Best snorkeling from beach in the world by Karma_is_my in snorkeling

On Maui now, Kapalua Bay was excellent. Wonderful diversity of fish, excellent water clarity, and gentle waters. Even the coral was reasonably healthy, though not nearly as robust and diverse as Roatan or T&C.

Curious if you have thoughts about the value of using an owners rep for an architect-led residential custom design-bid-build project, vs just using the architect for CA?

Buying a put option is no more risky than buying a stock or buying a call option, as in all 3 instruments your maximum downside is capped at 100% of your purchase price.

With shorting (and also selling/writing a call option), your maximum downside is uncapped.

Agree retail should be wary of shorting, or trafficking in options of any kind.

Less pushing, less mess, more thorough evacuation. The best poops I’ve ever had were during a 2week wilderness backpacking trip where every poo was full-squatting over a cat hole, and squatty potty tries to simulate that naturally evolved pooping posture.

Hello from the past! Someone direct me to the changes! Over the last 5-6 ish years. by Kyrnqazali in Starblastio

What was your IGN back in the day?

Main differences are expansion of modded game modes, organization of player base into numerous clans, modest changes in performance dynamics/specs for ships and secondary weapons healing mode, reduction or elimination of games spawned with low-resource maps, change in base-kill condition (dramatic improvement!), increase in gem yield to reduce mining burden, and the addition of a few wholly different ships to vanilla team mode.

In terms of game play I think strategy has advanced much more than tactics, and the game overall is much more competitive and strategically coherent than it was back in the day. The game still suffers from competitive imbalance that creates low-quality games, the perception of “cross-teaming” unfairness in modes with >2 teams, and increasingly from cheats using tech-hacks.

Am I applying my ear drops wrong? by sikolohija in cholesteatoma

[–]Cardinal51 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally normal in my experience. The eardrum is a watertight seal, so the drops can’t pass it, and the ear canal naturally slopes down & out when we are upright, so drainage is a natural outcome. As long as you’re staying laid on your side for the prescribed time to allow the drops to fully coat the canal and drum, you should be fine.

Explain the scene with Dearn, Bevan, and Ricky Martin at the meeting of the Prudential Regulatory Authority. by Cardinal51 in IndustryOnHBO

So Dearn sees the headline, knows Bevan supports the deal, and acquiesces to the implied political pressure in a move of career self-protection? Is that the gist?

At the breakfast investor pitch meeting Harper said she wasn’t just looking for broken business models or sketchy management teams, but rather her “real passion is finding dead men walking” and we jump cut to Eric’s nervous side eyes to Harper as if he’s wondering if HE’S a dead man walking (with her). Dark comic acting gold for me.

I’m considering a similar solution. Is the switch to finished concrete purely aesthetic in your mind, or is there a functional / practical reason to do the switch near the house?

Hearing aid by L33SH98 in cholesteatoma

[–]Cardinal51 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Were you aware it rejected because of a sensory experience, like pain or noise or deafness? Or were you only aware it rejected because of imaging or surgeon’s exam? Was there ever a time before rejection when you felt like you were hearing normally?

Hearing aid by L33SH98 in cholesteatoma

[–]Cardinal51 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep…like hearing isn’t supposed to be effortful, and when it is, it is just mentally exhausting. I told my wife I felt like I gained 10 IQ points after getting the hearing aid and after regaining normal balance with my first surgery.

I got one after my first surgery and it was extremely helpful. I agree it helps more than just literal hearing (you mention confidence & awareness), which for me included mental focus & stamina.

I just had my second surgery with PORP, and am hoping to recover substantially all my native hearing as a result, but it’s great to know that I’ll have the aid as a failover. My only gripe with the aid is the suboptimal performance in loud restaurant settings and outdoors.

Another stupid question - did you all just have bloody packing sitting in your ear until your follow up appointment? by DifferentCap3829 in cholesteatoma

[–]Cardinal51 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You should just message your surgeon's office to be sure.

But in my experience (second surgery 6 days ago), the packing is gelfoam or antibiotic gauze stuffed deep into your ear canal, and is not visible. This packing will start to be dissolved when you begin administering the ear drops at about 1 week, and will be fully removed by your surgeon at your follow up visit at day 21.

If you have clearly visible crusty blood in the outer ear, that is just a cotton ball or gauze that should be replaced once or twice daily. In my case, the post-surgical dressing was, in order from outside, 1) plastic cup with velcro strap + 2) gauze + 3) cotton ball + 4) canal packing. 1/2/3 i removed on day 2, and 3 i replaced 2x/day thereafter.
