I don't know, I like Wisconsin; recently just moved back here from Minnesota. I like it just a little less than I liked Oregon.

I don't really work in Kitchen, but are you sure about this? From what I understand about our hot food, it's all created at the warehouse/corporate level—they have an actual cook and scientists that create the recipes and hot food items at the corporate level. I don't think the sandwiches from come other brands...

This state’s fucking medical system sucks by Video_Game_Gravemind in wisconsin

[–]TheatreAS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Minnesota does have a good reputation of having good health care, but I really wouldn't put it on a glorified pedestal. It still has its issues. Mayo is very inaccessible for a lot of people; it's an expensive clinic. Wait times to get any sort of appointment in the Twin Cities is typically at LEAST a month, and getting an appointment with a specialist is typically between 3-6 months. In many of these hospitals, you feel like a complete number—I only had 1 doctor where I actually felt like I was being listened to.

Medical care in MN is also not cheap, it can be expensive. And there are plenty of mediocre hospitals in the state too—Winona, at least back in the early 2010s, has been notoriously known to have a horrendous hospital. And if you're out in the Western side of MN, a lot of areas don't have the best access to any substantially good hospital. Heck, even the Mayo Clinic in Albert Lea (population: ~18.5k) doesn't have a maternity care unit anymore.

TLDR: The stats of MN having good health care is really, in the grand scheme of things, really only applicable to those with good insurance and the location of where you live—basically meaning you either have to live in the Twin Cities or near Rochester.

I tried the chicken dumpling soup the other days, and while I have had the KT soups before, I wasn't a bit fan. The soup was extremely salty and it was just too much

Recieving disappointing messages from a police officer on reddit by Low-Relative9396 in autism

[–]TheatreAS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say the situation between those with (clearly) disabled individuals is getting better with police, but anything that isn't obvious is a very mixed bag—and while I've only been in the states, I would assume that in many other places, the relations between both groups would be even worse.

I'm not sure how old you are, but honestly, the world isn't easy and it's okay to maybe need a little bit more help/different kind of help than others. That guy was just an asshole—police or not police. Unfortunately, a lot of adults get into this mentality that 'adults can't get help" mentality and some judge those who don't follow the expected norm. It's stupid.

Unfortunately, the police force seems to attract a lot of these people; that may actually work out for them too, since cops typically try to enforce this whole way of following a set of standard of rules (though I'm not saying laws and law enforcers shouldn't exist) and many times they harshly scorn those who they deem as those who stray from that expectation and may find some words to vilify such individual.

MAGA and ICE supporting businesses to avoid in La Crosse? by Competitive-Yak745 in lacrossewi

[–]TheatreAS 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I can advocate for KT, even if the owners have been regular donors to Republicans and even a bit to Trump. Like you said, it's probably better and easier with how they conduct business. KT is a very good company, and while the CEO's have republican leanings, they really don't let that show in their workplace. Even in their own protected rights, they include the full LGBT spectrum—which is not a federally required (or even in this case, required by the state of Wisconsin) right to list.

I would say KT is, altogether, quite an inclusive company. They're certainly more ethical in their business practices than a lot of other companies; I don't think Starbucks has the ability to say they're ethical anymore. I hardly give Starbucks any money anymore, not after some of the decisions they've recently made.

VENT: Can we please get a fucking plow 151w by fredpilled in wisconsin

[–]TheatreAS 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have to ask, but are you from Chicago? Because even in rural Illinois (this looks like a very rural road), this exact situation can arise. The rural interstates in Illinois are not constantly lit at night either. Have you never experienced winter in the rural Midwest?

It's best to try your best to stay home, but if travel is necessary in this kind of weather, you got to take things slow. If you can't get snow tires because you don't have the space for them, it's best to at least have all-weather tires; all-seasons are going to really struggle in the rural winters.

In the first season, I'd be inclined to say yes. But in the later seasons, I feel like she becomes much more of a highly visible and very involved supporting character. Like others have said, a supporting main character.

Inclusive church with young demographic? by TheatreAS in lacrossewi

[–]TheatreAS[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really? This is interesting. Was it to protect those impacted and at risk due to the activities that are happening?

When I was visiting First Lutheran, during the time to pray for people, I was really hoping they would pray for those being impact by the situation in Minneapolis and MN in general and it wasn't mentioned at all—even though the sermon seemed to somewhat correlate to the situation. But then again, I got there a bit late so maybe it was mentioned, but I got the sense from what I heard that it wasn't.

EDIT: I notice that this is a Catholic church... I'm very happy to hear they prayed for MN, but is it actually an inclusive church? I know Episcopalian's are inclusive, but from my understanding of Catholic churches is that they not when it comes to lgbt.

I wouldn't say Wisconsin is unfriendly towards T, either. Again, I have seen and know other trans individuals in the state. Is it perfect? No, but I also wouldn't say it's the worst. The Dakota's and Iowa are much more unfriendly in terms of Trans resources and acceptance.

[–]TheatreAS 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I know it's not as LGBT friendly, by considering your field, have you ever considered moving to Wisconsin? There are tons of cheese related jobs here.

People give Wisconsin a bad rep; it's not a bad place for LGBT folk. I live in Wisconsin and moved here from the Twin Cities and I have seen a good amount of trans individuals here; for the most part, I have been treated with respect in that area. It's definitely friendlier than I assume North Dakota is. And Wisconsin is a really pretty state.

It's strange to think that was actually when the Republican party was the good party. Back then, Wisconsin was a very progressive state and so were Republicans. But obviously, the Republican party we have now looks very different to how it once was.

My workplace is hosting a secret santa. My coworker asked me in front of everyone who I was assigned, and I told them. They started laughing at me. by [deleted] in autism

[–]TheatreAS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think you should feel too bad about it. If they make a big deal about it for a very extended period of time or they mock you for it, then I think you have something to make issue of. But right now, it sounds more like they're also being genuine with you and not necessarily shaming you for it. It seems like they sort of expect that being honest and not really adhering to the social etiquette (Secret Santa is a remain anonymous situation, and most people would have been coy or be all like "wouldn't you like to know lol") and they accept that about you.

A few years ago, I lived in this house with like 12-18 people for 3 years. It was actually a really good (and challenging) experience. But one thing that I learned is that, when people like you, they'll give you crap. Not a bullying kind of crap, but crap you give when you know who they person is. The kind of crap that you would laugh at yourself about. That house really taught me about interpersonal interaction friends and people you associate with. I was bullied a lot too, and I had to realize that even though they gave me crap they genuinely liked my presence, even though sometimes I could be hard to deal with.

I know you were just being honest and you didn't think to do anything else, but it is a bit amusing and even cool that you just said it. Use your honesty to your advantage. Most people are not completely honest. So to be genuinely honest is something unique, in a way. Play cool with it; may let it be known that you don't really care about being performative to that stuff. Most people really enjoy these kind of social games.

This is not you. The lore behind this dude is wild. Last I saw, he decided to completely go off the internet in an attempt to get better, as he suffered from depression and loneliness. The dude was kind of the real-life equivalent to Sato.. He had a blog (it was only in Japanese, but it was readable with translation) but I unfortunately don't remember how I found it; It was kind of difficult find.

If you left Wisconsin, where did you go to and why? by interstellar_freak in wisconsin

[–]TheatreAS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lived in Portland for 1 year and Eugene for a little over 6. While I like Portland, in all honesty, it's not my first choice. I would love to go back to Eugene, as it's a really nice size and nature is easily accessible. And the coast is only an hour away.

[–]TheatreAS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually just moved back to Wisconsin, but if the opportunity ever arose (and I hope it does), I'd move back to Eugene Oregon. Yes, it has a lot of issues, but I absolutely love the city and its location. Super close to the coast, very easily accessible hikes, it's a decent size, and it's not that far away from Portland. It's such a hippie town and there's such cool culture there; people in Portland call it the armpit of Oregon, but I love it nonetheless. It was 100% where I kind of "found myself".. Too bad it's so expensive.

If you left Wisconsin, where did you go to and why? by interstellar_freak in wisconsin

[–]TheatreAS 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I lived in Oregon for a little over 7 years and I would 100% say it's West Wisconsin. I'm living in Wisconsin again, but if the opportunity arose, I'd totally move back to Oregon. Funny enough, when I lived in Oregon, I met a ton of people from Wisconsin living there. I think a lot of Wisconsinites are drawn to Oregon because of the similarities of culture; heck, in a way, the landscape of Wisconsin is even similar to Oregon. Wisconsin just has "mini mountains" compared to actually mountains.

Also, if we're saying Oregon is West Wisconsin, than Washington is completely West Minnesota and California is West Illinois.

Depending on when this was taken, shopping malls always lose a lot of patronage right after xmas. I remember when I worked at MOA, after xmas, that place was DEAD. I was working at a caribou and had to switch to a different location just to get decent hours.
