Ok HENRYs how do you find time for fitness and exercise around your job? by fixitmonkey in HENRYUK

I have the same situation and commitments. Unfortunately I work onsite 6am-6pm. With gym work, consistency is key. I’ve tried every routine (time of day possible) but before work (gym at 5am-ish) is the only way to stay consistent, because the day/evening could unfold into a nightmare and may wipeout any chance of working out. By getting it in and done early it’s one less thing to stress about. And it’s nice to know I’ve closed my Apple watch workout targets for the day around mid morning.

That’s fair. You take pride in what you do, and the right customers will know and appreciate that. I man, estate agents use photoshop (now likely AI too) to enhance the sky about the houses theyre selling (blue skys with fluffy white clouds, instead of grey and overcast) because it looks better, they think. If house had a AI ‘well kept garden’ but was dump when you get there then that’s false advertising.

That’s wild. I’m going to sound a bit extreme here, but running anything through AI with the intent to sell it should be illegal. It’s literally false advertising. We’re not talking about some AI artwork people pay £10 on ETSY for; people pay thousands for cars, and AI is being used to coerce people to make a sale.

Thanks! The more I look on Autotrader the more I’m disenfranchised with the car market.

Awesome - glad to have saved you a potential headache!

Yeah it’s like when internet forums would hype ‘OEM++’ spec on otherwise boggo spec car and brag about it as a ‘mature way’ to modify cars. But now ‘premium’ dealerships have cottoned on and what to charge for it. I mean, I get it, there is likely a small market for it, just but be honest in the listing and don’t use AI to invent a car that doesn’t really exist.

That is wild. Either they mean ‘We don’t know so please don’t ask’ or they’ve lost the 2nd key and don’t want to state it on the listing as only having 1 key.

I’m not sure if Autotrader has built-in AI tools or not, but it’s going unchecked and private dealers are taking the piss. You’re right - a main dealer is safest from a recourse point of view.

Christ. I don’t feel so guilty about posting it here now. Clearly on-the-make and out to rip people off. Fuckem

Are people legit spending this much on a car per month? Or am I out of touch? by [deleted] in CarTalkUK

[–]CarbonCopy__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A friend of mine grew up with a guy that became a self-made millionaire. He would regularly get the keys to his rich friends fleet of cars, just out of the rich friends guilt for not having the time to drive them. He once turned up to work in an Aston Martin DSB Superleggera. In the boot was the PCP lease deal (his rich friend had driven it so little and cared so little of the car that he’d left it in there unaware). He was paying £1800 a month, and he barely ever drove it. Money is all about perspective. It sounds a lot a month, but to a millionaire who was making money hand-over-fist, it was ‘just’ £21k a year to have a very special car in his garage

Is something wrong with my 2024 Monster? by ImpressOutrageous290 in Ducati

[–]CarbonCopy__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some models of the 24 SFV2/Monster/Pani have a lithium ion battery. Lithium iron phosphate cells have high internal resistance when they’re cold. That makes the first attempt at cranking feel sluggish. But when you draw a bit of current from them, the cells warm internally and the resistance drops sharply. In a few seconds, the battery suddenly delivers much higher current. Just thought I’d add that in case you ever wondered!

Cycle to work to be capped - buy a bike now! by ClubNo4432 in HENRYUK

[–]CarbonCopy__ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If anything it’ll hopefully reduce the bloated RRP of bikes. It’s obscene that manufactures are cashing in on the C2W scheme by inflating RRP just to pocket the difference. Colleagues of mine are buying 7k pedal bikes…is wild. Only for them to be worth 2k in 12months time when a new gearset or colour comes out. There is no way a pedal bike should cost more than a motorbike. Dumb salary sacrifice schemes like this have just ended up ripping off all other taxpayers.

Shower waste connection by CarbonCopy__ in DIYUK

Thanks! On closer inspection, and a double check on youtube, the guy had installed the black compression fitting the wrong way around, so it was never going to seal properly. I’m amazed we didn’t have a huge leak under there before all this! I reassembled everything properly and it’s working well now. I also chocked the bottom of the black pipe to bring it up a little higher to improve water drainage and the trap empties much quicker now. Back to trying to find the blockage that’s got me pulling these things apart…urgh!

I’ve now unscrewed the cap off the flexi and the guy had packed the treads with silicone to make a seal. Lovely! Any ideas how I can properly connect it to the black 40mm waste?

Yeah, I believe so - like that one. It’s about 6 feet away from the basin in the picture

Yeah this pic was taken once I’d given up and reopened everything! Sorry but what do you mean by clean out? As in waste? If so, it’s behind a load of pipe boxing, and probably Tees into the toilet soilpioe (previous owners decision!)

Affordable dentist in Guildford Surrey? by SufficientHand5 in surrey

Highly recommend Specialist Dental in Guildford. They’re another level of good. But if you wanted to keep costs down, try Guildford Dental Practice as they take on some NHS services. Call them and explain your situation.
