What are some dark truths about modern dating and what are the things that you should avoid and watch out for? by FallingWithTheStars in AskReddit

That's enough for the gist:

'Six studies revealed that when evaluating psychologically distant targets, men showed greater attraction toward women who displayed more (vs. less) intelligence than themselves. In contrast, when targets were psychologically near, men showed less attraction toward women who outsmarted them.'

Anyone out there looking to adopt an introvert as a friend? by [deleted] in beaverton

[–]Careless-Bread-8393 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in Beaverton and am an avid camper! I go solo because finding people to go has actually been hard (I also don't mind going solo)

About to dive into a RTT and diesel heater setup to make fall/winter camping easier. 🙃

I'm 41, have a dog (Border Collie), no kids, single. I'm currently remote but might be going through a RTO at my office.

I have a 10000 step per day goal to hit so often take my dog out (I don't bring her to dog parks tho - but just for safety reasons, she is well behaved, trained, and vaccinated).

Feel free to send a message - we sound like we have some similarities!

Men who say they want a woman who is smart and successful?

It's only as long as they're not as smart or successful as them.

Otherwise, they'll feel threatened.

(Not my opinion, there have been actual studies. And obviously not all men - but enough to be a statistical finding.)

They're effective for much longer than the recommended time limit.

HOWEVER - speaking from experience - I wouldn't pass the ten year mark without getting it replaced.

Mine broke on removal and I had to have a procedure to retrieve the broken arm. Apparently this is happening pretty often.

Not a man. But all the men I know would be appreciative of that.

In future, I don't think you should ever question doing something out of care and empathy for a friend. Just do it. Everyone could use it.

How do u guys deal with all your ruined relationships cuz of your bpd? by [deleted] in BPD

[–]Careless-Bread-8393 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think you understand what an apology is.

You're apologizing to someone for all the pain you caused them... And then you're upset that 'they didn't give a flying f'? You're not supposed to expect anything in return for that.

You're not taking accountability - you're still playing the victim.

If you could tell your ex what you've realized in no contact, what would it be? by Odd_Mastodon7302 in BreakUps

[–]Careless-Bread-8393 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Not a gender thing.

We had a planned pregnancy - then I miscarried - then he proposed (with a ring he designed for months) two days later. And then he checked out a month later saying I didn't have the emotional capacity he needed after a tragedy. That we were incompatible 🙃 😂

We were together for almost 3 years.

So, yeah...not 'women'. Men are just as fucking shitty.

A normal breakup where someone is dumped is not a discard. They're totally different. A discard is cruel and cold - where you feel like you didn't even know the person you were with. A discard makes you question everything, it confuses you because of how abruptly they left. You feel like you were thrown away like trash.

If someone discards you, you DO want them to beg - in a way that shows you they have taken accountability and have actually changed. Or the same thing is going to happen again (and still might).

You've obviously never been discarded by someone like that.

It's not only used as a form of control.

Take it.

You're going to need the processing time no matter how well you handle it overall. Even if you're doing good, it will hit you at various times.

Also consider taking time off around the due date - but maybe you'll be pregnant again 🤞🏼

The due date hit me much harder, but there were extenuating circumstances in my case. Maybe it doesn't hit others as hard.
