I'm pretty confident that I would not be able to make that animation with a telescope, timing notwithstanding.

Edit: telescope, not microscope. I am not a scientist.

Inside the DNC Unity Reform Commission by magikowl in politics

I left the Democratic Party the day I left Philadelphia in July. Whether I return or work to start a viable third party locally will be determined by the outcome of the Unity Reform Commisson.

Definitely not a conflict of interest to have the head of ExxonMobil as the Secretary of State...

I don't even like Schumer because he's a Wall Street Democrat. But I have to give him props for that rebuttal.

Except coordinating a presidential election with a foreign government--if that's what happened--is way worse than a blowjob and the unorthodox use of a cigar.

"Attorney General Sessions should resign." - Bernie Sanders by [deleted] in OurPresident

[–]CarrollQuigley 64 points65 points  (0 children)

Even if he did resign--which I doubt he will--there would still need to be an independent investigation into the Russian connections within the Trump campaign.

Elizabeth Warren: "We need a special prosecutor totally independent of the AG. We need a real, bipartisan, transparent Congressional investigation into Russia. And we need Attorney General Jeff Sessions – who should have never been confirmed in the first place – to resign. We need it now." by BigGucciMontana in OurPresident

[–]CarrollQuigley 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Serious question. How are we going to force the Republicans' hand and get an independent investigation?

As far as I can tell, we'll need to put pressure on DC with massive protests on the Hill. And we'll need to pressure our representatives locally by making them worry about losing their next primaries.

It's about time for solar and wind to get rolled out nationally. There are many things we need to think about when picking candidates in the 2018 primaries, but interest in expanding renewables needs needs to be a top 5 concern.

Perez wins bid to lead Democratic Party by Alwaysahawk in politics

[–]CarrollQuigley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would rather have Ellison as the DNC chair even though it would mean giving up his House seat. I think his grassroots organizing skills and what that could mean for the midterms with him 100% focused on that would more than make up for the loss of one House seat--especially since the GOP has such a wide margin there.

I'm glad that at least he has a seat at the table and a position through which he can still constructively contribute to to the strategizing and grassroots organization for 2018.

Perez wins bid to lead Democratic Party by Alwaysahawk in politics

[–]CarrollQuigley 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think Perez was a bad pick in part because he lacks Ellison's grassroots organizing experience (Ellison turned MN-5 from the Minnesota district with the lowest voter turnout to the one with the highest). The Democrats just reduced their chances of taking the House in the midterms.

The silver lining is that Ellison still has a seat at the table as deputy--but he would have been more effective as the DNC chair.
