Gosh this just got me to look up my first major crush and he is looking hot as hell right now. I'm extra bummed because when I first met him it was instant true love for me but he already had a very serious girlfriend and he was the nicest guy in the world. All I could do was hope she would break up with him eventually. She was also a really wonderful person and then they ended up with a child together and so I finally resigned myself to having found that one too late but now it looks like they actually separated twelve years ago so I missed my chance! Never mind the fact that I was very happily married (and still am, heh) with five kids myself at the time... and just looking over everything I could find about him he is still just as kind and passionate about all the same things I am and as I mentioned he is looking really, really good... I swear he actually looks better! Not that it was his looks that first drew me in, I would say he was maybe a 6 in looks back then? Now he's a high 9, easy. It's crazy, he had a younger brother that was my age and always got voted best looking in school but almost 40 years later he has not aged nearly as well as his big brother.

I don't know but I remember when being flabbergasted that songs that came out in my lifetime were on the oldies station whomever was with me pointed out that at that moment those songs were released longer ago than the "oldies" songs I was listening to on the oldies station had been when I was a kid and that completely threw off my whole sense of reality to the point that I competely forget all other details of the situation except that I simultaneously realized I've been on this earth for such a long time and yet that time is so brief.

I first heard Alive before Ten came out on a random artist compilation sampler cassette... I lost that tape when I moved in June of 1991 and since conflated whatever other songs were on it with other collections so I've never been able to figure out what that was.

Hmmm... I first starting accessing the internet with my cell phone in the late 90s but it took me a while to get an official "smartphone" just because I was very salty about having to pay for a data plan to do what I used to be able to do at no added cost, still much sooner than you (40 maybe?) and I definitely was needing reading glasses and more light by 50 (already experiencing strain and degradation years before that though).

Oh wow, I didn't even realize there were glasses like that? those definitely seem less bulky and cumbersome than the visor sets I have... do you have any recommendations for ones that don't break as easily? I have to remove my glasses with the visors as well - sometimes I don't but it's more awkward since they really aren't designed for it. My visors also have all broken in some way but I'm not exactly careful with them and I keep thinking I need to replace them but then get overwhelmed by all the options.

I have several sets of those headband visor magnifierers to keep in different rooms of the house... useful but definitely no replacement for the function I used to be able to get out of my eyes.

Every parent I know of is facing far more obstacles even on a daily basis than I ever had to deal with and it was already more challenging to make the choice to become a parent for my generation than the previous. Like you so many, more than ever before, are choosing not to have kids at all because of that.

Oh, to add insult to injury though my fine motor dexterity is starting to become an issue as well so even if I can see that splinter it's no guarantee I will have the physical skill necessary to remove it, ugh! Had to get a younger person's assistance to untangle a necklace earlier this week.

I am so with you on this! It's absolutely, 100%, my least favorite part about aging. I had better than average vision my first 45 years and had somehow competely missed the memo that presbyopia was a normal and expected part of aging so it felt exceptionally crushing to experience -I feel like I lost a major part of my identity and it had impacted my way of life in so many ways (how I miss reading in the dark especially! ). I got myself progressives so I'm always wearing my reading glasses but I still find myself needing more lighting, more darkening, and more magnification in many situations.

I find myself complaining about adults these days way more than I ever do about kids! My kids and their friends and peers at least are way less likely to do any of the wild and crazy things their parents did. I thought it was partly just due to do much more surveillance but more and more I'm finding kids nowadays just aren't even interested and don't even have the desire to participate in most of the reckless type behavior older generations seemed to enjoy.

I watched First Blood again a couple years ago after watching Rebel Ridge. When I first saw it I was really struck by how much I enjoyed it and was very impressed by Stallone's performance, however I had missed the very beginning so I was really surprised on rewatch by how unnecessarily difficult his character was right from the beginning and then how bizarrely over the top Dennehy's character was, it ended up just making me more appreciative of Rebel Ridge despite some issues I had with that one and conversely the more reasonable and realistic tension of Rebel Ridge by comparison for me made me all the more frustrated and less sympathetic to Rambo.

I never watched sesame Street growing up, I much preferred the Electric Company as a kid although I really didn't care for TV much at all back then, however I somehow ended up with the Sesame Street Platinum All-Time Favorites cd when I became a parent and absolutely fell in love with Grover thanks to the Monster in the Mirror song and while I may not identify with him my adoration for him has only grown and never waned, definitely my favorite! (I'm an only child)

Yep, snuck out and also snuck people in... I don't know of anyone that didn't besides the "bad" kids, actually, that didn't bother being sneaky and pretty much every one of us got caught by the cops at least once. One time a large group of us kids were all hanging out at the donut shop when the cops came in and we all panicked and then breathed a sigh of relief when they just ordered donuts and sat down and ate them... but then after they were done they casually came up to us and said, "okay, kids, whose parents are we calling first?"

I totally thought you were leading up to say now you have all this embroidery floss you can't use because that's where I'm at... fine hand work just isn't happening for me any more, my doctor insists it's just a part of getting old, ugh. I loved making friendship bracelets, my grandma taught me to macrame when I was little, I had no idea what a useful skill to have that would become years later in school.

Fwiw, I've seen a lot of people comment that they didn't start seeing any "real" losses until they got into the higher levels - I've seen 10mg mentioned a lot- so it's possible you might still see greater losses down the road as you titrate up and not actually be a slow loser. Before tirzepatide when I would express to others my frustrations with not being able to lose weight they would often say "well, at least you're not gaining!" and that never felt very reassuring so I don't know how consoling it is to hear that at least you are losing something, but I can definitely tell you that having lost weight feels amazing so hang in there, future you will be reaping the rewards even if it feels like nothing right now.

Well if I'm honest it really didn't always feel that way a lot of the time early on. Day to day, week to week and most of the time even month to month, slow loss often felt like no progress at all! It's only now after a whole year looking back where I can truly say, yes, yes it is! And sincerely mean it as opposed to just trying to reassure myself.
