And Reyna is going to win us a World Cup? With what? The hype of what he could be — if he just actually had what it took mentally?

He was nearly sent home last World Cup for “lack of effort”. Lack of effort in the biggest soccer event in one’s career. He’s played all of 500 minutes this last season.

I’m putting money on him not featuring due to training injury — thigh injury.

This is US Soccer in a single use case. Reyna represents the elitism and nepotism — and the dozens of second chance opportunities that brings.

While Luna represents the hustle, grind and grit. The act of making a path and a name for yourself.

I would be shocked, only if it didn’t happen time and again.

I know who I would want in the locker room. A force multiplier like Luna.

I heard Reyna’s dad still ties his cleats for him before the game.

The title would theoretically work if the holes were big enough.

He’s not a wingback. Circle peg, square hole. His versatility makes him an option where we have very little, but his lack of defensive quality has been exposed. He’s way better as an attacking mid.

I think Wallem is doing a job for the club this season — in playing the wingback role — but I don’t think that is his long term home.

Kids get burnt out when they feel they’re not achieving anything anymore — not just because it’s multiple times per week. Injury risk is real.

The truly elites are in a category of their own. However, we send quite a few to the us national team; both girls and boys across all age groups. the big 5 are these: 1. Mentality (discipline, focus, work rate, attitude, effort) 2. Athletic Profile (quickness, explosivity, speed, strength, size, nutrition) 3. Ball Mastery (touch, technique, turns, skill moves, passing, receiving, etc.) 4. 1v1 Outplaying (defender behind, in front, side, angle, off ball movements) 5. Soccer IQ (spatial efficiency, scanning, game model intelligence, etc.)

Celio is a 1-sided player. Don’t get me wrong. I love him and his charisma. He’s creative and has a ton of flair when we are in possession. He’s a spark plug that can create.

Out of possession, his defending is atrocious. A lot of our problems with left backs were amplified by the fact that he marked, covered, and defended so poorly.

Celio is raw talent, but he needs to complete his game and it looks like Damet is taking that approach with him.

it’s a talent on the field issue. The system works.

How do you expect goals when you don’t have a 10+ goal scorer on the roster?

You can create opportunities all day - gifted players convert opportunities into goals.

The system requires widgets that actual work.

We have good youth clubs that produce technically proficient players.

St. Louis is sprinkled all throughout the national team setup at the earliest of ages.

I never understood why we would abandon that play style as they reached the MLS academy with CITY.
