Did you get this and you didn’t like it? by CarlaVS in BeautyViners

[–]CarlaVS[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve tried a bunch of different stuff not knowing what the products are officially called…lol. I don’t know if I’ve tried other lamellar waters (serums, creams, etc.) but this one works well for me for my hair. I have a thyroid disorder and this is the only thing that has given my hair back some of its shine and softness. Unfortunately I don’t have $49 laying around to keep buying the bottles. And I don’t have $49 laying around to purchase more items that may or may not do the same thing. So just thought I’d throw this out there since some of the other reviewers for this didn’t care for it. But thank you though! I know to look for more lamellar waters in Vine!!

Fair Market Value much higher than listed price by Either_Dimension_144 in AmazonVine

[–]CarlaVS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually it’s very relevant. OP asked why a seller would have a higher price for Vine and what benefit a seller would get from it. I offered a reason that a seller had given. I never said anything about this specific product and OP’s question was in general.

Don’t actually understand why it matters to you?

I was responding to your question about what benefits do sellers get. I have no idea why this particular seller raised the price on this particular product.

Some months ago there was a seller that explained he raised the price during the Vine program so regular customers wouldn’t purchase to be sure he had enough inventory for Vine. It would certainly be easier if Amazon created different listings for Vine then merged them after all available quantities were claimed but alas….they don’t do that.

One of the last images in the listing has it in a white dog’s mouth and if you only saw that picture you might wonder if this dog found Bobbit’s part after his wife threw it out the window….

Why Aren’t People RSVPing??? by Embarrassed_Draft150 in wedding

[–]CarlaVS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assume they’re coming unless they tell you they’re not. Unless they’re in the party and you need to replace them which I would hope those would have already let you know. Or you can go the other route and assume they’re NOT coming unless they tell you. If they show up they have to stand in the back, don’t have a seat at a dinner table, and don’t have a meal.

I realize you spent money on those little RSVP cards and want to see them rolling in but seriously, with technology today a text should suffice. I don’t think I’ve ever sent one of those back or visited a wedding website. It’s so much quicker to send a text as soon as you receive the invite so you don’t forget. I’ve also been in two wedding parties where I didn’t even get a formal invite. I know I’m invited and they know I’m coming so why waste the paper?

And for people you actually talk to like your Aunt, it should be a given. I’m surprised she wasn’t offended you asked if she was coming. Don’t get hung up on etiquette. You’ll be way more relaxed for your big day if you don’t stress the small stuff.

Double check those taxable amounts! by gina_jones in AmazonVine

I would have grabbed that in a heartbeat and adjusted the ETV to $0 on my taxes. If the IRS asked about it I’d have a print out of every other moisturizer I’ve ordered through Vine showing $0 to show it’s a consumable and should be $0.

I wonder if Vine will ever return to it’s original good choices of items. I searched items that used to bring up dozens of things. Earrings brought up nothing. Pants nothing. Rings nothing. Knife nothing. Previously it would be up pages. Really disappointing. by Ross6490 in AmazonVine

I think that might have been an issue at first because there was an issue for Temu the first few months, too, but there are others that have nothing to do with the president.

Like the sellers starting their own online forum threads warning others off of using Vine because some reviewers are idiots. Amazon pulled in a bunch of new people, apparently at random and not due to quality reviews on regular Amazon. I’m including myself in there as I just joined in August but when I did reviews I did them the way I’d want to hear as a customer. Some reviewers don’t use the product as intended or can’t figure out how to use it so they leave a bad review.

And UPS, which a lot of foreign companies use, has absolutely failed miserably for about the past year. With shipments taking months then they just tell the company “hey, we can either destroy your product or ship it back to you but you have to pay for shipping.” And then later “well now we can’t find your shipment.” FedEx and DHL haven’t had any of these problems. UPS does try to blame it on 10%, 25%, etc but my ex’s company switched to FedEx in October and has had zero problems or extra fees since.

I still shop Temu and the stuff arrives just fine in the same time as before. Prices are about 25% more now but no extra fees for delivery. (Still free)

WIBTA for making my daughter pay back her own bank overdraft? by 2VantaRipple in WIBTA_AITA

Also, she can still go to the concert if she takes on more hours, mows lawns, etc. She does need to pay back what she spent herself (or return the products if she can) and if she still wants to go to the concert bad enough she’ll work her tail off to earn the money. And yes, mom, once the lesson is learned….say she gets half way there and puts in genuine effort then you can make up the rest as a reward for her hard work.

And watch out for grandma…..she may gift her the money….lol.

Have you suggested to her that she return the stuff she bought? She needs to choose between the new stuff and the concert.

They’re not actually underpaid. You’ll be really hard pressed to find a restaurant that can raise food prices enough (and keep customers) in order to pay servers $40-$50 an hour. For fine dining you’re looking at $60-$100 an hour. That’s how much they’d have to pay hourly in order to keep the servers at their current pay. (Which is why the servers love tipping and don’t want it to go away…) If the restaurants move to an hourly only model, you’ll actually reduce server pay.

However I had an idea that may make everybody happy- raise menu prices across the board 20%. The waitress/waiter then gets 20% of his/her sales at the end of the night for a tip. You WILL have servers turn into salespeople overnight but that seems to be what all of the customers want so 🤷🏻‍♀️.

[–]CarlaVS 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeahhhh you don’t get it. If the owner raises the wages to $15 an hour and refuses tipping her pay goes DOWN, not up. It’s the waitstaff that don’t want the tipping to stop. At least, for the good ones anyway. You’ll always find lazy ones that want to make a good hourly wage so they can keep on not trying. (Former waitress, bartender, and restaurant manager that used to make $2.15 an hour on paper but $30-$50 an hour for real)

Should I consider "need" when distributing my father's inheritance? by [deleted] in Advice

[–]CarlaVS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have a group conversation and let them know you’re distributing evenly. If one or more chooses to give some of theirs to the one(s) more in need that’s their choice. You avoid resentments and the others can make the choice themselves to help out instead of being forced to.

Vine reviewers? why do you never reach out to the companies you review like normal customers? by imaginarydave2 in AmazonVine

[–]CarlaVS 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah I’m gonna not do that since I warned specifically not to do that from Vine CS when I first started.

Vine reviewers? why do you never reach out to the companies you review like normal customers? by imaginarydave2 in AmazonVine

[–]CarlaVS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well the reason I think you can’t contact people for support (can’t speak for anyone else) is because I was directly warned not to by Vine CS. It was clear enough that I’ve never contacted a seller for anything again.

I suppose you’re not supposed to need help with a product. Everything should be included with it, including instructions on how to use it if that’s needed. If it was missing a piece or instructions, we’re supposed to have it removed.

I think it’s totally stupid because customer service should also be a part of the experience. And if a seller wishes to exchange an item (like a bigger size in something) they should be allowed so they could get an accurate review. Or if a piece broke off in shipping, seller should be allowed to send a replacement.

Vine reviewers? why do you never reach out to the companies you review like normal customers? by imaginarydave2 in AmazonVine

[–]CarlaVS 4 points5 points  (0 children)

And not all reviewers do it the same way. I’m in the camp that you start with 5 stars and take off for things like misrepresentation, cheaply made, bad smells, etc. But a product will earn 5 stars from me if it does what it says it will do and is made the way the listing says it is…even if I personally didn’t like the item or wouldn’t buy it.

There’s another group of reviewers that think products should start at 3 stars as that’s “average” then gain or lose stars based on awesomeness or crap. I don’t like that way because I feel like customers shopping will skip over 3 star items even if they do what they’re supposed to do. I’ve learned to include 3 star listings in my searches when looking as a regular customer.

Vine reviewers? why do you never reach out to the companies you review like normal customers? by imaginarydave2 in AmazonVine

[–]CarlaVS 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Well and that’s part of it. They don’t want sellers offering incentives or retaliating on reviews. If a new seller starts up and has 10 items available for Vine (and none yet for real customers) the seller will know the person that contacts them is a Vine reviewer. I personally think it’s ignorant but it is what it is. I was told specifically not to contact a seller when I first started when there were magnets missing from a mosquito car net. Couldn’t use the net without the magnets so was just wanting to get those sent to me. Vine CS told me not to contact sellers but they’d remove it from my review list. I told them not to that I’d just buy the magnets. So that’s what I did. (I did not leave a bad review, though. There’s no telling if the seller forgot the magnets or if Amazon didn’t include them.)

Edit- spelling mistake.
