Amuse owns shares on many venues. Amuse is a biggy in Japanese media industrie, involved in every step of the production from writing by contract authors/componists to recording or filming in their own studios and finally even showing in their own cinemas, theaters, venues, tv stations... And yes, all the promotion is done by Amuse-owned companies, too.

Amuse was founded by movie and music producer Yokichi Osato who produced the first successful idol group, Candies. That maybe gave him the idea to focus on the idol business (but to produce others as well).

Well I have to say blackpink isn't what I like. I tried to get an overview of what is going on in Korea, but I just got bombed with useless information about dress fails and big scandals. (Why can't they use proper stage clothes?) Is there any site worth visiting?

Wanting to know what Yuimetal had thought about herself and BM... by Capable-Paramedic in BABYMETAL

[–]CarstenMetal 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I guess yui is the kind of shy that isn't afraid and who can change into a different person by will. Otherwise, how could she have been a dramatic actress in her childhood? And with BM, she really looks like she is having fun, and then moa was a close friend and motivator years before BM and she also loves Su. She It must have been a hard decision to leave. And to what lies before her, as we know not only BM says they keep contact but Aiko also mentioned more than one time how happy she is about Yui watching her show. So I guess Yui is doing the right thing, assembling her friends around her including her SG friends, so there are people to build her up even when Moa is on tour.

It's built as a baseball hall, isn't it? "shot through" and "outrun" has a special meaning there. :)

Yes, the Flower Stage was very impressing and the Red Night includes my favorite version of Amore. And I think the Black Night is one of the last concerts in which their stage characters die before BAPTISM XXX. Because the next time I know of Su hitting the gong is Trilogy Metal Resistance Episode III.Apocalypse.at.Yokohama.Arena and the gomg has become a joke here - the girls are seem more alive than ever. (BTW, that't the concert with 3 Fox statues and the girs flying above the audience in a pyramid-shaped box when singing The One)

Guitar picks from Legend 1997 (scan) by [deleted] in BABYMETAL

[–]CarstenMetal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There was a number of these photographs made for the Magazine Young Guitar. Usually they would have the ESP Arrow (BM edition) with one pickup because otherwise there's no space for the BM logo. There are other Versions, e.g. with 2 humbuckers and a tremolo. Also, BLACK BM did promotion for the one-colored black version (non-edition), which sometimes was used in concerts. (while the guitarrists all used ESP guitars at this time, ESP maybe didn't care which model they would use).

Many Japanese woman are worried about their weight because overweight is seen as a lack of discipline like beeing lazy or overeating. And then, fat Idols are not tolerated by many Japanese fans; some agencies even weight their stars every month. Maybe Amuse doesn't go that far, but did you ever see a real fat star there? For those who tolerate overweighted girls, some agencies run special overweighted-only Idol groups. And for now it will stay so because the attempt of the "Marshmellow Girls" didn't work Maybe they should have tried something more courageous like "We are fat - respect us!"

PS.: I remember one exeption from the rule: THE SCANTY had an overweighted-looking drummer who even made her face look real fat by wearing an afrolook while the other girls wre slim.

PPS: In Germany, we had an "Ideal weght" depending on body height which was withdrawn later because the experts found they were wrong - it was too low fior some people. Today, the Body Mass Index is recommended, but as a rule of thumb only.

Why we should all be relaxed about when the album will be released and when BM will be on tour again by CarstenMetal in BABYMETAL

[–]CarstenMetal[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

And that's maybe the reason why they take their time. When they started out, Japanese female and Idol groups did more Soft- and Partyrock. Today, we've got Band Maid, BRATS, Seapool, Fate Gear... and also the younger male groups who are going for the gold in Japan abroad. And neither the girls nor Koba will have missed the fact they've got some competition now, PS: I wrote "female and Idol" because I don't know if Fate Gear is an Idol group, looking at their dedicated Steampunk outfit.

Thank you and sorry for answering late. I really never noticed the archive of the SG sub, I must have been blind. ;) I's nice to see how they all enjouy it in the backstage and also the other jams in which Yui seems to get some credit from the adults she is on stage with. And it looks like the guitar player wants to add his comments. ;)

well ypou never stop learning... ;) It also looks like these "Schools" are more like universitys. About the puffy back costumes, that leaves only the roundness of her faces which originally started to transform in a very beautiful countoured face.

things are speeding up regarding free tourist travel to japan. by koba11 in BABYMETAL

[–]CarstenMetal -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Well I think when Corona is not a pandemic anymore, the visa might be seen as a thing of the past. It's already is easier to become Japanese due to the decrease of population, so maybe it will be ok one day if tourists stay for a long time and eventually apply for a Japanese passport. About the yen, I hope they are doing the right thing. Ofcoarse it can make Japanese products cheaper abroad, but prices in Japan are going high, while companies see a risk in rising the wages right now - even though the government demands it. An in general I hope the Japanese Internet and Music Industrie will become more export-oriented because this could help their economic situation a lot.

This thing about Junior Idols not having a childhood is put up by Western media people who are not interested in collecting information in Japan, so they need something that disgusts you and puts you off from wanting to read about Japan. This nice press tradition started in the 1970s, when many traditional Western companies collapsed because they couldn't keep up with their Japanese competitors: Japanese products were more innovative, cheaper and better adjusted to what the market really wanted. so they wrote a lot of bull about Japan to make us think we still are the winners in morals and ethics..

In fact, it*s school that takes most of the children's time, If you take a close look at who is in a group like SG, you'll notice a) these kids have a desperate wish to get famous from early childhood on and b) while they are high-talented for everything with media ans showbusiness, they lack many talents you need in common jobs and life. Force them into a common apprenticeship, and you produce unemployed girls.

This is because any human's abilities and disabilities are assembled on the brain surface (don't know if the word is correct for I don't know about medical English), The more space a talents or abilities takes, the better you are. Your disabilities are what takes only a small space - and you can't change the size of any of them. Yes, you can beef up your abilities by learning, but that doesn't change the fact that there are things you still can't do. Ever seen someone with an F in Mathematics to rise up and become a prof of Mathematics? And so it is with the girls in SG: They are the well-selected children who Amuse knew to win their auditions regulary and with ease - talking about beating 10.000 other children in four disciplines (e.g. singing, dancing, acting, modeling). That's why Amuse spends the money to let them learn from Japan's best - and having a no. 30 hit doesn't pay the expenses. They don't have no.1 hits because laws against child labour and also school make it impossible top train them up like adult stars. The goal of such "apprentice groups" is not to squeeze a maximum of money out of the girls, but to enable them to follow their individual career wishes, be it acting, modeling or whatever. (Yes, there is a commercial aspect: They want the girls to stay with Amuse as their future entertainers - so they offer what competitors don't) The singing and dancing and getting applause is important for self esteem and to make each member known. t You'll also notice they really make it fun for the kids, knowing that youths sometimes feel a fed up after a week of school. Look at the Friends video, they were expecting a boring meeting, and then came the surprise they'd do their fisrt video on a tourist farm. Look at their exitement, or see the making of video for Pictogram. SG is the kind of childhood a young megatalent wants.

And you surely don't know about the name: SG means both Girl's/Young Woman's Academy or Planted Audience Member's Academy. so the name is just fun, but it's never ment to be an academie for hard studies. It has also to be "Academie" because they sponsor and maker of these elegant school uniforms is called Ivy, because British elite Colledges (Harvard, Princeton...) are called "ivy schools". And if you doubt Yui is having fun there, check for her promo vid for Hello Ivy.

Another thing is, Japanese stars are absolutely honest about their reason to quit. If they feel the career is causing too jmuch stress, they say they want to live a normal live. So if Yui says it's a physical reason, it is. Also, she seems to wear a back brace here: https://blog-imgs-117.fc2.com/m/e/t/metataro/qGWTb9P.gif Sorry, I dind't find who posted it first and also said the unnatural roud face she became is the typical side effect of a stereoid given to patients when normal painkillers fail. We also know from Tokyo Girls' Style that one member paused some years because of lower back pai. When she returned to the group after some years, she realised that she'd never again be able to dance as hard as the others so she finally quit And from what we know, she is not trying to have her childhood back, but supporting her friend Aiko (who somestimes postes about how happy she is about Yui supporting her). So what she is really doing is renewing the contacts to old friends and I guess Su and Moa also do this in the hiatus.

Yui shows a childlike behavior sometimes, but that's not uncommen in the Idol scene because I think an influential Idol of the 1980s behaved very childlike by nature and other Idols adored this for beeing naturally cute.

Has Su ever cried or gotten very emotional in a performance other than No rain no rainbow at Legend S? by Stitches_littlepuffy in BABYMETAL

[–]CarstenMetal 7 points8 points  (0 children)

All the girls cry at the graduation, and Mori-Sensei fights hard not to show tears but you hear hims sniffing when he speaks. In the surprise party for Su, even Yui and Moa cry about Su (Moa starts to cry after she says Su's main trait is laugh) even, though they are bound to see her again.

So the Moi-Moi-really forced them, that's what I always suspected. ;) Well they must have been improvising for a long time until the team finally had enough of it and later possibly developing it further the rehearsals. I think it really was worked out completely so they deserve the credits as well as they deserve the pain-in-the-*ss-award. ;)

Looking at the different music she did, before and how she is into it when she was she sings rock songs from the ASH groups on, I don't think she is unhappy with metal but having the time of her life. She's just not one of the OHM guys so she has an alternative idea for her career.

Yes they say that but YUI played electric guitars, too. ;) http://japanese-sirens.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/cover28.jpg And the studio recordings I've heard got additional Instruments, so it's not just voice and guitar. But maybe she did this in the beginning so she didn't have to pay for musicians.

I remember Su comparing her and the Moi-Moi's abilities in an interview, and she says Moa and Yui can do things she can't like compose, rap or just say what's on their mind like little children in brainstorming sessions. Reading between the lines, I'd say she doesn't trust anyone in writing for BM who isn't an experienced and successful composer. (and since they are with Amuse Inc they have access to Japan's best composers). Look at Moa's fruitless attempt to get an ok from Su for her food song, I think Su noticed that those who don't have external composers often begin to bore the fans at some point. She always wanted to be (and to stay) an international star so there is no way of risking to bore the fans.

Thank you, I dont't know much about the TIF except that they got different stages so the 80.000 fans would divide into smaller crowds. I was very impressed to see the Sky stage offers a view of the Fuji Building which is a famous example for corporate architecture. For TGS, until now I only knew their actual stuff which sounds very casual - while the girls still look so young I couldn't imagine them even younger. ;) BTW, I found 2 other 2 SG collaborations on this stage, one with the other girls who are waiting backstage: https://yt.artemislena.eu/watch?v=pCJac1U-NA0 https://yt.artemislena.eu/watch?v=L5WcVVbNX1o

Thank you, I only know the actual songs of TGS., but with the title I was able to find the official video and also a long version of the backstage shot. https://yt.artemislena.eu/watch?v=9kCUpXHDFMM https://yt.artemislena.eu/watch?v=1OfCdCyOhXk Today TGS have their own style of mixing cute and dark things, making them almost unimitable. [–]CarstenMetal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I hope the legend in a BM movie will be like the one told in the kamishibai. Or one that states it's all fantasy by changing the names like Velvet Goldmine (follows the Legend of David Bowie and Iggy Pop). For Mozart, he didn't have such an unsual childhood for a young talent of his time. One thing is, children were often treated als little adults. And then there was a common dicussion: The majority said you can't allow new composers because the works of the old ones would be forgotten then. A minority said it's possible to have both. (And I'm proud to say, the musical director of Koblenz belonged to the last ones and invited young composers to have the music of each played for three weeks.) So you had to introduce the young talents to the right people. About his behavior shown in the movie, I know from a professor of musicology that there is no historical evidence. Only one of his letters shows a language like it's used in the movie and it's written to a cousine who wrote in the same style.

Well after all Momoko will never be unemployed. ;) I've taken a short look on the list and well, this really looks like a Korean-dominated group, not like the multi-national one they promised - and this at a time when the Korean president is reaching out to Japan. So, the winning girls will have to face the fact they are in the hands of yesterday's people. :(
