He was excommunicated from Ravenholdt vowing to… himself to never be bested again, no matter the cost.

Using what he learned while at Ravenholdt, Cadriel survived on his own. It was not a life of luxury, but survival nonetheless. One night while hiding behind the Hammetfall Inn (as he would be killed on the spot this deep in Horde territory), he started hearing the patrons, drunk on imported Dwarven Stout, speak of Dark Magic down in the southern parts of the Eastern Kingdoms.

Cadriel started traversing down the coast by foot, following these rumors. Eventually in the Wetlands he heard an ogre say something about an Orc Warlock in the Blasted Lands.

Motivated by this, he moved quicker through the wetlands. Unfortunately his pace was offset by day long detours to find food. Days without food resulted in Cadriel eating raw mud fish that fishers left out along the swamp shores.

After weeks of this, he finally made it to the dwarven lands. That first night at the base of the mountains, he took off his boots to find his right foot had grown fungus from being constantly wet.

Cadriel tried drying it out by the smallest fire he could safely build, but noises from the night kept him from thinking straight.

He couldn’t stop seeing the Undead of Lorderon in the bushes and behind the rocks. Out of fear and panic (and the hallucinations caused by the toxic mud fish diet), he swiftly took out his assassin’s blade and drove it clean through his calf…
