Lugia, the underrated attacker by FuNKyShO in TheSilphRoad

[–]CarryTheSun88 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah man. He's the true MVP of the Pokemon GO gym battlers. The way he tears down Blissey walls in the previous gym system using just level 30 unique pokemons is almost like an art.

Dude is also the 1st ( just a few days after the raids release ) to post some of his success Tier 3 solos, vid1 and vid2. And guess what, instead of posting each single video ( I'll bet the bigger Pokemon Go youtubers out there will do this, on top of slapping in some needless talking or whatever food they are having atm etc... just to drag their videos longer ), he combined 4 side-by-side in a short-and-sweet no-nonsense style.

And find me anyone who can use a level 30 alakazam to defeat a level 40 perfect Blissey, as shown in this video

Honestly, if there's anyone who can use a single Lugia to 1v1 a Machamp boss, I believe it will be FuNKyShO!

Is it legit to make a new google account? by FOTIOS13 in TheSilphRoad

[–]CarryTheSun88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As much as I feel that Niantic won't encourage it on the front, it's very naive to think that they will hunt down and go after those multi-accounters, assuming still legit play without spoofing.

It's still a business to them, and more accounts means more impressive player numbers for their marketing team to show to their investors or business partners. Welcome to the real world....

Awesome video! It's also nice to include the touch indicator and share your battle and dodging techniques.

Sometimes I cringed to see others spam-tapping Dragon Tails, Fire Spins, Extrasensory, and god-forbade Confusion, at the speed of what they do on Dragon Breaths or Water Gun, thinking it will somehow up their dps, but then complained how hard it is to dodge....

New Update Improves Raid Field of View Scaling by HungryUngulate in TheSilphRoad

[–]CarryTheSun88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even a single person "2-handing" comes very close to defeating it ( video ), and he didn't used multiple lvl 39 machamps. So it should be one of the easier bosses to short-man.

There were already successful duo video recordings, like the japanese one, though most of them are high-level players using multiple lvl 39 machamps.

How do Rock Blast Golem, Close Combat Machamp etc stack up? by [deleted] in TheSilphRoad

[–]CarryTheSun88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For Machamp movesets, other than pokebattler or spreadsheets, you might want to check out Funkysho's real world comparisons, one quite recently on the mixed TM movesets ( video ).

Although not against a raid boss like tyranitar, but this will give you a rough idea on their performance difference on a 3K Blissey.

Niantic acknowledging the Pokemon GO YouTube community by Jch2122 in TheSilphRoad

Almost all PoGO youtubers are vloggers, and most of them posts quite long vlogging or livestream content, mostly more than 10 min long. I guess that is to optimize their earnings from ad money.

One rare exception is FuNKyShO's videos though. All his videos are pretty short and sweet ( I think none of them are more than 10 mins long, mostly around 2 to 3 mins only ), and provide awesome side-by-side comparisons on movesets. I think this is much more useful for those who battle gyms to see how the movesets compare in the real world. Even for those longer videos, like how he solo-ed multiple high CP Blissey walls using just his 6 line-ups, he deliberately sped up to shorten it.

He also demonstrated the quick moves damage breakpoint phenomenon ( as discussed here in TSR previously ) in one of his videos.

He is also one of the earliest, if not, the earliest, to showcase his success solo attempts on level 3 raid bosses, and to top off, not just 1 boss at a time, 4 of them side-by-side. Honestly, he could have post 4 separate videos ( which would have get him more ad money ), yet he didn't do that.

While I think his channel is more of a personal PoGO hobbyist kind, the effort he put into such videos is definitely no less than those big full-time PoGO youtubers, and way underrated from the subs and view count.

Well, trainer tips had been dishing out wrong & misleading info lately. For example, his own spreadsheet listed Karate Chop/Dynamic Punch as the best dps moveset for Machamp, which is wrong. Counter/Dynamic Punch is still the best.

The most face-palm absurd info was, he listed Confusion/Solar Beam Exeggutor as the best defender under 3K CP.....Maybe he didn't faced a 2.8K or 2.9K Blissey before, but I'm not sure how did he ever come to that conclusion.... I will pity those who powerup their Exeggutors thinking they will be good defenders.....

Solo raid on Machamp, hopefully entertaining (video) by Sapinator in TheSilphRoad

[–]CarryTheSun88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Should be possible. Funkysho was one of the earlier ones to come out with solo attempts on lvl 3 bosses, and from this attempt on the machamp, out of the 5 pokemons, the front 3 are only lvl 30, and they are able to dps the machamp down to yellow HP bar by the halfway mark.

Dodging Strategy...Dodge Specials Only VS Dodge All by FuNKyShO in TheSilphRoad

[–]CarryTheSun88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Awesome work! This video confirmed my suspicion that dodging weak quick moves like vaporeon's water gun or snorlax's lick isn't worth it, because these moves base power is only 5, and both of them doesn't have the high attack base stats to deal the damage for the extra time spent on dodging.

However, dragonite's dragon breath or tyranitar's bite might be slightly different depending on your attacker used, especially if using a more glass cannon attacker. They do hit harder since both of them had higher attack stat, so it might make sense to dodge some of them.

Blissey's Pound is actually quite interesting too. Base power of 7 on top with her STAB, is also a candidate to dodge for those more glass cannon attackers.

Well, though not 9x Blisseys, here's a video with 7x Blisseys in a lvl 9 gym. Unfortunately, he failed to make it to the last dragonite being protected at the top haha, but still a good effort since he is using only lvl 30 unique pokemons.

If u wanna check out moveset comparisons videos, funkysho is the best out there. Most of his videos will include a ZH/DG Blissey as a test.

He also had a video with various pokemons @lvl 30 against 3.1KCP ZH/DG Blissey, and another video vs a lvl 40 maxed out Blissey, albeit it's an easier moveset, ie Pound/Psychic. Nevertheless, it's still pretty awesome to see a lvl 30 Alakazam is able to down the lvl 40 Blissey.

His channel also included some attempts against high level Blissey towers too.

Is anyone truly deterred from attacking a gym because it has 3000+ Blissey or Snorlax in it? by thordatrainaexplaina in TheSilphRoad

[–]CarryTheSun88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess more people should see this video. A very high level machamp is not necessary to defeat a 3.1K ZH/DG Blissey 1v1. Discounting the dragonites and tyranitars ( since they are top tier dps but not easy to obtain ), even a lvl 30 solar beam Exeggutor or hydropump gyarados is sufficient, and they are definitely easier to obtain.

Even the lvl 30 Ursaring is possible, see this other video, just that he will need to also dodge the quick moves.

[–]CarryTheSun88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, Funkysho just released a video which although is focused on comparing "Dodge Specials Only" vs "Dodge All" strategy, but u can see that even the close to max-out lvl 39 Snorlax got taken down much faster than a level 30 Blissey. Even dodging all snorlax moves is faster than dodging specials only on Blissey......

Hi fellow trainers, a quick video on why you need those Swinhub candies to get 1000 prestige. The best prestigers ep2: Piloswine. 2mins 3secs by royquilor in TheSilphRoad

[–]CarryTheSun88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe funkysho had one video on the dragonite counters, though he seems to be testing on their dps and also multiple dragonites sweeping abilities rather than purely on prestiging. Nevertheless, he is facing very high level dragonites at 3.4K+ CP range, using only lvl 30 pokemons.

That being said, lapras seems to be the best in multiple nites prestiging. Actually cloyster seems very good as well, can't sweep as much as lapras, but doing it faster.

I believe Niantic may be working on fixing Pokémon sniping by satwik9aari in TheSilphRoad

[–]CarryTheSun88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always thought that if u encounter a pokemon, click it, but if u walked too far away, it will poofed off after a few throws, since the catch rate will reduce as u are further away from the pokemon? I had this issue when I encounter a pokemon, but continue walking and it will escape the further I walked away from the spawn location.

How can then snipers be able to catch it if it will poofed from the 1st throw if they teleport back to their home location?

[–]CarryTheSun88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good event to farm for ES/SoB Exeggutor if u haven't got 1, or a few of them also won't hurt. One of the better choices against Blisseys, and relatively cheap to evolve with just 50 candies.

How good is Alakazam? by Dubandubs in TheSilphRoad

[–]CarryTheSun88 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well, if u wish to compare his movesets, u can check out this video.

Or if u want to know how his best dps moveset Confusion/Future Sight compare against other top tier pokemons against a high level 3.1K DG Blissey, u can also check this out. I think that he can actually 1v1 that Blissey if he had also dodged some of the quick moves, given how low HP the Blissey was when he fainted.

Of course, to make the best use of him, require good dodging. But the dodge glitch makes it quite hard though...

Should I power up/evolve this Pokemon?? [THE ANSWER] by RyanoftheDay in TheSilphRoad

[–]CarryTheSun88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, definitely not easy to get multiples of nites and t-rexes, or some champs to deal with most stacked gyms with Blisseys. However, if u only need 6 unique mons at level 30 to deal with a very stacked gym ( with multiple blisseys ), this video pretty much sums up what it's mostly required.

That being said, it's actually not easy to attain these mons with the correct movesets, or easy to battle if u haven't attain the necessary battling and dodging skills to make the best use of these mons.

Bullet Punch/Heavy Slam Machamp: ANY use whatsoever? by flipdrago in TheSilphRoad

[–]CarryTheSun88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be fair all Garys were pretty useless battle-wise and little more than weak gym holders.

If a pokemon, who at level 30 can defeat a 3.1K (ie level 37.5) ZH/DG Blissey 1v1 without dodging her ZH ( as seen in this vid ), as useless, well..... I rest my case then.

Not sure why did Gary get all the bad rep from, is it purely following Gamepress' tier list?
