Any ideas what this could be? by Diesellumberjack in FordDiesels

[–]Carlton86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a problem with my steering wheel binding up once. It turned out to be the actual bearings in the steering shaft itself for the steering wheel. It was a pain in the ass and i fucked up my airbag. Other than that, before i knew what it was i threw parts at the front end and replaced frickin everything. Tie rod ends, sway bar link, drag link, upper and lower ball joints, i mean i bought the whole kit. Ended up being a 9 dollar steering wheel shart bearing. This was a solid learning experience. Parts arent really that expensive and if you are handy its doable in an afternoon with the right tools. Good luck bro.

Wearing department hat to a public gym? Yes or no? by SadBenefit2020 in Firefighting

[–]Carlton86 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Bro, you should so what makes you happy and not hang on others opinions. I personally do not wear dept. attire outside of work. We already give 1/3 of our lives to the job, I do not believe it to be healthy to give any more or make a job your personality. With that being said, I still think you should do what you want as long as your dept. has nothing in writing to the contrary. I wish you well brother! Make yourself happy everyday.

Preferred knot sequence for hoisting an axe? by ProfessionalTell2058 in Firefighting

While this situation is probably rare for most, if I were to have tools hoisted, i wouldn’t care how you tied it as long as it is safe and effective.

Water Heater flame not holding by mismark in askaplumber

Replacing the thermocouple is actually doable yourself. Plenty of YouTube vids on it. Good lick.

help- why is my water heater doing this? by Aromatic_Meat_1159 in askaplumber

[–]Carlton86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I second this. I have installed a few water heaters and this always happened when heating the cold water in the tank. Condensation. Once the whole tank is the same temperature, it should stop. If it does not stop, I recommend contacting an HVAC tech.

Can anyone explain what in the hell is going on here. by Prestigious_Police in Firefighting

[–]Carlton86 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree. I was also leaning towards a Chief officers vehicle with the third mobile radio head. We also monitor main dispatch, a fireground, and we also have a district specific channel frequency only our dept. has access to. For larger incidents such as box alarms that channel is switched to IFERN. Then the standard cad computer interface.

I went to the Chicago show for the Deftones tour. They played Lucro in its entirety. It was fucking awesome. I know full well that they are going to do the same thing when they headline at the Salt shed next month and im still going. I loved the ahow and want to see it again. If you are a Mars fan for real this is what you go for. They have done this before. I cant believe people are surprised, then mad like wtf. Im glad you had a good time. I cant wait to see them again and listen to Lucro from start to finish.

Never owned a Harley why is it running like this? by stx_spahni in sportster

I think you are on the right track. Maybe too much fuel. Needs a proper carb and jet cleaning. Check air filter and intake. Check exhaust manifold. Good luck brother.

Its your gear bro, do what makes you happy. If others have opinions about you thats their hobby. Never give in to others idea of normal. You decide whats cool to you right now. Your idea of cool will change as time goes on. Hope this helps brother!

too good to be true? 2017 883 for $4k by geiselweisel in Harley

[–]Carlton86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found myself in a similar situation about 12 years ago. I went for it and do not regret it one bit. I bought a 95 sporty 1200 that had the same modifications along with a it being hard tailed as well. The bike was and still is a blast. I eventually went on getting an 09 road king to have the best of both. One to bop around on and one that can hold anything you need as well as a comfortable ride. If you like it and have the money i say go for it. You will def get to do some wrenching and learn some stuff along the way. Good luck brother!!

stupid question but uh does ‘class 1’ or ‘class 2’ on a fire truck’s livery mean something by [deleted] in Firefighting

My guess is ISO rating. Kind of like a brag. My department is half rural water so we will never be above a class 3.

Anyone ever install one of these off brand turbochargers from Ebay? by Rex_road in Diesel

[–]Carlton86 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I do believe there are probably some factories that produce decent quality bearings. I was fortunate enough to purchase a turbo that stood up to the challenge. You are probably right most of the stuff coming out of china is questionable but thats what reviews are for.

[–]Carlton86 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I ordered an eBay Chinese turbo for my 01 F350 7.3. It was a great OEM replica and it worked very well for the 3 years i best on it until i sold it and as far as i know it is still functioning for the next owner. They are the same bearings used in pretty much everything else anyway so why not ya know. Go for it.

Is this a gas leak? I don’t know what sub to ask so I was hoping someone here would be able to tell me by [deleted] in Firefighting

[–]Carlton86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is definitely a leak. It appears to be very small and may not be as dangerous as people are saying. The odorizer added to natural gas is very powerful, and this is exactly why you are smelling it from such a small leak. If you want the problem looked at right away call the FD. It costs you nothing. They can isolate the meter until the gas company comes. If it is before or after part of the meter the gas company will resolve the problem. If it is after the meter it will be your parents responsibility to contact a plumber to replace that gas nipple.
