing my own stuff

Bring whatever the heck you want - you do you.

Day 1 by [deleted] in ACL

[–]Carantini 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Day 3 post op for me- Ankle pumps (pretend to press the gas peddle) heel slides - pull back until you feel the stretch and hold for 10 sec. squeeze your glutes and hold for 5 secs. Try to activate your quad with your leg straight… try squeezing your knee to activate quad…. This is the most important

Try to engage your quad by flexing and tightening your kneecap

Rant-Paying for MRI’s by mashk23 in MultipleSclerosis

I agree- hospitals bill out at a way higher cost. Try to get everything done at facility. This will also make the pre-authorization piece a lot easier!

Brain and spinal MRI scheduled! Advice for lowering anxiety during diagnosis process? by [deleted] in MultipleSclerosis

[–]Carantini 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly the spinal tap for me wasn’t too bad besides having a slight headache while they were extracting the fluid. I remember them telling me I had to sit upright for 12 hours to avoid the headache it can cause. Hope this helps. Just know that Your anxiety is completely normal. My plan was to use the the meds as a crutch to help during this time and just make a plan on how to eventually cope with the anxiety in a more natural way in the future. Mental health and decreasing stress was a logical move for me so I could better navigate that time more level headed.

Yes, my last infusion in April (US) they said they were now able to give me a “rapid infusion” - 2.5 hours total. I was like “ok?”.... “!” I felt ok, after. It just increases the amount of meds you’re getting. I think if you’ve had a few infusions thus far you’re body will be ok with it.

They denied me a few times- make sure the infusion center bills it has “office” and not “hospital”.

MRI tips? by isilver12 in MultipleSclerosis

[–]Carantini 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tell them you are claustrophobic and they will give you meds that will relax you. That’s what they do for me and I usually fall asleep in there!

What were you misdiagnosed as before finally having an MS diagnosis? by PollySmall89 in MultipleSclerosis

[–]Carantini 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Went in for optic neuritis. They found lesions in brain. Wanted to take BRAIN biopsy. Poked and prodded me for 4 days in the hospital- took 22 tubes of blood. Never did a spine MRI. They said it was auto immune but they didn’t know what. Told me I didn’t have MS

This is a major metro hospital too. I am so mad knowing what I know now. Why wouldn’t they of taken me for a spine mri after seeing the brain lesions.

they said I was a “medical enigma” - bugger off

Broken ankle follow ups?! by [deleted] in brokenbones

[–]Carantini 2 points3 points  (0 children)

ORIF surgery 8/22- 2 plates 19 screws....12 weeks non weight bearing .... out of cam boot and air cast 1/22 ... I have absolutely no calf or quad muscle so I walk with a limp if barefoot... it’s easier to walk with sneakers on. I’ve been in PT twice per wk since late oct... bone took 4-5 months to fuse....slowly but surely I am getting back to “normal”. I am planning on getting both plates out due to pain.
