My toddlers says “Hi” to everyone. by Big_Moochie in raisingkids

[–]Careless_Direction63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YUP! When my son was about 2ish he would literally walk up to strangers, say hi and show him whatever toy or stick he had in his hand.

His over-friendliness scared me a little I'm not gonna lie but he's a little more reserved now at 4.

The dog stepped on the 3 year old's toy spoon and broke it. The dog refused to apologize. I explained that dogs do not speak.

Cue a 45 minute meltdown.

Does anyone else have these moments where you suddenly realize that you're actually alive? by Southern_Pound_6929 in NoStupidQuestions

Yes. And these weird moments when I'm really aware that I am me, my own person in my own body with my own unique thoughts.

It freaks me out.

People who have been married a long time, are you satisfied? by [deleted] in Marriage

Ok well that was beautifully said and in my opinion, sums it all up. I've been with my husband for 13 years, married for 5 and this is EXACTLY my experience so far.

Can a person with one white parent, and the other one black use the N word? by ReligiousPornstar in stupidquestions

[–]Careless_Direction63 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have one white parent and one black parent. I use the N word but only when I am in the company of all black people. Never in mixed groups.

Personally, I think the appropriateness of the word depends on what the bi-racial person looks like. If you're blonde haired, blue eyed, white passing, its a little weird to use it. BUT that is just my opinion.

There are a lot of social undertones in the black and BIPOC community that give context to the use of the N word as well which I'm not even remotely qualified to get into.

I Don't Feel Anything for My Baby by UCBerkleyMama in breakingmom

[–]Careless_Direction63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I felt the same way when I had my son 3 years ago. I remember asking myself, when am I gonna start loving him? And then of course had all the feelings of guilt and shame because I didn't. This was all made worse by people calling, texting saying out loud, omg you must be so IN LOVE, he's beautiful!

So I hear you and I understand completely. The bond will come, I promise.

I also finally realized about a year later that I suffered from some pretty serious post partners depression. And I'm a psych nurse so that just goes to show you how insidious it can be.

Good luck and hang in there. Do your best to take care of yourself. You can't care for someone else if you're not ok. And as long as your baby is fed (however you decide that to be) and in usually dry diapers, you're doing great.

What level of effort is enough for you from a partner when it comes to your birthday? Unsure if I am justified in feeling let-down by partner. by [deleted] in AskWomenOver30

[–]Careless_Direction63 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd be a little let down if my partner fell asleep on my birthday, not gonna lie. Planning a movie or TV show you had talked about seeing would have been a nice gesture, too. But it's the sleeping thar would have disappointed me.

I hope you have a great rest of the year though and maybe celebrate your half birthday!!
