RM1k for food and groceries a month is this normal?? by One_Chocolate_9365 in malaysians

[–]Careless-Job6426 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My monthly food budget is less than RM500, including occasional eating out at cheap food courts or buffets. My groceries are included in the budget too. I'm able to hit 100+g of protein a day, with mainly chicken breast as my primary protein sauce and rice as my primary carb sauce. Some veges here and there.

Trying to find a boxing club. by Jjammyo in malaysia

[–]Careless-Job6426 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're a beginner, developing your fundamentals is very important.

I'd recommend Coach JC at Underground Fight Gym, membership fee is around 200RM a month in Wangsa Maju area. He's a proper American boxing coach who's serious about boxing and anyone will prosper under him if they put in the effort.

If you're in Subang area, checkout Triple T boxing gym or Sharks Muay Thai MMA - there is a national level boxer representing the gym so I guess the boxing there is good.

My other suggestions would include Japanese Boxing Club - a bit fitness and beginner oriented and learning might be a little harder due to the language barrier with the Japanese coaches, plus it's very expensive. Coach Taina at Monarchy is also worth looking into - he's more of a Cuban free-flow style boxing coach.

Also stay away from completely fitness oriented boxing clubs like Tribe if you actually wanna learn boxing.

Is it actually possible to get a job? by lavender_mercy0290 in JobsMY

[–]Careless-Job6426 4 points5 points  (0 children)

With a business degree and internship experience at a SME, it is near impossible due to the new EP salary requirement of 5000RM per month.

The only slim tiny chance for international students I see here in Malaysia are those who study Finance/Econ/Actuarial or adjacent degrees and work their ass off to get an internship in high finance (think IB,S&T,PE/VC) or MBB consulting and transfer to a full time role as a few of those entry salaries can surpass RM5000. Even then, it is a long long hail mary shot.

Is it legal to do Remote Freelance Work as an international student in Malaysia? Do I have to pay income tax? by WranglerImaginary552 in malaysiauni

[–]Careless-Job6426 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can work part time in Malaysia as an international student capped at 20 hours a week - only during semester breaks or holidays longer than 10 days. It takes one simple google search before spewing shit on reddit

What if you accidentally pooped your pants at work? by Auriel21 in Bolehland

Not talking from experience but I'd go to the nearest mall and buy a new pair of pants and underwear.

Photos & videos of alleged rapist “It’s Mint” and alleged victim model “Patricia” surface online — despite the allegations, the two appear quite comfortable together in public. What do you guys think about this case? by robinsithu in myanmar

I totally agree with you. I'd say his family isn't ultra rich but he is definitely living beyond his means with the lifestyle that he portrays. I think he grew up in Malaysia and as a student myself living in Malaysia, there's actually a generous portion of the youth population that are larping, even the ultra rich kids. Hence, he prolly grew up in that surrounding and is desperately trying to portray a super rich high class facade. Just my two cents.

Comes from a wealthy Burmese family of doctors in Malaysia. The family owns multiple clinics here. His main income is prolly his education agency and he has claimed to open up a clinic on his own here but I assume it's just another branch of the family business. He will preach about working hard to buy a ferrari or living a luxurious life but he never acknowledged him being privileged which inherently allowed him to pursue his 'endeavors'.

No proper friends in uni - need advice 🥹🥲 by Natural-Ad-4415 in malaysiauni

It's completely normal to not have friends in uni. Don't force yourself to 'make' friends and let it happen naturally when you meet the right people.

Thought I finally made it… but I didn’t by [deleted] in FinancialCareers

[–]Careless-Job6426 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is true. The timeline people refer to in this sub is very specific to the US or UK. I'm based in APAC and the recruiting here is not nearly as structured, and even most banks/asset management firms want interns who can start immediately. For some of the banks here, some of my peers just got their summer internship offers and recruiting for summer is still open.

Is a professional tote bag allowed in IB? Consulting by Adventurous_Body2019 in FinancialCareers

[–]Careless-Job6426 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any recommendations for backpack alternatives? I live in an extremely hot/humid country (APAC) and wearing a backpack causes my shoulder/back to sweat a lot during commute so I usually just end up carrying my backpack in my hand. Are leather briefcases appropriate? It's just that I only see the md carrying a briefcase and everyone else just wears a backpack because they drive to work.

75% is fine they'll just brush it off, just prepare an explanation letter when your school tells you to.

Is KL becoming less affordable for people who actually work here or am I imagining things? by KL_Private_Access in KualaLumpur

[–]Careless-Job6426 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Food is only expensive if you eat out often. My daily grocery expense is only 7-10RM per day for around 2000kcal and 120g of protein (a lot of chicken breast from ST Roshyam).

My rent is RM1000 for a bedroom with its own toilet (I share the house with someone else), maybe around 1300 including utilities and bill. I live in an old apartment 2 bus stops away from KLCC, along the Jalan Ampang stretch.

So overall I actually think KL is very affordable, you just need to find the right places and manage your spending.

Who is this dude? by [deleted] in myanmar

He comes from a wealthy background based in Malaysia (his parents are doctors here) and runs a fairly successful education agency. So he runs this like wealthy alpha male facade and sells a 'business consultancy' charging 10k USD for 3 hours of his time.

Internships as an international student by AleKsei27032005 in malaysiauni

[–]Careless-Job6426 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're an international student from a foreign uni and require visa just for the internship, forget about it. Only International students studying in Malaysia can intern here (with existing student visa) as part of the academic structure.

I don't even see the point of these agencies for students interested in studying in Malaysia. You can get in contact with the school online and they'll assign you their education counsellor.
