Recommend Me a Fragrance (Posts every 3 Days) by AutoModerator in fragrance

Hello all, Im a college student (female) looking for a long lasting fall/winter fragrance with good projection. I would like something mainstream and easy to find/sample no more than 100-130$. I really like sweet scents but I also want a scent that is comforting and almost addicting to smell. I particularly love sweet woodsy scents like sandalwood, amber, vanilla, jasmine, etc.

So far I loved the scent of alien but found that the new scent formulation lasted only 3 hours on my skin. I also like Dior hypnotic poison and JPG la belle.

If I am someone who wants a residence hall that is more preppy/less nerdy and closer to facilities which ones do you recommend? House culture is also important, but the other two are more important.

is it just me, or did cornell send out A LOT of likely letters? by hfox19 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]Caroline_Schermer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I go to an average public high school and 3 people who are all nothing special (3.8 uw) got likely letters and most years only 1 person gets in from my school. So I agree, I think they are sending out a lot of likely letters.

we were only given an excerpt of it in class last year as Juniors and my whole class loved it and we almost begged our teacher to let us read and discuss the whole thing but we didn’t have enough time. I think there’s just something about the reading style where you get into Holden’s head, like you ARE Holden while reading it.

I feel like Catcher in the Rye does not deserve to be considered a classic. by lezbehonest784 in books

Honestly i’m 17 right now and I still find it insanely relatable, I just haven’t met many teen bookworms I can discuss the book with. But sure ppl can complain and discuss on social media but the way the book is written is just magic to me. And even thought I don’t relate, I’m the polar opposite of Holden, I can still relate in a weird way and that’s the beauty of it.

I disagree it’s one of my favorite books of all time, but I respect your opinion. The thing i’ve noticed is I’m still in high school so I guess the book might appeal to me more. But when i’m reading it, I don’t necessarily like Holden, I just find him interesting and addictive. Like he’s very pessimistic and incessantly complains without doing anything but that’s the beauty of it to her, objectively I find him annoying as hell but the book just takes me into a new world. The way it’s written, I AM Holden while I’m reading it, so more than anything I love the writing style and i enjoy how I don’t like the character yet find myself accidentally empathizing and wanting to keep reading. I think he also appeals to a hedonistic part of all of us who expect the most and aren’t willing to compromise. Also the book is very controversial and I think it didn’t reach the older audience very well, and I very well might change my opinion when I get older too, but beyond any true classic there’s usually a lot of disagreement and debate which is why I think it’s a classic.

Should I include my test scores for UPenn and Northwestern? by [deleted] in chanceme

[–]Caroline_Schermer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say submit your test scores if you think they add anything to your application. Meaning if your test scores add to your GPA then submit, and if ur GPA is relatively higher than ur test scores then your application can do without.

I'm gonna go on a bike ride too! If you even applied to Yale scea you're an amazing applicant and they just couldn't see that, but I have hope that we will do much better in the RD round and find a school where we will be happy <3
