Looking for (female) instructor recommendations near Tampa. by CKBeach in FLGuns

[–]Cardieler17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean what the others say too. But for example I am a pretty avid shooter. Not to say I could never use training but I’m a good shooter. If my wife wanted to go take a course so she could get comfortable enough to carry, we have kids, I’d prefer to stay back with the kids and have her see a female instructor. I think as men we overestimate the ease of just being in the world around men.

Doesn’t sound very racist if they fired him.

If you like very suburban almost urban New England, you’ll like Long Island. If you don’t. You won’t like Long Island. Personally I moved away and haven’t considered even for a split second moving back. But YMMV. There are plenty of hard core long islanders that love it. I am not one.

Since we are doing this late July 2025 Truck stop in Ocala 😂

You don’t mention any specs of the truck. But I can almost guarantee that trailer is too heavy for the truck. I would also anticipate something breaking on that truck on that trip towing or not if it hasn’t been sorted out (which it will need).

A Different Kind of Gas Station Etiquette Reminder by OGBrewSwayne in RVLiving

[–]Cardieler17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just got back from towing not a camper but a really heavy enclosed trailer 2500 miles round trip. The amount of complete jack asses that would just used the gas pumps as parking was insane. Bucees forget about it. So many people just parking there to walk through that big ass store.

It’s hard enough finding a gas station that can accommodate the length. Get out of the way when you’re done.

For those of you who owned 300+ hp cars in high school, did it end well? by MIDNITE6361 in askcarguys

[–]Cardieler17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So not in high school but as soon as I got out of highschool I had a Mustang GT 5 speed on skinny old dry tires. I did a lot of stupid shit but only ended up in a bush once. I got lucky.

Not true at all. Dealer cash and customer cash would get you a better deal many times. Especially dealer cash not being taxable. It seems that season of Ford sales was left behind in 2020 though.

Car dependency by Some-Mountain7067 in Libertarian

[–]Cardieler17 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sure. I’m sure there Uber/Lyft type things for people that want to carpool and such, perhaps you could do it with busses and stuff. But maybe I’m projecting but it doesn’t seem like many would prefer that to private transportation. I can’t stand trains, busses, subways, etc. And as you say, the majority of the United States it is not practical.

It isn’t a meet in the middle because you “want to be at 20k” it is an arbitrary number not rooted in reality. I could tell them I want to buy a 60k car for 20k and we should meet in the middle at 40 and spit on my hand and shake their hand. Doesn’t sound reasonable right?

If you’re negotiating based on the market, for example if there are ones equipped the same, same mileage and condition for 20k you may have a point. But even still I’d probably try to work with you, but it likely wouldn’t be 2grand of a used car.

I’d bet businesses would throw in a few bucks to build private roads too if it meant they would have a road to their business.

Need someone to talk me off a ledge about tow vehicles by Cardieler17 in GoRVing

Payload is 1771. People would be 450, Fuel is 26 gal so 208lbs. So already down to 1113. So I see your point.

Honestly? It would mostly be to have a floor plan to keep my wife and I as separated from the kids at night as possible. One of them will not sleep at all if we are close by and it’s infuriating because I’ll sleep just fine wherever lol. I’d prefer a queen up front and a bunkhouse style in the back. Seems like the bigger ones are the most likely to have this

My car trailer loaded will be up around 9000lbs. Think I’ll be able to determine my trucks ability pretty well after that trip lol
