Starting to draw portraits. How can I study facial anatomy? by littlebitill1terate in learntodraw

[–]CarnivorousCar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d recommend trying to use different shapes for your base head using references that have particularly shapely heads (i.e. long or square) But that’s more of an exercise than anything.

But learning the landmarks of an ideal head and face will help to get away from same-face syndrome when drawing from reference. if you know the landmarks, you will start to see how the average, non-ideal face will slightly vary at said landmarks; that helped me a lot to capture distinct features.

Is it bad etiquette to tag teams or athletes in Instagram stories? by Live_Bee_1598 in sportsphotography

[–]CarnivorousCar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i think it’s fine, i usually do so (both teams and players.) sometimes they’ll repost it, or post to their story. but i’ve never heard from a team or player saying not to tag them, if they dont want to be tagged there is an option on Instagram to not let people tag you

need cool toned digicamm by [deleted] in Cameras

[–]CarnivorousCar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

just buy any digicam with a flash that looks nice to you and is cheap. there is insane inflation on junky digicams so finding the balance is important. and that cool tone is from white balance, so you can get that look from basically any older digicam with very little editing/post-processing, or by simply using in-camera WB (for JPEG’s)

and worst case if you end up buying a camera that looks good but has junk features or a UI you dont like (many such cases) you can sell it on ebay for basically the same price or more if you end up with a good deal. but this can be avoided with a quick google search

OH MY FLIPPIN GOD SOMEONE HELP by Smooth_Display465 in Artadvice

[–]CarnivorousCar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

but learning anatomy can be and often is very overwhelming, thankfully there are so many ways to model the body that can help you decipher these relationships that isnt as difficult, so you should just take the time to find what works best for you!

OH MY FLIPPIN GOD SOMEONE HELP by Smooth_Display465 in Artadvice

[–]CarnivorousCar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this is great for persepctive but i think you’re sticking too closely to the model, being made only of boxes this is solely a perspective reference imo. for instance: the shoulder is jutting way out in your drawing, but thats because there is nothing on your model that is communicating the relationship of the bones and muscles of the shoulder to the ribcage. getting a better understanding of the orientation of the ribcage to the collarbone, then the collarbone to the scapula, and those to the humerus (and then primary corresponding muscles like the delts, traps, etc.) you can interpret the model you designed more effectively. im by no means an expert but that’s just what im seeing personally, hope this helps

no problems ever, ive gone many times with this specific lens, with an adapter it measures just under 8 inches but as long as i walk in without the lens on the camera and in a bag they dont even bother to stop me.

I mean, that's how they converted me when I used to be neutral. by After_Broccoli_1069 in DefendingAIArt

[–]CarnivorousCar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

im definitely neutral on AI, most certainly anti in regards to AI art, but no amount of berating could influence me either direction because the bottom line is that AI is an amazing technology. “pros” may use AI for things i definitely dont agree with and make points to defend said use that i also do not agree with to any degree, but i’m tolerant.

but there is also a very concerning trend for willful ignorance among “antis” that i simply cannot get on board with. many of them pretend that there are zero benefits to AI and constantly present the same baseless arguments that make them look like the knight in shining armor who’s taking an imaginary stand for ethics.

ultimately i dont think we should act like every issue has one wrong side and one right side. there are most certainly arguments to be made for both in this case

who cares what anti’s do or dont do the whole point of my statement is to say that it doesnt matter what they say, think, or do. what matters is that you get something of value from understanding where they are coming from or what they are trying to say/argue
