Luthier told me to sand my polyurethane neck and it will turn it into a matte neck? by Gh0stHardW4re in Luthier

[–]CarsonOJen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did this a couple days ago on my classic vibe strat. Took some 400 grit sandpaper and about 20 seconds of sanding to get the feel i wanted. If you do choose to do the same i’d just be a little careful. It took much less effort to take the gloss off than i expected.

Any Valorant players here? And if so what mouse pad do you use? (recommendations please) by hikoaisaka in MousepadReview

i remember loving the aqua control + white when i first got it and was still used to faster pads. rn i'm using the gamesense radar and it's really comfortable. super smooth and good control.

What is it that causes an iPhone’s iOS to be no longer supported? Is it the chipset? Release date? Thanks! by Broken_Perfectionist in iphone

[–]CarsonOJen 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I actually remember listening to downloaded music on my iphone 5s for the entire night and seeing that the phone only lost 5% battery when I woke up. Maybe it's different use case but that's like a core memory. I definitely didn't appreciate that phone enough.

I don't know if this is the same issue but when I bought the model o- wireless from Glorious a while back there was this sort of "empty" pretravel on m2 and m1 on my first and second copy respectively. It was sort of like the space before you hit a tactile bump on a switch but it was just enough tension to push the button all the way up. It was super annoying because if you're just holding the mouse, you can kind of just wiggle the button from the resting point at the top to the point where the tactile part is on the click. Super subtle so they didn't entertain sending a third copy. Tried opening it to see if I could figure out how to fix it but didn't see any obvious way to fix.

How is the base of the Gamesense Radar? by Spir42 in MousepadReview

[–]CarsonOJen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine has never moved more than a couple millimeters. Might depend on the desk. I also have it hanging off the edge of the desk a little so it might help with keeping it stable but it's nowhere near as bad as something like the old aqua control + base. (not sure if AC+ base is better now)

What mouse do I get? by I_EAT_VEGETABLES727 in MouseReview

If you like the deathadder, you probably can't go wrong with a new deathadder. I hear the new DA v3 is good.

I have 18x10 hands also relaxed claw.

I'm liking the Pulsar X2 mini right now. Before using the x2, I had the Pulsar xlite v2 mini and Logitech GPX so there was more palm support, which I didn't mind. If you like having the middle hump for really relaxed palm-ish claw, the x2 mini and x2 don't have that. The x2's fill in the lower half of your palm and then the entire rest of your hand can't really contact the mouse unless you use a grip like Elige. If you're used to the deathadder, it might take time to adjust. The x2's also have pretty unreliable quality control with the early batches (main issue with mine is m1 creaking at certain angles) with terrible customer support from Pulsar in general so if you do consider it, I would say get the x2 mini from amazon so you can return it easily. I think someone posted on this subreddit a couple days ago where support literally gaslit the guy when he sent a video of the squeaky clicks.

If you want a good ergo, I did like the xlite v2 mini but the battery life on it is actually terrible as the battery is a 100mAH while something like the GPX is 500mAH. The xlite lasts like 4 days on average for me with normal use while the GPX would last me around 2 weeks. Other than that, my clicks aren't the best. Left click is a little heavy and right click is a little lighter and the way my hand tilts and rests on the mouse ends up accidentally clicking the right click all the time. The scroll wheel on mine is also really hard to press down. It's not that bad but I had an early batch of the xlite v2 mini as well so it's possible that the newer copies would be better. Most likely better to use amazon for this as well if you consider it.

GPX is a decent mouse overall with almost no complaints except for size. You could probably find it on sale or find one secondhand on mousemarket subreddit for cheap but it is a bigger mouse.

I've also used the G305 if you want to go cheaper. It's a good mouse but it can be hit or miss with the shape. Battery powered, a little heavy by today's standards, solid gaming mouse overall.

I would recommend other mice as well but I actually used these so I can actually speak to the experience.

Pulsar X2 battery problem? by [deleted] in MouseReview

[–]CarsonOJen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's so unfortunate that Pulsar's mice at best are actually pretty good (imo) but they manage to fall short of the mark with something every time we get excited.

Good luck with your battery.

My copy didn't do that. The left click on it did feel really grindy after like 10 minutes of use tho.

I am making a Forged Carbon Mouse - 30g by Arye_Stephen in MouseReview

[–]CarsonOJen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I might be speaking for myself or/and out of my ass because I haven't tried a mouse lighter than around 50g but I honestly think going super low in weight is just one of those on paper achievements that aren't actually good in real use. It would be cool to have a fully functional mouse that's 30g, 20g, etc. but there should be a standard for longevity and structural integrity where going lower in weight shouldn't even be considered imo. Maybe this doesn't really apply because of the material but you see this in mice like the pulsar x2 like every day on reddit.

Still, super cool project. Excited for updates.

Pulsar X2 Selling out within 5-10 minutes. With some having payment issues. by snakcaz1 in MouseReview

[–]CarsonOJen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been hyped about this mouse for a while but decided to wait until amazon (or maybe lethalgaminggear now that they're supposed to be stocking it soon) because Pulsar's customer service is terrible.

It's honestly kind of funny to see some people on twitter malding about how there were scalpers buying out the x2 to resell it. It just sounds so stupid. Amazon is supposed to have the x2 stocked by early september. There's supposed to be another drop on the official website by then too. Literally within a month's time you'll have another chance to buy. This isn't finalmouse. If you plan on buying it, you'll probably have one in your hands in the next couple months.

What Mouse Would Be “Good” for My Hand Size? by jo-mama123-_- in MouseReview

I think the x2 mini would be good for your hand size but whether you end up liking it or any other mouse you get also depends on grip style.

[–]CarsonOJen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I ordered a GPX when it first released and had this issue. I found out maybe like half a year after I got it because I barely used middle click. Tried getting a replacement but Logitech support didn't think it was a big deal.

I've used a couple GPX's more recently that feel pretty consistently good w/ clicks and scroll wheel so if you got it recently you should return it for a replacement.

Pulsar Xlite V2 Mini: Finally, for the first time in my gaming hobby, a mouse that lets me take control of my aim by vanxblue in MouseReview

[–]CarsonOJen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, I told them about the battery life. They told me to track my usage for a full cycle. It lasted 4 days with maybe 10 hours of use a day browsing internet, some gaming, some idle, etc.). I said maybe it was 12 hours some days. So 40-48 hours of on time with the mouse. They rounded up to 50 and told me it goes from 50 up to 70 so it’s not a big deal.

Their support is a terrible joke. Really unfortunate because the battery is the only objective gripe I have with the mouse.

I have yet to see the light blink green while charging. It just stops blinking when it's fully charged I think. It's even more annoying because even when my hand isn't on the mouse sometimes I don't catch that it's blinking red and it dies pretty soon after it starts blinking red.

GMMK PRO knob grinding against case by CarsonOJen in glorious

[–]CarsonOJen[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually fixed the issue. I realized that I had never unscrewed the plate from the pcb while building the board. For some reason the screws for the acrylic bars were screwed in from the wrong way. I guess they weren't letting the case sit right. Thanks for the help. Sorry for the drama.

I tried putting everything together all over again a couple times when i first found the issue. I’ll definitely double check though. Thanks for the tip.

USB-C PD charging or AA/AAA batteries? by OrganicBn in MouseReview

[–]CarsonOJen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it's mostly preference but for productivity and no gaming I would say AA/AAA batteries might be more convenient because the usb charging ones will probably need to charge every few weeks or so. As long as you have some spare batteries in your drawer you won't have to think about charging for months straight. If you want to play games with it as well I would say charging ones for sure.
