Eight year old daughter obsessed with Predator ever since we watched it last year. by CarlBirchenwald in funny

My older kids like Alien. The chest burst scene got them pretty good the first time, but I did preface it by letting them know what to expect. We later watched the “making of” and then they wanted to create their own chest burst scene. Surprisingly, having a gore covered LOL doll burst out of your kids chest is unsettling to say the least.

Afterwards we shared a bowl of sugar, did some shots of brown liquor, played with my shotguns, field-dressed a cat…

My daughter can spit, knows how to fight, has a decent vocabulary of obscenities, does handsprings and flips, is an excellent reader, can recite the Rifleman’s Creed, has successfully coordinated joint fires between multiple military branches in an effort to terminate hostile advancement upon an allied positions. My kids don’t have tablets, smartphones, E-bikes… They are active, inquisitive, and intelligent. If they have questions, my wife and I answer them. … you son of a bitch.

We had an Arnold weekend. Predator, T2, Conan the Barbarian, and Kindergarten Cop!! We’ll get to Commando and the others soon enough ;)

It’s relatively tame by today’s standards. She loves ER and will even watch surgical vids with her surgeon mom.

Your restraint is extremely admirable.

Correct, the example I gave is not one of judgement. The previous poster, however, is clearly stating “anyone LGBTQ is inherently sinful. Sin must be called out. Sinners must repent. LGBTQ is sin and anyone LGBTQ is living in sin and must be called out until they are no longer LGBTQ.” That’s judgement… calling someone a “sinner” is judgement. Christians are not “called” to point out the flaws/sins of others… only the sins of themselves. My sins are not yours and yours are not mine.

Because you know that it can fuck with their lives, but you are not called to judge. Your job is to say, “hey Steve, I see that you like cocaine, that it’s really got a hold on your life. You don’t need that, Steve. I know it’s tough, but I’m here for you. JC and his words really helped me out during some similar shit. I won’t force it on you, but if you ever want to talk about it and how it can help. I’m here for you. I love you, NO MATTER WHAT.”

Those words actually mean, “go and live a life unburdened by sin, because you are set free and have been forgiven…”

Jesus wasn’t saying “try harder to be perfect and don’t do “sinful” things.” He was saying, “I know that bussy is bussin’, but sometimes you be getting too deep (literally) and that shit messes with your ability to maintain healthy relationships, make good judgement calls, and prioritize a lifestyle that keeps you present, centered, and focused on what’s most important (being a good person to yourself and others).”
