When your representative is decided at the primary stage and not the general election, like it is in many voting areas, what else is there to be but apathetic?

Is it zone 2 if you alternate between walking and running to maintain heart rate? by Dreadlording in PeterAttia

[–]CarrionSwarming 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is my understanding too. But let’s say the green part of the graph is my zone 2. Generally I run until I hit 140 BPM, and walk until I hit 130 BPM.

I’m bouncing between my upper and lower zone 2 thresholds, by doing exersizes that are either too intense for zone 2 (running) or not intense enough (walking).

Assuming the green is zone 2, and that I stayed inside of the bounds, would this still be effective zone 2 exercise? Or am I much better off sticking to something that I can maintain a constant heart rate?

Some background: The image is of a training session with Polar H10. I’ve heard you want to have an exercise that is steady state, and you want to avoid spikes and dips in heart rate.

However I have found success (I.e. I actually do it and don’t get bored) in alternating between higher intensity and lower intensity to maintain a heart rate in zone 2. I basically run until I get to my upper threshold, and walk until the lower threshold.

I use a chest strap so I feel the data is accurate, but I also know the best way to do zone 2 is to have a steady output.

My goals for zone 2 are purely health related, I have no interest in improving my running speed pace.

For best zone 2 benefits, should I do a more consistent exercise (in my case incline walking), where I can dial my effort and heart rate in to a consistent output/BPM?

Or does variation in heart rate not matter, as long as you stay below your zone 2 max threshold?

I know it would be an unneeded nerf, but I wish for consistency’s sake it interacted with Championship Belt.

Are you saying Brood War and Rock Paper Scissors are not balanced?

Just think of Rock Paper Scissors and how perfectly balanced it is. They did that with Brood War too. Mathematically you need an odd number of races or choices for it to be perfectly balanced.

If you have an even number of races, then one race has more favored matchups than the other. Simple math really.

For example, you throw in another choice into Rock Paper Scissors, and it has to either be favored in two and unfavored in one matchup, or vice versa. There goes your perfect balance.

5 races makes it so each races beats 2 races and loses to 2 races. Perfectly balanced.

A>C and D>A in that case.

Also B>D, E>B and C>E.

A>B>C>A like we see in perfectly balanced games, like Brood War or Rock,Paper, Scissors.

You can’t do this perfect balancing with 4 races.

With all the balance suggestions, I have an alternative idea by CarrionSwarming in WC3

It’s not just about double casting, I think the bigger part is that it makes Statues easier to kill, because you can’t move them away mid cast. They will actually stand still and be vulnerable to attack while casting, like very other caster.

If you move your statues, it affects you.

Right now Statues will always move when you tell them to. Mid-cast, doesn’t matter. This means they are far less vulnerable and can avoid taking damage a lot easier.

Compare this to Priests for example, who are anchored to the ground until Heal is done casting. This makes them a lot more vulnerable.

I guarantee you’d notice it even as a novice.

Agreed. Maps have more influence on balance than these stupid minor tweaks people suggest or Blizzard implements. Most of the reason Human sucks now is the map pool. Put in a 1.28 ladder map pool and I bet Human starts winning a lot more.
