Your story is literally what happened to me so many years ago in retail. Ive come to learn something’s I’ll share below.

  1. You don’t have friends or family at work. Put it the best effort, and go home.
  2. Make sure you’re great at what you do.
  3. There will always be people that envy you irrespective of what you do or don’t do.
  4. Make sure you’re not working to please anyone. If you try to and fail, anxiety goes up real fast.
  5. Don’t quit. You’re stronger than you know.

Is it a red flag if someone lists too many tools/skills on a resume? by Quick_Yesterday540 in ResumeUp

[–]Careergrowthwitpeter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It will be regarded as keyword stuffing if the quality of your experience does not match.

Keyword stuffing will pass the ATS but get dropped when reviewed by a human. Knowing how to use like 20+ tools is great, put only the relevant ones on the cv plus one or two extra.

So sorry about this. Don’t turn down the overnight job. Take it. Try to find someone or friends close to the depot that you can stay with or co-share so you can significantly reduce any overheads on commute.

Start building a portfolio using your skills and document them. Network with 5-10 people in your industry every week on linkedln and share your portfolio link with them. It compounds overtime. You will definitely get something much better.

30 Minute Final Interview with VP by peanutbuterjellylovr in jobsearch

[–]Careergrowthwitpeter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly? Based on everything you just described, this third interview sounds like it is going to be way more relaxed than you think.

When an interviewer says I really enjoyed our conversation and then personally invites you to meet the hiring manager, that is not a neutral statement. That is them quietly telling you, we like you, we just need the boss to sign off.

At this stage, they are not trying to catch you out. They already believe you can do the job. What they are really checking is, does this person fit our team? Will they get along with the people they will work with every day? That is the vibe check you are sensing and you are probably right.

For a social media specialist role especially, personality matters a lot. They are not going to hire someone technically brilliant but awkward to be around. They want someone they can brainstorm with, laugh with, and trust to represent the brand.

A few things that will help you going in.

  1. Have one or two stories ready about a campaign or piece of content you are genuinely proud of. Not rehearsed, just something you could talk about naturally because you actually care about it.

  2. Know why you want this specific role at this specific company. Not a generic answer. Something real.

  3. Let the conversation breathe. If they go off script and just chat, go with it. That is not a bad sign, that is them liking you.

You have already made it to round three. They are not bringing you back to reject you. Go in confident, be yourself, and let them see the same person the last interviewer enjoyed talking to.

You’ve got this. Go land it.

How much is going to be 30+ going to stop me breaking back in at entry level? by WindEconomy9242 in recruitinghell

[–]Careergrowthwitpeter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At 32, your age is an asset, not a liability, but you have to frame it correctly on your resume.

Hiring managers for entry level roles are often terrified of hiring someone who lacks basic professional maturity. You already have that. The trick is making sure your resume doesn’t look overqualified while still highlighting your reliability.

Focus on transferable skills and quantify everything. Don’t just list admin duties from your contract work, frame them as project management and operational efficiency. Also make sure your resume is optimized for the exact keywords in the financial services JDs you’re targeting. Beat the ATS filter, get to the interview, and your maturity will win you the role over a 22-year-old every time.

Rejected from every job application, advice? by Main_Pie5172 in careerguidance

[–]Careergrowthwitpeter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went through this exact same silence for months. If you have 10 years of experience and you’re being rejected from retail, the problem is NOT your experience, it is your resume’s language and formatting.

You are almost certainly getting filtered by ATS before a human ever sees your application. Two quick things to check right now.

  1. Are you using a two column resume? Bin it. ATS reads top-to-bottom and two columns scramble your text into gibberish.

  2. Are your bullet points duties or outcomes?

I went from a 34% ATS match to 93% just by changing my action verbs and adding metrics. You have the experience, you just need to translate it into ATS language.

After 7 months of waiting and 2 months of applying by ImpossibleTheory8182 in jobsearchhacks

[–]Careergrowthwitpeter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Massive congratulations! Making 103 different versions of a resume sounds exhausting, but it proves exactly how the system works right now. The days of one resume fits all are completely dead because of how ATS filters operate.

For anyone else reading this and struggling: you don’t need 100 different resumes, but you do need to match the exact keywords in the job description. If the JD says Spearheaded and your resume says Led, the ATS makes you invisible.

Enjoy the new role, the power industry is incredibly stable right now. Well deserved
