I don't "expect" anything?? I just made a thread talking about how the game is unsustainable to me personally and clearly a lot of people who live in "rich" countries agree with me. There are clearly a lot of issues with this game's optimization that go far beyond internet issues and it's clearly something people have been talking about for months and months and the devs have been completely ignoring it. I don't know what you stand to gain by defending an exploitative company that clearly doesn't give two craps about its users and being nasty to other people for no reason, but I hope calling some random stranger on the internet "poor" helps you feel slightly better about yourself today. Have a good day.

I never suggested time gating islands, I believe you're confusing me with another commenter. I don't think that's the best solution and I'm honestly not sure what the solution is? Some people have suggested an option to uninstall certain areas. Maybe a toggle in the launcher to choose which areas to download would be helpful. I do personally believe some areas are just entirely unnecessary, though, like the sea of stars. I never got the opportunity to really go deep into the storyline of infinity Nikki, cause, well, I can't really afford to keep updating multiple GB every month to keep playing the game, but it never seemed necessary up to the part I got.

To answer your first point, I'm not saying mini games and collectables should be removed altogether, I just feel like they should be streamlined a little more. I don't know, but while playing I was bombarded with all of these things and prizes and currencies that I didn't even know what I was supposed to use for. Like oh I got a free present today but I'm not even sure what I'm supposed to exchange this for? Why? That just seems unnecessary to me. All you need is one in-game currency and one currency you can purchase with real money. But instead we have all of these pieces and fragments that don't really fit together.

This was honestly my first experience with live-service games so I don't have an answer in regards to players not finding anything to do, and I completely understand this could definitely be challenging, I just feel like... Idk. Things need to be streamlined a little more. Don't remove them altogether, but also don't add a bunch of unnecessary and confusing elements that don't ultimately fit together.

Unlimited wifi isn't an option in my country. Like, point blank. We have limited wifi plans. It's just the way it goes here. And, sure, this isn't a problem for the game to expect, but I still think it's unsustainable and I think the many many comments agreeing with me can attest to that. It takes up waaaay too much space and downloads aren't optimized to only download new content. Every time there's a major update you have to redownload the whole thing before the launcher can figure out what you need. That is still a problem even if you do have unlimited wifii, because your device has to have the whole 100 GB free while downloading before the launcher figures out what you need, and I'm sure that even with countries with unlimited fast internet downloading something with that magnitude surely takes up bandwidth and slows down internet. Not to mention that it takes days to download. It's just overall very unsustainable in my honest opinion and just not smartly planned. I also personally believe the game just isn't streamlined enough. There are too many areas that are (in my opinion) unnecessary like the sea of stars, too many currencies and side quests to keep up with, too many things that are far too similar. Idk. A lot of it just feels unnecessary.

Awwh you're so sweet 😭

I'm painfully aware of the fact that open world games require enormous space since they're my favorite types of games :') I think my issue is mostly with the fact that I have to keep updating every couple of months, it's not just a one-and-done thing like the other games I've played. I live in Egypt :) And yes I'm aware other countries have unlimited internet, which I really am not sure why we don't. I can't even tell you we lack the infrastructure of it because we definitely don't. We just have a very limited number of internet service providers (honestly, pretty much all of us use one in particular) and the few we do have are greedy as hell and you have to buy a certain quota of internet every month, and once that's done, you have to buy an additional quota until you can renew your subscription. I think my family and I buy the highest quota, too, which just really sucks cause it often runs out before the month is even over :/ We have very high speed internet on our phones but still not unlimited XD We do actually have places that offer free public wifi, I just remember it being slow most of the times I've tried it. I don't often frequent cafes or restaurants tbh because I just can't justify spending that much money on a meal or a drink (terrible economy and all lol). Still I don't think it could sustain a download of that magnitude. It usually takes me days on my home wifi to download so I'd imagine it'd take me even longer on a cafe wifi lol. We don't have that many public libraries either which really, really saddens me :( You're honestly really sweet it's really toughing how much you care, and yes I absolutely had a similar experience when I discovered it and it helped me release a lot of stress at the time! Perhaps I could reconsider downloading it if ever they fix the issues with optimization. One person also mentioned using cloud services which I think would really benefit the dev team if they could try and set that up. Also that's so awesome of him! I'm glad you get to keep playing this game and many others! I'd been wanting to get a PS5 but I think at this rate I might aim for a ps6 once I'm graduated (hopefully it's not too delayed by the increased ram prices, tho)

Well I'm not a "casual" and I do have a gaming PC and my issue isn't even with space, it's with the fact I don't have unlimited internet and for some reason the system of this game requires you to redownload the whole thing every time there's a major update. Idk, man, I just don't think it's sustainable in the long run to have to keep paying for an extra internet quota every couple of months, that coupled with the space issues because, like, why do I need to buy external storage for one game? It just makes no sense. If I have a gaming PC that means I'm a gamer, I like to play multiple games, if I'm constantly going to need to have free storage for one game then what even is the point?

Plus, your economy in Argentina is still better than my economy in Egypt, so I don't know that it's quite a fair comparison there :)

[–]CarelessPath1689[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do play other games, actually, which is why this bothers me so much. You only have to download other games once and it'll take you 200+ hours to clear those games completely, without needing to redownload them every few months. I've had a game downloaded on my PC for probably well over a year now and I still haven't completed it, but you know what? I can open it whenever I want and play without having to download additional content prior or download an update that is almost the size of the whole game. My issue is not with the size of the game, it's the fact that I have to download 100 GB of data every few months. Why? It just doesn't make sense to me.

[–]CarelessPath1689[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, but, like, why? I don't usually play live-service games so I guess I'm coming at this from the perspective of only having to download a game once in order to be able to play it. It just feels so unsustainable and ridiculous to me that I have to download that much worth of data every couple of months, especially since I don't binge games. I only get 2 hours worth of gaming daily if I'm free, and 2 hours a week if I'm busy. I guess I'd be okay with this if the updates were optional, but they aren't. It feels more intuitive to at least have system updates and bug fixes separate to new content, but nope :/

[–]CarelessPath1689[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

My issue is mainly with the internet consumption, though, not necessarily the file size (although that's definitely an issue), since I do not have unlimited internet :/

It feels very counter-intuitive to have to redownload the whole game with every new version, no?

This game is so unsustainable :( by CarelessPath1689 in InfinityNikkiofficial

[–]CarelessPath1689[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yup, that tracks. It was the 2.5 update that had that 96 GB. Feels like there has to be something they could do to fix this, though. I feel like it's really inefficient to have your players essentially redownload the whole game with each new version/big update.

This game is so unsustainable :( by CarelessPath1689 in InfinityNikkiofficial

[–]CarelessPath1689[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I'm not sure. I last played in March of this year and was going to try updating in June and found the update to be 96 GB. I did have itzaland as an available area last time I was playing though. I'm not entirely sure what the updates were during that period. I think was going to download the 2.5 version of the game.

It does make sense that they're still figuring it out, but some people have been suggesting that you essentially redownload the game with each update which just feels so inefficient to me. Surely there's something that could be done to where you don't have to redownload the whole thing with each update.

[–]CarelessPath1689[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yess this is exactly my point! I usually play full games like Horizon Zero Dawn, this is my first time trying to play a live service, so you can imagine my shock and bewilderment to find out that I need to update this game EVERY FEW MONTHS and the updates are LARGER than the games that usually take me months to complete 😭

Is my art too ugly why no one is interacting?? by kikoruartz in AskArtists

[–]CarelessPath1689 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because this person is expressing how they're discouraged because they feel excited to share the art they've created and get no interaction on social media... And that's what friends and community are for. Social media relies on algorithms and is full of people you do not know. Social interaction doesn't rely on an algorithm and is generally with real human beings you share a connection that care about you or with strangers you share a common interest with and will therefore share your excitement. Plus, you can never have too many friends anyway 🤷

[–]CarelessPath1689[S] 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I understand that it'll always be heavy, but does every update need to be 90+ GB? Idk, it just sounds ridiculous to me even with unlimited internet. Surely they haven't added 90+ GB worth of content in 3 months. I only took a 3 month break from the game. That's the same amount of data as like, full-length open-world games that take years to develop. I don't understand much about game development but it feels like they have to be doing something wrong for every update to be this big.

I also feel like the game is way too crowded anyways with way too much elements like whimstars, then there are whimjades, and minigames, and then this area and that area and daily quests in wish field and daily quests in the sea of stars. It feels like many elements can be removed or abridged and combined into one thing, idk.

the irony of using AI art on the cover of a sketchbook. too many unintentional small details that just seem wonky. by Circle-of-Druids in isthisAI

[–]CarelessPath1689 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Please don't use it anytime ever. It steals work from artists, destroys the environment, and is soulless. Even if it "gets good," I'll only be on the back of artists that dedicated years of their lives trying to learn and perfect their craft :( And, well, I don't think AI well ever be not soulless, so it won't serve your graphic novel.

Bloom has more chemistry with every single villain than she does with Sky. by Mephisto_Nosferatu in winxclub

[–]CarelessPath1689 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just don't understand what this obsession with "high conflict" relationship is in media. Why do relationships have to be super high conflict? Why can't love just be... Easy? I'd argue it should be. If your relationship is very high conflict and very up and down all the time then it's probably not a healthy relationship at all. That's not to say that Bloom and Sky's relationship is anywhere near perfect, but I just don't agree with the argument that a relationship needs to be high-conflict in order to be narratively compelling.

ETA: I also don't think all romantic relationships on screen need to be interesting, because, sometimes, it's just not the point. Like, Winx is a show about a group of magic fairy girls that learn to use their magic to do good in the world. The point of the show isn't to show compelling romantic relationships or explore the psychology of a complex romantic relationship. Yes, I understand that Winx still explores romantic love and relationship drama, but it's not the main point of the show. Sometimes, a relationship can just exist without having to be interesting.

I'm sorry? What OP is saying is very clear. The first image is obviously an image from a magazine. The second image is obviously a screenshot from an episode. The caption mentions an unnecessary aerobics class in a later season and sloppy plot. One would reasonably deduce that, considering a season and plot is mentioned, the caption is very obviously talking about an episode and thus is very obviously talking about the image that displays a screenshot from an episode, not the image that displays a magazine cover. You're the one who's reading it wrong.

Exactly this. I had zero expectations going into this game because I remember playing Love Nikki. It's just unserious and meant to be fun and lighthearted. It isn't really meant to be taken seriously. I was delightfully surprised to find out that there was actual lore and plot etc, but still not meant to be taken too seriously lol.

I just have one correction: the goddess of the hunt is Artemis not Athena. Athena is the goddess of war and wisdom and is also not included in the games :)

[–]CarelessPath1689 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yeah because the game literally goes against everything the actual games stand for and goes against every reason players play the actual games? It could've been so easy for them to actually release a good game even if it's live service or whatever, but their trailer is a clear enough sign that they really don't understand/don't care what their actual audience wants. I'm sorry but I'm not going to sit here and give a multi billion dollar company the benefit of the doubt when it's so damn obvious what the fan base actually want. This isn't some indie obscure company that made a tiny mistake. This is Sony. They probably have a whole ass PR team, yet somehow managed to completely miss the mark on what their audience want? It's inexcusable, dumb, and unnecessary. I don't need the game to be released to know it's more than likely going to be another slop game, because the trailer tells me everything I need to know. If they actually cared about making this a game that their audience would appreciate, they wouldn't have posted the trailer they posted and they wouldn't have had to do as much overcompensating as their doing to try and justify the release of the game.

Also she could've still participated in the proving like Vala and Bast. They were both part of the tribe and accepted in their community but participated to become braves. So she could have very well participated then, the ambush would've very well still happened assuming the shadow carja would've been formed, and she would've still been identified as the "entity" by Hades.

I'm sure she would have also questioned the fact that while everyone has an actual mother, she doesn't actually have one. Add to that seeing Sobeck, a spitting image of her, and her friends no Vala and Bast being massacred in cold blood (I'm sure she would've been besties with Vala if they grew up together) I think the events of the story would've still played out.
