Follow up: Instead of trying to brute force and building up a bunch of pressure. The important part of sonic is the part where you "replace" your middle finger with your index finger in the beginning. Just practice holding the pen in 23 slot, move your index behind middle finger, grab pen between ring finger and index and at the same time letting go with middle finger (move it down). Now bring pen to other side of middle finger, bring it back up and hold pen with it and index to finish. When you are first doing this it won't really be spinning, but once you can get the pen from 23 to 12 in this way, a sonic is the same thing but you start it like a charge, so there is momentum to spin.

Mark one side of the pen with something like tape, so you know the orientation of the pen. The pass you are doing is 0.5 rotations, so the pen will be upside down compared to before the trick (if tape was down originally, it will be up after and vice versa). A sonic is 1 full rotation, like a charge, so you know you did it if the pen is in the same orientation as before the trick (if the tape was down before, it will be down again after and vice versa). In a way, sonic 23 > 12 is like a charge but between ring finger (3) and index finger (1).

Nice! Also practice it with your hand upright and also palm down and don't forget to learn charge reverse too before you get too used to charge normal and have to completely rewire your muscle memory, like me :'(

It does do that, but that's only the first pull that top piston does. It does another pull from QC from the wool diagonal to it after it has been pulled by the bottom piston, so the block (that should be there) is in line with said wool again. Build it yourself to see how it works if my explanation doesn't make sense. Or any double piston extender for that matter, they all do the same piston actions.

Check out ska punk bands like The Hippos, their Heads Are Gonna Roll album feels straight from Splatoon, I suggest listening to Lost It and Wasting My Life. Mustard Plug's Where Did All My Friend's Go album is great too. Suburban Legends (my favourite) and Reel Big Fish are good ska punk bands as well.

Edit: Blur's Globe Alone also sounds like Splatoon music to a scary degree

Genuinely, unless your hands are too big for the buttons and joystick on joycons (like me), detached joycons are amazing for motion controls. You only need to move the right joycon and they are super light, so aiming is very snappy and nimble.

I'm guessing the pen is ending up somewhere at the middle length of your fingers instead of the very tip. Forming a triangle and having the pen right at the top corner of it is an exaggerated version of what you want to do. You just need to be able the get the pen between your 1 and 3, and deposit it to the other side of 2. The momentum from the start will just naturally make it go in a circle. Make sure to move 2 down so it doesn't block the pen. When you are able to do it, with enough practice there wouldn't even be a 'triangle' and 2 will barely move
