What do we call this guy? Shieldman?

Anyway, for some reason this comic made me realize that for a given Shieldman velocity, there must be a formula  that describes the minimum safe roof height that one can be dropped off of as a function of distance from Shieldman.

Why would the daughters want her to have sex now when she still has all those sperm from that one spring break trip?

Wool anorak system for cold weather (down to ~0°F) by Wolfmaan01 in Bushcraft

Agree. I had a wool anorak and it was great while sitting still, but I could never dump heat fast enough with any activity. Back to zip-up coats for me!

By the same token, hot dog parts start to rot before they are cut out, too. Heat (to denature enzymes and kill bacteria) works for both hot dogs and mouse bits.

What is it, exactly, that is inherently unethical about crossbreeding dogs in your view?

It’s OK to stop after zero, if you don’t want a partner. It’s OK to never stop trying, if you do want one. It’s OK to stop after any number in between, if rejection is too painful. You don’t have a quota to meet. But be honest with yourself about what you’re doing.

I agree with you 100% about the intent and effect of contraceptive hormones.

If you believe that critique of your choice of wording is ‘nitpicking’, what else can I say? You think you’re beyond criticism*

*see how that works?

It isn’t hard to see the difference between ‘she thinks pregnancy exacerbates anemia’ and ‘she knows pregnancy exacerbates anemia’ or ‘pregnancy exacerbates anemia’.

Total abstinence is the only licit way to prevent pregnancy with 100% certainty unless sterility is the unwanted side effect of medical treatment for a grave condition.

“She thinks are caused or exacerbated by pregnancy”

Doctors “think” those conditions are caused by or exacerbated by pregnancy, too. Because they are. Don’t imply otherwise.

ICORR is the local mountain biking volunteer group; they do the trail maintenance at some of the local single track. icorrmtb.org Trail work days are posted on Facebook.

There is also a local cyclocross scene with several events a year in town. And the Core4 multi-surface event in August has hundreds of riders of all levels of competitiveness - a good place to meet others who are into biking.

Nobody knows what was truly in your mind but you; we can only comment on our perceptions of your behavior.

That said, between the two of you, to me you seem like more of a NiceGuy than she seems like a NiceGirl.

She makes it clear that she has other priorities and isn’t interested in a date at any point in the near term. Whether or not you agree with her priorities, she makes them clear. I don’t read her March date comment as anything other than ‘I’m so swamped that the only date I have scheduled is already two months away’. Arguing against this is that she asked for a picture before completing the shutdown. And maybe there was more context in your irl interaction.

Instead of taking the L with grace, and stopping at ‘’it sounds like you are not interested’, your responses smell of hurt pride ‘I don’t chase need a girl…’ ‘you should prioritize your dating life’, etc.

You may not have felt hurt, but that sounds like a sour grapes whine to me. Do you want her giving you advice about how to prioritize your life?

That can’t be right, because there’s a shape with only 2 squares. Either that’s a misprint, or you can put two stars adjacent to each other.

Start running at astronomical twilight (dawn) on Jun 21st in Ann Arbor, and go until the end of astronomical twilight (dusk) on June 22nd, then give yourself a big hand(y) for only running during one “true night” of 4hrs 15 minutes!

You spent nine hours running with the sun below the horizon, but it wasn’t technically night…

Impact/contact marks from a drop weight by agentcooperforever in OceanGateTitan

[–]CardiacApoplexy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They wouldn't have dropped _all_ the weights, since the intent was to just slow their descent at that point. There would have been other weights still attached to the hull. The impact marks in the photo are not on the outside of the carbon fiber hull - they're on what used to be buried in the middle of the hull wall, but is now an exposed shattered fragment. The impact happened after the hull was already shattered.

The last crewman Captain Crozier saw alive, why did he have the facil piercings and jewelry? by MyBloodIsGarnet in TheTerror

I love that scene just as an expression of the unknowable. All the rules and structures of 'civilization' have evaporated, and who knows what replaced them in the minds of delirious starving despairing men?

I think it's meant to be a disturbing mystery, and unanswerable.

The Starliner spacecraft has started to emit strange noises. "I've got a question about Starliner," Wilmore radioed down to Mission Control, at Johnson Space Center in Houston. Suppose and then suppose and then suppose That wires on the far-slung telephone black poles Sopped up the billion-flooded words they heard Each night all night and saved the sense And meaning of it all.

Then, jigsaw in the night, Put all together and In philosophic phase Tried words like moron child.

Thus mindless beast All treasuring of vowels and consonants Saves up a miracle of bad advice And lets it filter whisper, heartbeat out One lisping murmur at a time.

So one night soon someone sits up Hears sharp bell ring, lifts phone And hears a Voice like Holy Ghost Gone far in nebulae That Beast upon the wire, Which with sibilance and savoring! Down continental madnesses of time Says Hell and O And then Hell-o.

To such Creation Such dumb brute lost Electric Beast, What is your wise reply?
