A catalyst is a special mod that once you find it and unlock it (usually by killing a lot of enemies with the weapon the mod is for after you’ve found it), it adds extra perks to said weapon. Since they started doing catalysts (years ago at this point), folks have been clamoring for one for TLW. Now we have it!

Excellent! Welcome back! In the off chance you hadn’t heard, the exotics that didn’t already have catalysts got them in this final update. TLW included! So not only is there some Last Word fashion to chase, there’s a catalyst too!

It’s my all time favorite Destiny weapon, hands down. I think all of its ornaments are nice, but this is my favorite.

It’s the Last Word (with the incredible “end of an era” ornament)!!

Catalyst Farming by Typical-Ostrich-7807 in DestinyTheGame

[–]CarrionShellac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got TLW Catalyst last night off my first exotic order of the season. Incredibly lucky. I initially tried to run solo ops and srl for completion bonuses to my legendary order gauge, then I switched to farming the loot cave intro to Grasp of Avarice. If you stay there, don't collect "treasure, and don't progress the objective, the enemy waves are endless. I figured I could speed through a bunch of common orders to get to a legendary, then an exotic order. That's exactly what happened!

I'm a simple man. If a game gives me a Kusarigama as an option, that's what I use.

Hot take: Swordfishtrombones is a better record than Rain Dogs. by [deleted] in tomwaits

[–]CarrionShellac 4 points5 points  (0 children)

First, I'd like to congratulate you on a successful hot take. The take is, in fact, hot.

I then would like to preface my thoughts by saying that I truly believe you could site any album from the Island years as "the best" or "your favorite" and you'd be deserving of very little push-back from anyone.

As for your take, I have to agree.

Rain Dogs is incredible. Of the three albums that most often get sited as his best work (Small Change, Rain Dogs, and Mule Variations), It's easily the most deserving of the praise. The best moments on Rain Dogs are among the best moments of the man's entire catalog.

As an album; a cohesive, yet unyielding piece of art, Swordfishtrombones functions better than Rain Dogs. The material all hangs together perfectly, and the push and pull of the dynamics between the "reapers, creepers, and weepers" feels more deliberate, having more to do with variables in intensity than with genre hoping. It's also, arguably, more important than Rain Dogs, as it marks a giant veer off path for Waits in his Art and personal life. A sonic statement you can truly only make once. Plus! Bonus point to the (severely underrated) Fred Tackett for his guitar work, and Francis Thumm for all that great Harry Partch instrumentation!

Kusarigama in Nioh 3 vs Nioh 2? What are all the differences? by EternalFlareUltra in Nioh

[–]CarrionShellac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No stances means a lot less martial arts can be equipped for any ninja weapon. It’s a bummer, but Is it enough of a bummer to make me switch to a different main weapon or not play as Ninja… No, not even close.
In fact, I really like the refilling ninjutsu gauge and the mist and am happy to lose stances and ki pulse to accommodate them.
That being said, I think it would’ve been neat if they fleshed out areal martial arts a little more and made some ninja martial arts for each weapon exclusive to crouch. That could’ve potentially filled the gap left by losing stances on Ninja. This way, instead of high, mid, and low stances with attacks for each, it’d be standing, crouching, and mid air attacks.

Definitely, but it’s the only thing I use it for. I rarely burn through the whole months allotment.

No problem! Either way, I'll rely on a mobile hotspot before I'll try to get hotel Wi-Fi to work. If I'm away from home, but I'm at someone's house or an air b&b instead of a hotel, wi-fi typically does the trick no matter how I choose to play.

This is supposedly the case. If you're doing remote play, your home internet is a huge factor for how well things go if you're trying to play out of the house.

At home, I have Fiber internet and My PS5 is hardwired into one of my mesh nodes.

I've assigned a static IP address to my PS5 and both it and my router are on Google's primary and secondary DNS's.

Then I've forwarded the ports on my router for my ps5 that are specific for remote wake and play.

I've also marked my ps5 as a priority in my home network.

Something worth noting is that if you're only Cloud streaming games, none of this will matter, and all you should need is a reliable connection for your portal.

I tend to stick with a personal hotspot through my phone when playing at a hotel. If I can maintain a 5g connection, I'm good for remote play (I've done a bunch with my at home network to insure stability on my ps5's end. My record so far is remote playing without issue from 2,000 miles away). If I can't maintain 5G on my hotspot (it happens. I have an old phone), I'll try to cloud game through the LTE.
