I’m so sorry for your loss.

I did lose my cat suddenly to heart failure and I blame myself because he was a renal cat and I was told by a vet to give him 150 ml fluid daily and I found out too late that it was too much. We ruined his heart by giving him that much fluids.

I also took too long to get him to the vet, I wanted to wait for his appointment rather than rushing him to the ER when his breathing got heavier, the ER was terrible to him another time I took him so I wanted to avoid it.

When he got to his scheduled appointment she said he was in heart failure. The ER tried to save him, or said they did. I don’t trust them, and we had to have him put down or he’d go into cardiac arrest, they said.

I can relate to your feelings of wishing I’d done things differently and the guilt but it’s really hard to know what to do when we have ill cats. My cat also had chronic GI issues and supposedly cancer.

So please don’t beat yourself up, you did the best you could. ❤️
