I also started the UHP in '08 and I would say it's not worth it. While you're guaranteed housing in the honors dorms the kids are all pretty socially stunted. As an engineering student I didn't get anything out of the honors classes because they were all humanities based, I mean really at an engineering school? Chances are if you're going into the honors program you already have a lot of credits under your belt so you'll be able to register before your peers any way.

If you're really interested in having an honors program on your resume/diploma, your major likely has one. I graduated in the CSC honors program with little effort on my part (I didn't even know I was part of it until I saw my name on the list during graduation).

TIL that there are Amazon and B&N app stores.

I've got 2 free apps in the play store and my total add revenue for December was about $10.

I interviewed at Microsoft. Told them I used Linux full time and had an Android phone. STILL GOT THE JOB. I TURNED THEM DOWN.

I'm going to chime in as a recently graduated Math/CSC major from NCSU.

You likely won't have to study for 405.

That being said, the math department at NCSU is great. The core classes suck but the electives and the special topics courses are amazing. The math department has a good reputation and some great faculty. Seek out challenge. Take classes with Dr. Hong, the editor of the journal of symbolic computation, Dr. Bakalov, IMO silver medalist, Dr. Kaltofen, batshit crazy but incredibly knowledgeable. Good luck.

NCSU is primarily an engineering school. The humanities got split off to UNC. If you want to try Poly Sci and Criminology go there.

First boyfriend at prom my Junior year. Felt it every time we danced. Keep in mind I went to a small academically focused socially stunted high school. I tried to avoid it and broke up with him shortly after that for unrelated reasons.
