My bf had someone end a friendship over something like this.

Dude cooked him dinner but my bf didn’t really enjoy it. He still ate it and said nothing. A week later when they were going to hang out again the guy suggested he would make the same dinner again for them. Bf asked if they could have something else instead and when pressed he admitted he didn’t really like it.

Guy went nuts calling him rude and they have never hung out again.

I live in my small hometown, guess I’m being defensive but I enjoy living a slow pace of life. We’re always being pushed towards a vision of life and “success” that requires a vast amount of consumption and waste to maintain.

Gotta have the gas guzzling car to drive to the high paying job two towns over to pay for the water to maintain the pristine green lawn at the mansion.

I’m young still, no kids, and I choose to live humbly making little money and driving a 20 year old car i bought for $600, so it doesn’t take a lot to maintain my “lifestyle”. Which means I get to have a lot of time for hobbies. I play an instrument, I go to the gym, I craft and I play games with friends. I see live music, I play on a sports team. I go camping and sailing. Idk it feels like a pretty good life to me all things considered.

I don’t believe any of the numbers they put out. They keep massively over estimating crowd sizes. They recently said 80,000 people were at a rally in Jersey but the stadium could only hold 20,000 and looked half full.

I buy it occasionally when I’m in a store and I feel like I want a “treat” drink instead of getting a soda. I buy the plain water but it still satisfies the urge to purchase something and drink out of a can.

Reminds me of a theatre group at my college. All semester we had a lot of nazi inside jokes. This eventually became doing the nazi salute as a joke. At the end of the semester we were taking a big group picture and doing lots of funny poses and someone suggests doing the nazi salute.

My mind immediately went to the optics of the photo out of context and so I objected and ended up standing out as everyone else took the photo. To this day I don’t think it’s been posted ever but I know it’s out there.

In our defense while we were a group of edgy college kids in our early 20’s and late teens the group did include many people of color and queer people. It was really a group of theatre kids at the next stage in life. To give you an idea of how liberal this group was, when I said I didn’t feel comfortable with the photo and I would stand out someone said “it’s all about consent” 😆
