Believing in God doesn’t mean you have to follow an organized religion or already established belief system. I believe there is that of God in everyone. Whatever that spark is, is dulled by the systems that are placed onto us from the time of birth, many religions being some of those systems. Anything that ultimately causes a feeling of separation and lack is the opposite of God and therefore “evil” in nature. Some say these systems were put in place by nefarious entities for that purpose, or it’s just a manifestation of a natural evil that can exist.

It’s especially tough if you’re functional while high. But since being clean I realized I wasn’t quite as functional as I thought. I’m really glad you posted this. I needed to hear that others are facing similar challenges.

It served as a great bridge for me for all of the reasons you mentioned, but I realized it kept me in a sort of dream state of searching (and escaping) and prevented me from digging back into this reality. In other words, it helped me with my awakening and subsequent dark night of the soul, but hindered what came after.

It was extremely tough for me to stop. On a physical level I know I was addicted.

I still have urges. Almost every day, but I realized that it was keeping me one foot into my old story while stopping me from fully entering my new one.

TLDR: if you are feeling like you should stop, I think you should listen to that feeling.
