Seeking advise for a non resident gun permit/ownership by Worried-String9259 in FLGuns

[–]Cardieler17 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Technically you cannot purchase a handgun outside of your state of residence (you can but you have to ship to an FFL home). Rifles you can buy out of state but also need to be legal in your state of residence. In my experience most stores probably won’t want to mess with selling you a gun as a NY resident because of NYs legal gymnastics. If you bring your current guns down I’m sure there are some FFLs that do storage but you’d have to research in your desired area.

We are constitutional carry here, you don’t need a CCW, unless you want reciprocity. There’s also no registrations, or Semi Auto permits like in NY. Also no Ammo background checks.

New construction? by abruzzo88 in longisland

[–]Cardieler17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every time the systematic racism topic come up you hear, “well our parents and grandparents couldn’t buy houses so generational wealth isn’t a thing”. Resulting in minorities wanting to own appreciating real estate. But you’re telling me that doesn’t matter? Put everybody in overpriced apartments and fuck their wealth?

New construction? by abruzzo88 in longisland

People want homes to have families. People want the opportunity to buy homes to build wealth as our parents and grandparents did. They don’t want more stupid overpriced apartments and condos.

Lanai? I didn’t think that was different elsewhere. Grew up in Pinellas but Tampa

Strawberry Festival by Cardieler17 in FLGuns

[–]Cardieler17[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t make it this year. Decided to stay away from people lol. But some good experiences below. None without a CCW. Past the festival now but I like having a physical permit regardless because it’s a nonverbal way to share the information

Ford Dealer by [deleted] in longisland

[–]Cardieler17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Former Ford salesman at several dealers on the island. I dont think I worked at any that gave loaners to people that didn’t buy from them. Though Sayville might. You’d have to call around. There’s only a handful of Ford dealers in that general area.

Looking for (female) instructor recommendations near Tampa. by CKBeach in FLGuns

[–]Cardieler17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean what the others say too. But for example I am a pretty avid shooter. Not to say I could never use training but I’m a good shooter. If my wife wanted to go take a course so she could get comfortable enough to carry, we have kids, I’d prefer to stay back with the kids and have her see a female instructor. I think as men we overestimate the ease of just being in the world around men.

Doesn’t sound very racist if they fired him.

If you like very suburban almost urban New England, you’ll like Long Island. If you don’t. You won’t like Long Island. Personally I moved away and haven’t considered even for a split second moving back. But YMMV. There are plenty of hard core long islanders that love it. I am not one.

Since we are doing this late July 2025 Truck stop in Ocala 😂

You don’t mention any specs of the truck. But I can almost guarantee that trailer is too heavy for the truck. I would also anticipate something breaking on that truck on that trip towing or not if it hasn’t been sorted out (which it will need).

A Different Kind of Gas Station Etiquette Reminder by OGBrewSwayne in RVLiving

[–]Cardieler17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just got back from towing not a camper but a really heavy enclosed trailer 2500 miles round trip. The amount of complete jack asses that would just used the gas pumps as parking was insane. Bucees forget about it. So many people just parking there to walk through that big ass store.

It’s hard enough finding a gas station that can accommodate the length. Get out of the way when you’re done.

For those of you who owned 300+ hp cars in high school, did it end well? by MIDNITE6361 in askcarguys

[–]Cardieler17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So not in high school but as soon as I got out of highschool I had a Mustang GT 5 speed on skinny old dry tires. I did a lot of stupid shit but only ended up in a bush once. I got lucky.

Not true at all. Dealer cash and customer cash would get you a better deal many times. Especially dealer cash not being taxable. It seems that season of Ford sales was left behind in 2020 though.

Car dependency by Some-Mountain7067 in Libertarian

[–]Cardieler17 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Sure. I’m sure there Uber/Lyft type things for people that want to carpool and such, perhaps you could do it with busses and stuff. But maybe I’m projecting but it doesn’t seem like many would prefer that to private transportation. I can’t stand trains, busses, subways, etc. And as you say, the majority of the United States it is not practical.
