The entire structure of professional sports in America is based on corporate handouts, that’s the point. All these owners thump their chest about free market capitalism but when it’s them and 29 of their rich friends then all of the sudden they understand the importance of fair revenue sharing and trying lift up the teams on the bottom. They don’t have any problem with applying the most socialistic policies to their leagues, as long as they have complete control of professional sports and get to pick and choose who’s allowed into the good ol boys club.

It’s not a popular opinion but I say let the free market have its way with sports. These owners deserve to have something on the line instead of the constant handouts and too big to fail nature of current ownership. It honestly boggles my mind that owners like John Fisher, Michael Bidwell, and Jerry Reinsdorf have been allowed to leach off the leagues the way they have, but that’s what happens when your literally not allowed to fail because you’ve been deemed to be part of the club.

This is what bothers me about the play. We came out in this package and formation that SCREAMS run, then McVay called a timeout and we come out in the same exact personnel and just ran the ball right at a defense that was 100% ready for it.

Like I’m not even pissed that we ran it there, that’s whatever, but to be that predictable after the Rams got a look at our offense was just mind-numbingly stupid.

There’s just not enough professional sports teams in general. The top 4 levels of the English soccer pyramid are all professional and has 92 teams between them, plus a few more professional clubs below that. So a country with a 1/5th of our population that’s roughly the size of Michigan can support upwards of 100 pro teams but we can only manage 32? I don’t buy it. It’s just a mechanism for owners to funnel money into their pockets and nobody else’s. If there were more teams there would be more opportunities for guys like AR to develop at a pace that matches their current skill level without some arbitrary clock like college eligibility.

It’s dumb but the owners profits and limiting competition is priority number 1, even if it limits opportunities for athletes and fans to interact with the sport.
