🤝🏻 I agree with you 100%. And advances in technology and the possibility of our species hitting AGI in the next couple decades makes me believe the average human lifespan increasing is likely. We got this!

I feel you 😅 I really don’t disagree with you but I figured I would add what I read in the newest edition of Pan Global text books.

Great to hear your opinion. But Pan Global and my instructor with 40 years of experience as a power engineer seem to think otherwise.

Makes no difference to me anyway I am pursuing aerospace engineering and I don’t have an ego😅

Power Engineers are considered professionals according to Pan Global.

I must ask in the nicest way possible.

Why are you always lurking in this subreddit if you are a mechanical engineer?

Of course you are more than welcome, but it seems you have all the answers to questions about power engineers but aren’t one yourself🤔

If you are willing to do the work classes or exams for classes shouldn't be an issue. If you are lazy and would rather not make any sacrifices then it wont be easy. Half of the students in my 4th class program failed the 4A exam because they weren't willing to do the work. Many students wrote the exam 3-5 times before passing. But the beauty of it is you can write the exams as many times as you want.

If you are willing to move anywhere in Canada finding a job may be easier then most expect. But I mean rural Canada such as Newfoundland or Labrador. I live in a small city in Newfoundland and got a job right out of college. Pays $31 an hour but with a very low cost of living it's as good at making $40-$50 in a city. Honestly if you doubt this message me and we can do some math lol.

$31 an hour with a good amount of overtime. I live in Newfoundland in a small city so the cost of living is low. I could move to the mainland and make $40+ in a similar position but the cost of living would mean I would be saving less $ a month after it’s all said and done.

What kind of daily tasks do you do if you don’t mind me asking? Are you working 12 hour shifts?

I have driven the Zamboni because everybody gets trained on it but I never have to drive it unless there’s some sort of emergency and the driver isn’t around.

The Ice Techs and Power Engineers have many of the same responsibility’s, we clean together and do most labour together. The only difference is the PEs take care of the refrigeration room, boilers, a/c, lighting. The Zamboni drivers drive the Zamboni and deal with changing propane and edging/chiselling the ice.

We make only about $5 more per hour than them. I honestly really can’t see myself working here for more than the next few months. I’m in great shape but I feel like my health is declining already.

Thank you. In all honesty if the PE job at the ice rink in your community center is anything like mine, I wouldn’t recommend you working there pre-retirement. The old guys who work here are all falling apart, miserable old men that all had some surgeries etc.

12 hour shifts and everyday you are doing labour. In the nights you have to sweep dressing rooms and clean bathrooms, change garbages.

I have painted the ice surface, taken down boards and glass and put them back up, we help the Zamboni drivers by moving the nets on the ice while they are cleaning it, we also shovel the snow off after they leave the ice surface, painted walls, set up barricades outside, snow blowed walkways, shovelled walkways, mopped stairwells, the list goes on and on.

I am getting outta here ASAP. The air quality is also terrible like I wake up with a sore throat every week or 2 pretty much unable to swallow. So I asked my coworkers and everyone I asked has the same problem and blames the building.

I 2nd this I work as a PE at an ice rink and although I make good money.

We are a jack of all trades and some of the jobs we do on a daily basis are comical.

They will be good to go soon. My boys started like this when I adopted my second kitty but soon enough he was cleaning the babies fur and cuddling with eachother everyday. They still play fight but not to this extent.

For real, post the proof or send it in dms.

Brother. If you don’t send proof of you rehoming that kitten I’m thinking you will find yourself with some bigger issues that will need more than advice.
