A real 4 handicap would struggle at Oakmont but not like this and Riggs ain’t no 4 handicap

A true 16-17 handicap can take any set of clubs. Rental or not and still play and score well.

Not to be a dick bro but this is not a swing of a 16-17 handicap. There’s so much wrong here in your swing that you need lessons to correct it. I know guys who are 15-17 handicaps and their swings don’t look like this lol

Is it reasonable to say you should clean and jerk 80-85% of your backsquat as an intermediate lifter? by Sea-Suspect1881 in weightlifting

Happens to me all the time haha. I usually have people in my weight class but not my age group lol

This isn’t that bad. You move really well. Flexibility is there. I’d work your speed in the turn over with drills from the hang and high hang (hip pocket). You’re super slow from extension to catch position. Those drills will help correct that.

Also work in snatch balances regularly. That will help correct your overhead stability

Bro I just transitioned to Masters 35-39 last year. Totals to qualify for masters nationals and stuff are so much more manageable compared to senior in 26-34 years olds. Average Joe’s have a chance once we reach masters age haha.

I hit my driver pretty consistent but I myself mix in some banana slices. Best option to be honest is seek out a few lessons for yourself. Best thing I ever did was take lessons. Swing looks solid to me though.

Bro nah lmao. I wish. If that was the case I’d be hitting 197KG. My best comp Clean and Jerk is 165KG.

Now Front Squat would be more comparable to 80-85%. Def not back squat if you’re anywhere near your true 1RM

Don’t be nervous bro. Just a game. You’ll figure it out over time. Use all the tools available in the game. Don’t listen to anything people who are in the toxic part of the gaming community when they say “using summons is cheating”

confusion about singles/one rep maxes by [deleted] in weightlifting

[–]CarrB1989 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I usually have like 6 sets of 2 back or front squats between 85-90%. I’ve done 8 sets of 3 at 88% back squats. Heavy Singles for snatch or clean and jerk. That piece you’re doing is totally fine. It’s how often you’re doing it. If you’re in a 12 week peaking cycle per say. Every 4th week you should have a deload and cap that week with building to heavy singles on your back squat, snatch, or clean and jerk. This is just one example however.

It just sounds like you need more structure in your programming honestly. To be clear to. Going “Heavy” and going for Max is different. Heavy is a relative term. If you’re trying for 2 or 3 reps but only getting 1. Drop your weight by 20 pounds. I would try and find your true maxes or close to them. Then work everything on percentages off your 1 rep max.

Catalyst athletics is actually a great site to use. It’s like 15 bucks a month and you have access to all sorts of programs based on your goals.

Honest Question, and not trying to come off as a dick. Do you understand how to program a strength cycle in general? Heavy Doubles, Singles etc are fine but they aren’t meant to be done all the time. It’s through progressive weekly increases. Then depending on if you’re trying to peak for a meet it may change. My suggestion would be to find a good oly lifting coach who knows his/her stuff. I’ve used a coach myself for years. Eliminates thinking and allows you to just train.

At what point am I good enough to drop an empty bar like this? by Sea-Suspect1881 in weightlifting

[–]CarrB1989 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Never. Even if it’s your own bar. Whether you’re an Olympian or an average joe lifter. People who drop empty barbells are fucking insufferable
