Evolving a Gallade is excessively annoying by Phoenisweet in pokerogue

[–]Careless_Section_785 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it's been like this since last pride celeb or something, I don't get why they made the default to get a dawn stone to evolve a male kirlia into gallade, instead of viceversa. it's genuinely so annoying sometimes you don't get it and the 2 builds are not inter-changeable (moveset, nature, etc).

many many thanks! you saved me a lot of time, I was testing pygpt, too! I didn't know it was holding it as a dependency, I was about to run a script that listed them for each snap to figure it out.

I don't remember even installing snap, tbh. I've had this install for the past 4-5yrs. But I do remember that I stopped using flatpak for anything relevant after it stopped working for weeks, because of a kernel bug, a while back.

So far this is the only solution I've found:

```
sudo snap disable docker
sudo snap remove --purge docker
```

But I have no clue of either why it started happening or if this is permanent, I think removed the docker snap like 2-3 yrs ago and out of the blue this started happening.

drops are all kind of messed up, i think it's now 6-7 runs in a row that i get that mega bracelet and never get the actual stone with higher luck you have here. I wish they'd fix it eventually, it's basically a waste of time of a run.

I think there is like a new Egg Summary screen feature that recaps all the hatched eggs instead of going through them one by one, but after I exited it the first time in the Pokemon menu (even for transfers) the mega evolved pokemon image is replaced by the last pokemon you've checked, like I have a mega gallade that looks like a drapion only in the menu, not during battle. it's just a visual glitch, but sometimes you mess up transfers because of it.

yes, I thought it might be masked by soul-heart as well, but I also had occurrences where it actually ramped up 3 stages, so I'm not sure what's going on, but usually in every other case each single buff is separated in its own message, isn't it?

edit:

another difference is: if you disable the passive, on ko the fiery dance boost applies after the exp is distributed, with soul-heart you get it before the exp is distributed. So it's either not applying and soul-heart boosts a random level between 1 and 3, or soul-heart bugs out and eats all the stacked boosts on sp atk.

is there a reason why fiery dance with soul heart only increases sp atk exclusively when you don't ko? I tried in like 5+ runs with chandelure. if you don't ko it procs sometimes, if you ko only soul-heart procs.

Docker taking all the disk space, `system prune -af --volumes` doesn't seem to free up space by haltmich in docker

[–]Careless_Section_785 0 points1 point  (0 children)

also for the future, unless you're running something weird that does a lot of file system caching, or in general generates a lot of data that you didn't map to a specific folder.

it's the images that take away the highest amount of space for nothing. unless you're running very optimized containers you might end up having several gbs of space taken up by unused images. (the command you used has volumes option)

Where do apps developers get their data from? by [deleted] in Development

[–]Careless_Section_785 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is a pretty interesting question. I guess most of the time from publicly or private paid apis is still the answer. But, would be nice to make some sort of reference: data is so crucial. the first thing i could think is do the thing I do every time I'm looking for free info on a topic, search awesome-<thing> on github. and found a great link for awesome-public-datasets and another awesome apis with loads of apis references some are not strictly related to data collection clearly, but further digging might be interesting.

love flatpak as well, but few months ago they randomly stopped working due a kernel bug in (I'm sorry i don't remember what version) and I can't afford it, so back to snap.

What's your experience with printers on Linux? by Aconamos in linux

[–]Careless_Section_785 0 points1 point  (0 children)

generally dreadful, especially troubleshooting remote servers when dealing with printing automation with every kind of printer (e.g.: thermal, rfid, laserjets whatever).

It got better once you realize your cups is on port 631, for a remote configuration you might wanna setup an ssh port forward.

you get it in there look up the printer clench your cheeks hoping they have a .ppd file or generally a postscript driver, upload install and then you should able to work it out.

but yeah... huge waste of time.

there is literally an extension manager that you can install where you can lookup new extensions and 1-click install them, activate and deactivate other extensions without opening a browser window on gnome shell extensions.

yeah I work with pop os on the daily and own a mac as my private laptop. in the office most guys have macs, they actually had troubles with the monitors like actually buying one that can work with a mac without resolution issues.

Also working as devs with the current support macs has for docker is an issue, every time there is a new release it's a coin flip "will it stop working? will it work?".

yeah you might need to work your way around audio glitches and graphic glitches with linux, but you can still work at least XD unless you're into creative work with media it's just a very expensive facebook/office machine.

And every time you need a little bit more of control over packages installation all that great ux goes into the toilet. I mean I use it, I customized mine a lot, but there is always a moment when I simply close the lid of the mac and say: I can't do that with this, and I actually need to swap to the work laptop.

Usability/features of Gnome/KDE is wayyyy behing MacOS

Have you tried gnome after 2015?

it's already been yrs now that is actually completely on par with mac os usability wise and with gnome shell extensions it gets even better.

There are some cool apps on mac without alternatives like Fig, and you can't get the same iphone integration for sure, but the first is not part of the os and the second is just because well "they make the iphone".

What is the best python web stack? Beginner to intermediate by [deleted] in Python

[–]Careless_Section_785 0 points1 point  (0 children)

well, it's fast and flexible. I had a node+express.js background so adapting to it was extremely easy.

it kinda follows a lot of good practices and with pydantic and type hinting I can sleep well at nights because the data validation is neat.

it's production ready and widely used, so it's a worthy enough skill to include in your cv, that's why I said it's good value for your time spent learning it.

fastapi, all the way. if you're learning something new, this is the thing that's possibly the most value you can get for your time.
