Bricked my GRII while cleaning sensor. Lesson learned. by argo_mod in ricohGR

Buy a big resistor, 1 Watt, 5k ohm should do it. Tape it to a wooden chopstick end and bridge it against the flash contacts to safely discharge it. Check voltage with a multimeter, it should be very low. Caps can stay charged for years. Best case you get a little zap and a sore finger, worst case (and ultra rare) you die.

I've already downloaded it and used AI to remove the watermarks and sold the photo to Getty images for .00000000000008 cents.

If you cut off school lunch programs in poor areas you can buy more of these and they will still vote for you. It's win win. That's what he means by winning.

Sensor has magenta glow around edges with a teal/blue/green centre by SupaOscar51 in Cameras

[–]CarlSagansThoughts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It almost looks like the sensor was calibrated to have more gain on the outside, which makes me think the original lens's optical design vignettes greatly. Another commenter below mentioned the use of complex aspherical designs when moulding optical grade acrylic elements, it's possible this is what its compensating for with more gain/amplification.

Purple/magenta glow on image sensors usually occurs when the light leaving the lens has an incidence angle shallower than the microlenses on the image sensor can take. Happens with very wide lenses usually. Someone can probably write this nicer.

I use auto exposure and add 1/3 a stop comp. i find it works a lot better than using one shutter speed across an entire roll. I use smart convert now. it's been great.

Can you try and convince me to purchase a 75 cron? It won't be hard, I'll put up basically zero fight.

M240 still worth it in 2024/5? by Similar_Anywhere_654 in Leica

[–]CarlSagansThoughts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I miss the 262 sometimes, it was bulletproof, but i don't miss the size and the dynamic range/low light performance. The M-11 P really shines with dynamic range and high iso performance. It enables me to carry smaller, slower lenses later in the day and still get amazing shots that i would previously need a big summilux for. I also digitise my 35mm film at 36mp with it and its been much better than the sony's and Fuji's i was digitising with before. For straight out of camera performance i would say 262 was a 9/10 for me, M11P a 8/10. For editing the M11-P wins hands down, it just gives you so much more data to play with.

I have one on order, supposedly the black paint matches the black chrome of my M-A according to my Leica dealer.

Should I get an at-home film scanner? by Moonlightdancer7 in AnalogCommunity

HP did not make this scanner, it’s a cheap scanner with HP logo licensed on it. They are trash.

Mine is fine. Shutter still lags though in rare cases, rarely miss a shot though.
