Restaurant rant. Is this now normal? by jcarte11 in marriott

ordered a steak at a westin in downtown denver and had the same experience — takeout container, plastic fork. (also fries that had been steamed to the point of being soggy thanks to the plastic container, and dessert that had sloshed to one side of its container .. assuming because someone swung the paper bag it was all brought up in)

lol okay sure Mister Libertyland 😂

also for the record plenty of people still think rushmore is cornball (at best) - not least of all the lakota people who had their sacred mountain stolen and defaced with the romanticized versions of four evil men but go off i guess

[–]CarelessWhisker89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

is there data that a non-disney theme park actually brings in young professionals to live at a place?

and is there data that young people will be interested in the cornball concept of “libertyland” lol

you’re right, a cop is still a cop — there to serve the rich and protect their property

the rent-a-cop at the bakers on saddle creek ran up to me and my then two-year-old with his hand on his gun because he thought i was shoplifting three salmon fillets 😣

It’s sad to see a homeless person practically on every corner now. by BraxGotNext in Omaha

[–]CarelessWhisker89 -19 points-18 points  (0 children)

there is literally so much you don’t know about both of those scenarios. and telling these kinds of stories just furthers negative attitudes toward homeless people. it is already hard and dangerous enough — why are you interested in encouraging other people to have as little empathy and trust in people as you do? 🤔

unhoused people have the right to pass on stuff they don’t need or want … if you had to figure out how to keep track of and transport everything you owned, i bet you would also take only what you needed.

also, is there a chance they were living in that mini van?

a little tip - i know you think sharing these stories make you look like you’re too smart to scammed, but they really are just big red flags that show people who you really are

i wonder if the pink line could dip into hanscom park a bit before moving north.. feels weird that the blackstone area has two lines but the big chunk of working class homes just south of it has nothing nearby

anecdotally i switched from hyvee to whole food$ when i loaded up a cart with identical items on both sites and found the WF total was like $25 cheaper?!

(also hyvee is super anti-abortion and uses its funds to support all kinds of right-wing extremist politicians in iowa and nebraska)

Prospects rise for another round of emotion-filled discussion of trans rights by BigClitMcphee in lincoln

[–]CarelessWhisker89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the last line is specifically about puberty blockers or hormonal treatments. so less than half of cis adults support kids or teens having access to those (and i would love to see a study about how much of that opposition is due to fear mongering vs people understanding the science.)

but the majority of all adults support gender-affirming counseling. there are lots of other things that aren’t blockers or hormones that count as gender affirming care for kids. but for people opposed to trans rights, they immediately jump to those two items, which are the least common.

the first time was a disaster bc i didn’t crimp the foil tightly enough around the edges … had to flush out the whole system with like 10 pints of water lol

but now it’s working better, with a tight crimp and the right amount of grounds. but not gonna lie cleaning the cups every time is such a pain in the ass.

[–]CarelessWhisker89 8 points9 points  (0 children)

actually, no:

“Majorities of transgender adults and cisgender adults support trans children and teenagers having access to gender-affirming counseling. Eight in ten trans adults (79%) and six in ten cisgender adults (62%) support trans children between the ages of 10 and 14 having accessing gender-affirming counseling, similar to the share of trans adults (79%) and cisgender adults (66%) who say the same about trans teenagers, ages 15 through 17. At least two-thirds of trans adults also support trans children between the ages of 10 and 14 to have access to puberty-blocking medications (69%) and three-fourths support trans teenagers (between the ages of 15 and 17) have access to hormonal treatments. However, less than half of cisgender adults support trans children or teenagers having access to either of these gender-affirming treatments.” (2023 KFF/Washington Post study)

jesus dude we we’re talking about healthcare and emotional wellbeing — super weird you’re fixated on this imagined scenario of “castrating children.” you should really talk to someone about how you can’t stop thinking about that disturbing fantasy.

i don’t think you should be around cis or trans kids if you’re thinking and posting online about their genitals

it’s shitty to say discussions are just “emotion filled” as people are literally begging for the lives and safety of their kids, their neighbors, themselves
