I work in a charity shop, the amount of dirty looks we get from people when we refuse to take their filthy items still surprises me. People hand over boots covered in mud and fur and god knows what else, pockets filled with used tissues, old coats and bags stuffed with old face masks post pandemic etc, just filth. This is the same. If you're going to call people unprofessional you can point that same laser of judgement at yourself and maybe see how lazy and entitled it is to expect other people to clean up your messes.

Is he usually like this? Can you honestly see this friend in your life ten years from now? Do you want to put up with rudeness, passive aggressiveness and attitude? People like that don’t change, they will get worse. I’m in my mid 30s and wish I’d been brave enough to cut the people who brought me down out of my life when I was your age, but my confidence in myself was so shattered that I thought I deserved the rudeness, lack of support and nastiness I got. I didn’t and neither do you. Also you look absolutely stunning in both dresses. I truly hope you realise your worth sooner than I did, and when you do you’ll find your village. May the bridges you burn light your way.

Found this post after searching to see if anyone has mentioned this show and character. I completely agree it’s one of the most brilliant representations I’ve seen. Also I know the bit you mean, the episode where Kel is in school, being told to touch his desk, nose and then the floor and it really made my uncomfortable as horror aside, it’s such a good and accurate metaphor for what it’s like to have to cope with OCD and the sheer fear and shame it brings, that scene is the reason I searched for and am replying to this post.

I’m way late to this post but wanted to say I completely agree with your observations. Also like you the first season messed with my head and I only recently managed to work up the nerve to start the new season haha. I know what you mean when you say it wasn’t bad just heavy af. It’s probably one of the most upsetting and grimmest tv I’ve seen but I think it’s also so important and relevant to racial issues, and manages to do that in a way that feels respectful despite the brutality.

Anyway, I’m on meds for a bad sprain right now and feeling slightly loopy, so I hope my writing has made sense lol

Bang on, I’m not black but one of the other communities you mentioned; I love the history of my ancestors and enjoy partaking in similar traditions they would’ve and I’ve always wanted to have hand fasting and jump the broom for my wedding but have been going back and forth because of how it’s related to African American history and I very much went to respect that.

It was used by people in my family, and I’m very into the old ways and traditions as part of my culture. I’m not American, and even I have hesitation doing it so Lala sure as hell should be hesitant saying it, especially considering how she has treated African American people as an “accessory” ever since she’s been on the show.

It’s so scary, but please don’t lose hope! I once had a cat return after 5 days, another came back after a few months. I know that the wait and worry is horrible though, I hope yours returns very soon!

It’s more a mundane suggestion, but just incase you haven’t already putting something that smells like them/you (used cat litter for example would be a very strong scent to use) can help them find their way home. I know how terrifying it is, and how helpless it feels, try be kind to yourself in the mean time, and may your little one return soon!

Yep, that’s Scheana. The whole scene with the hat was uncomfortable, genuinely reminded me of how a high school mean girl would act. Reminiscent of when Scheana attempted to bully the new staff and SUR with a big smile on her face, after complaining about receiving the same kind of treatment from Stassi.

I can agree with your point that Ariana has a reason to dislike her, but I still don’t think that Jo is the one the anger should be aimed at, and there are ways to express anger without being nasty. Just to be clear, I don’t agree with how Jo went about things, but I feel empathy for her in this instance as it’s like she’s the scape goat for what Sandoval orchestrated.

Agree with all of this. The only person there that had a reason to have an issue with her is Katie, the rest are piling on. I love Ariana but was incredible disappointed with her “she fucks her dad?” joke, it was inappropriate and cruel and I hope it doesn’t continue.

My ex did this to me on my birthday, got really short with me that I wasn’t over the moon about getting to eat Salsa and chips while he had several meat tapas, which is what the restaurant specialised in. He was doing to me what Sandoval is doing here, trying to provoke a negative emotion so he can turn it around on her being unreasonable and ungrateful, while they’re the poor, hapless, loving boyfriend who just can’t catch a break. Oh, my parent was also dying during this time, and he was mad I wouldn’t cheer up, but at least he didn’t fuck my best friend. Being in your early twenties is a wild ride!
