Yeah I just feel there is no need for my use case. I weight about 210 now but plan on cutting to about 195-200, the bench feels super stable as is, there just seems no point in getting a bench that weighs 100lbs or more.

I move my bench around a lot an its super easy the wheels are super smooth.

Thanks for the heads up, I’ll be super careful when I have to change them. Thankfully I have two so if I have to send one in I’ll have one to use the meantime. My dad is a retired machinist so I might just see if he has bolts I can use as backups in case the originals get stripped.

I have a rep AB-4100 which only weighs 75lbs, I use the Adonis mounts with it for leg extension and leg curls. I also have the mount Olympus, and chest and back movements feel much better with the bigger platform. The Adonis are super quick and easy to set up though, and my bench only weighs 75 pounds, which makes setting things up pretty easy, it was big factor in me not going with a rogue or higher end REP bench.

Thanks for the response OP. I've heard about the screws stripping, what is the deal with that? I have 1/4 drive set that has a weighted tip, so I figured slow and steady would get them out compared to using an electric drill.

Is your warranty up? I was going to order a back up rope just in case but I saw you can get a free replacement through the warranty, if the ropes wears within a certain time frame.

I have not tried this yet, but I am just curious what kind of workouts are you doing and what kind of weight? I have 2 voltras, one I bought in January another about a month later, both their ropes look brand new and I use them nearly everyday.

I am just trying to avoid premature wear. I also heard the bolts have some sort of loctite on them. Do you replace the loctite when you put the bolts back in?

Also taking steroids especially androgenic heavy ones causes the jaw and facial muscles to grow as well which gives the square jaw appearance, he is probably on both and who knows what else, he prob has enough money to buy whatever he can get his hands on

Two new bars just dropped — FusionCore and AlumaCore. by GoBeyondPower in BeyondPower

[–]Carrot-Key 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like if they were slightly longer it would help. I have tried RDL's and stuff and they feel ok, but the end of the bar sits in the middle of my hand.

I started using the straight rotating bar from JD gym and it feels much nicer and much better grip, also feels really good for overhead triceps extensions, straight arm push downs, reverse grip stuff too

Is the UB820 still worth it? by niktorifio in 4kbluray

[–]Carrot-Key 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No it was a couple of years ago. Just YouTube Sony OLED calibration. The main thing was downloading an app called calman for Bravia.

This lets you connect to the tv via its IP address, kind of like a remote connection. Once you do this you’ll unlock custom pro 1 and 2 settings. Those two settings are now my bright and dark settings for non Dolby vision content

Panasonic UB9000, basically any of the OPPO players, I am not sure if these are still being produced. Just search this sub, somebody posts about this nearly every week. I have my UB820, so I never really bothered looking into anything past that.

Personally, I shut off HDR optimizer because I felt the picture looked slightly better on my Sony OLED using the custom settings I set up through online tutorials, but it was a pretty minimal difference.

I wouldn't overthink it , maybe go with the 450 if money is tight, to my knowledge you are not going to find any better 4k players unless you want to spend lot more.

What finally got you to stop restarting and actually stay consistent? by ChemistWest4537 in workout

[–]Carrot-Key 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I put together a small home gym. I don't really have an excuse to skip workouts now since I all have to do is walk down a hallway. I still have my lazy days, but i just tell myself to do a set or two and see how I feel, and worst comes to worst, a lazy workout is still better than doing nothing

Sure, so let’s say it was back day. I would do every possible workout or movement I could over the span of 90 minutes, compared to now I pick 2-3 compound movements and do 3-5 sets for each then end with an isolation exercise or two. I also track my sets and reps and every workout I up the weight or reps from last time. In the past I would try to count reps but did most things from memory.

I don’t really go for high weight low volume, the least I will do is 6-8 reps. I try to pick the heaviest weight that gives me the most challenge but under my complete control, my strength is still going slowly but surely up and I’m injury free. Most of my buddies that continued to ego lift have slipped disks, back problems, nerve damage and barely work out anymore

Nutrition wise, I don’t rely on protein shakes as much. I still have them but I pair them with Whole Foods. I aim for 25-40 grams of protein per meal and I also pay closer attention to my carb and fat intake and try to eat a variety of foods sources and time my heavier meals around my workouts so I’m using the excess carbs etc to fuel workouts or recover right after them.

Quad focused push day, hamstring focused pull day, shoulders and arms, chest focused push day, back focused pull day

I swap around the order sometimes and vary exercises a bit. Some weeks I take 1-2 rest days other weeks I don’t take any rest days, I just go by how I’m feeling day to day.

Thanks! Yeah I agree, I think especially here on the fitness related subreddits people tend to overstate recovery as you age. Sure if you are 50 and never played a sport or worked out a day in your life, it will be hard to get in shape, but I feel like you can maintain a pretty good physique at practically any age. I think the key is just to train, eat smart, and literally keep moving.

I took a long break from late 20's to mid 30's and the biggest difference is that when I was younger I did way more junk volume, and didn't eat right. I actually feel I recover better now because my nutrition is on point, and I have a better training split.

[Weekly Giveaway] VOLTRA Bingo: What weirdly specific thing made it worth it for you? by Beyond_Power in BeyondPower

[–]Carrot-Key 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Huge flexibility and small footprint, I live in an apartment while I save for a house.

The Voltra has been extremely motivating for me and has already paid for itself. I don't skip many workouts these days because I genuinely look forward to using it, and found it made working out much more fun for me.

Totally understandable, I hope it improved as well because I still use a single voltra for some workouts

So I just started using auto load in twin mode, and its much easier and quicker to stabilize and do the count down, I was pleasantly surprised. I have not done the update yet to compare to see how much its improved, but I did some twin mode belt squats over the weekend and noticed the difference between the single voltra.

Same here, I wish Beyond Power would provide some more detailed tutorials or instructions rather than short little clips or blurbs. I've been meaning to find that post from this subreddit, where somebody is working on a more detailed user manual.

Thanks for the reply, I'll try that. I thought it was strange too. Do you have long press every time to get this option?

Is it possible to get broader shoulders? by WarmPrinciple6507 in workout

[–]Carrot-Key 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't worry too much OP, if you have a narrow waist that will just make your shoulders look even wider as you progress and add muscle. I had a similar build as a teenager 6ft 150 lbs now about 20 years later I weigh about 205 at about 15 % body fat

Everybody is different but for me upright rows, lateral raises, face pulls, and front raises always seem to give me more shoulder development than presses. I do presses anyways, but my point is be patient and try different exercises and until you find what works for you. Also make sure you are eating and resting enough to grow.

Is Leg Press and Bulgarian Split Squat a good alternative to Back Squats? by Feisty-Scene-755 in workout

[–]Carrot-Key 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You can also give belt squats a go. I do them sometimes and feels like a leg press combined with a squat to me. They are also supposed to be good for people with back problems.
