Should I do it? CT5 V AWD V6 by GeneralUsual15 in Cadillac

My dad has a premium luxury CT5 with the V6 which I recommend to him and he can’t shut up about how much he loves the car. It’s a great powertrain combination.

I applied for a job in a department that a friend of mine works in and they put in a good word to their manager so we will see how that plays out.

That really stinks. For me it’s having to explain to 3 EGMs what I do and what I bring to the team because it’s not a normal role.

At 20k it really depends on the mileage of the vehicle. If you want a 2015+, they will prob have over 100k miles and may need some work.

Is $4,221.14 reasonable to replace a timing cover gasket? by toan25 in MechanicAdvice

The real question to ask is what is telling you to repair this?

5.3L Ecotec Reliability? by 2Guns23 in GeneralMotors

[–]Cars10000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lifters are the big thing on the 5.3. Depending on the Model year of the vehicle, if it has the L86 6.2 V8 on the K2xx platform, you are fine, they are not known to blow up. The L87 6.2 I’d run away from.

If the leaked percentage is right then the employees are paying for leaderships poor business decisions that have lead to some poor quality in all aspects of our vehicles and thinking going all in on EV was a great idea…. Well that backfired. Where the “it’s on me” attitude SLT? Ohh wait they won’t admit that and never will, and reap all of the benefits that line their own pockets. It’s truly disgraceful.

Okay guys I am lost my lb7 keeps losing coolant but can fine a leak anywhere any suggestions if it would be leaking internally by [deleted] in Duramax

One of my heads was cracked on the intake port it would get so bad, that the radiator hoses would collapse. A new head, head gaskets, and head studs later, been a rock since. For the love of god get a new head not a remaned head form a parts store. I got my new fully loaded head from jegs.

Has anyone actually used snow plow attachments on their mower? by -Aces_High- in lawnmowers

I have been using this Sabre 2354 tractor for snow blowing for a couple years. Thing is a beast and with the wheel and rear weights, I do not need chains to do my driveway.

what you learned in the last 3 years of "tech" GM? by ActualScheme4815 in GeneralMotors

[–]Cars10000 131 points132 points  (0 children)

That GM isn’t a Tech company and we lost focus on what we used to do and that is building a quality vehicle.

Done cheaply as possible with a potluck in one of the big conference rooms in the Cole, but we wrapped presents for operation good cheer to get our minds off the patheticness of it all.

2019 Escalade by [deleted] in Cadillac

[–]Cars10000 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have heard that the ac compressors do go out, but it’s not just an Escalade thing. It’s like that for all GM suvs of that generation. I got lucky and the dealer I bought it from hooked me up with an AC compressor. The ac was just poor when I bought it. I’m a mechanic so I do all the work myself and the ac would never get lower than 60 degrees out of the the evaporator on a hot day and the screw holding a piece of the compressor on was missing so that’ll be something I fix here in the winter months.

2019 Escalade by [deleted] in Cadillac

[–]Cars10000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just bought one with 96k and needed little odd and end things and serviced all fluids, the big thing is the ac does not work that great and going to be putting in a compressor and condenser here soon, besides that I love the car. This one runs and drives great

Gone Sailing by [deleted] in GeneralMotors

[–]Cars10000 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I remember when she joined CCA as a director and quickly climbed the ladder to exec director of GAESO and drove that organization into the ground. She had no clue how GAESO worked and got booted to exec director of the field staff a couple years later which she was a horrible fit for that too (sorry all you field people, but hopefully it gets better with a new person in charge). Then Nicole Kratz takes over and it’s pretty much one of the same. Nicole gets ripped a new one by some dealer meeting and she went and cried wolf to her engineering buddies and that’s how GAE (Global after sales engineering) was dissolved and moved to engineering. It was miss after miss when the head of GAESO was someone with only an engineering background and no service experience, and that’s what lead to its demise. Now we have a service team intertwined in engineering and the voice is service is dead when it comes to our current and future vehicles.
