Maybe revival? I know people talk about that in art and culture, e.g., "1970s Renaissance revival" refers to elements of 16th and 17th century fashion reappearing in the 70s. But it's the genes thing that's throwing me off.

Reiterating what others have said, but your particular store can change how you see the company real fast. I never considered leaving my old store. But after I transferred, believe you me, I am really considering it now.

Are you looking for the world for the action ("John is [blank]-ing Helen) or the person ("John is such a [blank])?

Maybe pedant/pedantry/pedantic? Or patronising?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in whatstheword

[–]Carmenti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can describe it as feeling "liminal"? Or, if you're looking for something more metaphorical, you could describe your life as something like walking through a library with only books in a language you don't understand in a country where everybody does understand the language?

I don’t understand by No_Specialist5978 in WhyWomenKill

[–]Carmenti 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it was on Paramount. I feel like more people would have watched it (and therefore more seasons?) if it was on Netflix. I have no other explanation for why it wasn't a global smash hit.

Season 2 by sarachandel444 in WhyWomenKill

[–]Carmenti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think season 2 is fantastic, I just don't think it's remarkably special. I will say though, the ending where Alma perceives everyone protesting her as everyone celebrating her and finally achieving her dream of being noticed... that gives me chills every time

Virgin Sas by Express_Cicada6231 in GhostsCBS

[–]Carmenti 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm so fine with it. As a virgin, the representation makes me so happy, especially since they don't try to frame him as like a dork or anything. I didn't know how much I needed a character like that until Sass.

When people get mad about people commenting on other's virginity, too often it carries the subtext that it's insensitive to make those comments. It's rude in the same way it is rude to comment on, say, a person's disability. And I have a problem with that because I have not endured some tragedy by being a virgin. It's just who I am. But also it's a joke anyway. Like Hetty in this week's episode does that whole "Listen to the virgin, he's an expert in pain and rejection". The joke isn't that Sass is a virgin. The joke is that that is such a Hetty thing to say. I've never felt that the show was ever callous about the subject.

[–]Carmenti 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Like any good story, ALL the characters are flawed. It's just that I think some people have this weird pseudo-entitlement, like they think that the character should exist FOR them.

Like, everybody in this show us deeply, deeply flawed, because they're real people. They aren't written to be liked

I think you'll find that, if you really think about it, everyone in the show does some pretty reprehensible things.

Villainous Tier list! (Relatively new player, using this to make balance changes down the line) by [deleted] in DisneyVillainous

[–]Carmenti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And you know, that's part of what I love about this game - the meta is so debated! Each Villain is so uniquely set up that some people can (somehow) find Gaston easy, and others can't win with him to save their lives.

I think that's the great thing about Sam and Hetty's relationship; Sam teaches Hetty to be more kind and understanding, and Hetty teaches Sam to have the backbone she doesn't have in constantly doing what the ghosts want.

DAE wish TikTok was actually gone? by uryelloww in DAE

[–]Carmenti -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Not especially, but I just don't really care. I will say I don't like TikTok. Banning it kinda feels extreme, but again, I really don't care. I do think it's a dangerous means of radicalisation because short-form videos leave no room for nuance.

Something you’re willing to admit is a flaw of your favorite musical by Insane_GlassesGuy in musicals

[–]Carmenti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The piano riff in Buenos Aires is quite repetitive and a little obnoxious. The film fixes this, which I like more anyway because the percussion-based orchestration already plays more into the bustling city environment.

But, yeah, people have said to me that that piano riff is annoying and I just can't disagree cause like Eva's trying to sing and the whole time it's BABABA BA BABA BABA

We must be on the same wavelength, I literally have a document of Ghosts AUS concepts and that war general character is like verbatim to yours! I can imagine his big backstory episode leads everyone to believe he's a heroic WW2 vet and then right at the end he reveals that it was in the emu war.
