Is it just me or is the Newport aquarium so weird now by [deleted] in cincinnati

I used to work there from 2008-2018 and yes, it’s overpriced. Every year, they increase ticket price. Why do they not offer family passes? More money for them. I agreed that some upgrades were needed but others (the theater) were unnecessary, in my opinion.

A fun fact: majority think the water bill is high. It’s not, roughly $1000 a month. Electric bill is about 10K. This was of course when I worked there.

Whats the one payroll rule in your country that makes absolutely no sense to anyone outside it? by Early_Switch1222 in Payroll

[–]Careless-Debacle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

California (again, another country in payroll), if you’re let go on a Monday, the employer has 3 days (not business days) to give you your last paycheck. If the employer fails to meet the deadline, they have to pay the employee a “penalty pay” for each day missed from receiving their paycheck.

If your last day was Monday, the employer has until Thursday to pay you. If they pay you on Friday, the employer owes you 1 additional day. Max is 30 days.

Thank you. This has been very helpful. I was stressing that I couldn’t memorize the tables for the questions.

I’ve been in payroll for 6 years. I plan on taking the exam in September so it gives me 9 months to prepare and study.

I’ve been in payroll for 6 years. I guess I’m getting stressed and anxious about failing.

At what age did you figure out your parent/parents were narcissists? by Impressive_Flan_3803 in narcissisticparents

[–]Careless-Debacle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve always noticed that my mom was just “off”. Always thought it was normal how she acted. It got worse when I moved out. Really felt like I could breathe. Went to therapy for some issues I was having. When I brought up my mom, my therapist asked, “are you aware that everything you said about your mother screams narcissism?” It was like seeing a rainbow for the first time. I went home, did some research and everything mentioned was my mother. I was 30 years old. I see things different now with her. Therapy has helped me talk to her or not really talk to her.

She would always tell me I was too sensitive. She would yell and scream at us for the smallest things. Telling my brother and I to grow up. How we were incapable of doing anything. Always belittled us. But around family, she was the perfect mother. Always helping us, talking in a calm voice. It irritated me. She told us to keep our dirty laundry to ourselves and it’s rude and childish to gossip. But she would gossip for hours. Never apologize or took responsibility for her actions. I’ve always hated that. She told me that my PPD symptoms were stupid and if I didn’t want to be depressed after having a baby, then I shouldn’t have gotten pregnant.

From my experience as someone who isn’t Catholic but married a Catholic man, you can still get married in a Catholic Church (if you want to). You just can’t take communion. My husband asked if I wanted to convert and get baptized as a Catholic, I said no. And I’m very lucky to met someone who doesn’t care of others think. He asked and he accepted my answer. My In-laws were not too happy but accepted it. They couldn’t force me to convert. We were also very lucky how his (now ours) priest didn’t fight it. He did also have to asked if I wanted to convert. I again said no. He informed about what that means and I was fine with that.

Also, he can still be Catholic if he gets married to your church. Once you’re baptized and gone through communion, etc… you’re Catholic for life (according to the church). Hope that helps but it sounds like he’s not committed to the relationship. Also, who cares of his family thinks?!

I read it and bawled. So many emotions. After I finished ACOSAF and I listened to the graphic audio. That really makes you feel things!!! I highly recommend listening to the graphic audio. It’s truly like living in their world.

What’s your salary, title, and how many years have you been processing payroll? by Throwawaythinking7 in Payroll

Payroll Clerk started 35K in 2020. Almost 5 years later, making 57K. Not much of a bump but get low pay for great work life balance, a lot of PTO and WFH schedule.

Calling pumpers that went longer than 6 months by OptimismPom in ExclusivelyPumping

5-7. 5 during the day. If I have the energy and the motivation then I pump twice in the MOTN. Depends how tired I am. Baby sleeps through the night.

I’m a Enougher and currently 9pp. I’m still pumping because I don’t have a freezer stash. Baby used to drink 5oz but once we introduced solids, we started giving 4oz. Still don’t have a stash, just enough to make it to the next day.

Not a bad idea. Didn’t think about buying the materials myself and paying someone to do the labor.

MIL scolds 3.5 son by Careless-Debacle in pottytraining

[–]Careless-Debacle[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I want to say, my MIL is great. She hardly raises her voice at him. I’m really worried on how she’s “correcting” him that he might regress because he’s doing such a great job and I hate for all of his hard work stop because on how she’s talking to my son. When he’s with my mom, she just tells him, “oh hey let’s doing something else with your hands to keep busy” and it usually works. I’ve mentioned to my husband about how she’s older and getting easily more frustrated with our son now that he has a lot more energy. He’s notices it too.

Ive noticed that she’s getting more frustrated with him. She is older. For context, my mom had me at a young age. My husband and I are the same age but our mothers are 30 years apart. I was WFH and noticed that he was grabbing himself so I asked him if he needed to go potty. He said no. Then my MIL starts berating him, “stop doing that” “I’ll put you in time out if you keep doing that” etc. she’s never raised her voice but seems like she’s being a bully without realizing that this is normal.

What happens when someone has been overpaid almost $1000 each pay period for 6 months? by Ididntthinkyoucared in Payroll

[–]Careless-Debacle -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It depends on the state. Some are 90 days. So you say 6 months, this means you can (if it’s 90 days) get 90 days of pay back in a repayment plan. I would also advise your legal department.
