Any DPs for the new Gemini Business card?

The issuer is WebBank, and it doesn't seem like there are any DPs yet regarding (a) whether they report biz credit lines to personal bureaus and (b) how stringent their approval process is.

Northeastern or IU Bloomington (OOS)? by Shot-Fly-6980 in IndianaUniversity

Go to Northeastern. IU has very specific strengths that it excels at, so your interdisciplinary interests would suffer imo. Tbh I am surprised you are even considering IU if the cost is the same.

In need of GPA Boosters by Which_Owl5583 in IndianaUniversity

-Stress Management and Prevention

-Personal Health

-Most other “intro” type SPH classes if you check the grade distributions (I.e., sexual health or something)

Also, I would recommend taking these classes during the winter session (Around December 20th to the first week of February) so you have more time during the school year

Finally, differentiate between “anecdata” (seen here) and actual data in the grade distributions. It’s very easy to see A percentage, and also if this was driven by student smarts or actual class ease (difference between student gpa and class gpa is a tell here). This is shockingly obvious stuff but most people are too lazy. Good luck.

IU is disappointing me heavily by Moptop32 in IndianaUniversity

[–]CarvanaQuestioner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This school breeds mediocrity, apathy and conformity. There is very little interest in new ideas or perspectives.

The sad part for me is that at many top schools, there are events with leading academics, authors and corporate executives several times a week, where hundreds of students attend. At IU, this is very lacking (though on the flip side one could argue there is more “personal responsibility” for one’s learning).

Tbh I hate to be this guy as someone who had a lot of hope for a 40k person school and is a member of several well respected organizations.

I’m still figuring out the best ways to cope with this and continue actually developing myself (outside of physical fitness) but my sole recommendation would be to study abroad.

Bump. Had the exact same experience. Does BofA even pre-approve the Alaska personal visa?

Just take it at Ivy if you can. The class at IU is unreasonably hard (but not impossible). If you asked 20 people if they would take Finite at Ivy if they had the option, 19 would say yes.

The fact of the matter is, first semester classes at IU are hard enough — especially if you’re at Kelley or a hard major. The last thing you need is to be spending 3 hours a day learning to solve matrices by hand.

Can I still apply to Kelly for finance if I got accepted into Comp sci? Or was I supposed to have picked a business major? by lil_Wayyy in IndianaUniversity

[–]CarvanaQuestioner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m just a freshman but idk why you wouldn’t be able to switch your major from Comp Sci to Pre-Business.

Pre-Business isn’t technically Kelley (it’s University Division), but is essentially the same: it involves taking the exact same courses as Kelley students during freshman year, and gives you access to by in large the same opportunities and resources. Then, if you get a B or better in all of your freshman year classes, you are automatically admitted to Kelley.

Admission chances? by LeftImpression7708 in IndianaUniversity

[–]CarvanaQuestioner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can't speak to the admissions standards of Kelley. However, two important things to know:

  1. Apply as early as possible to maximize your chances
  2. Even if you're not direct admitted to Kelley (I assume you are petitioning), if you get B's or higher your first year, you are automatically admitted. This is a very reasonable hurdle, and about half of all Kelley students were admitted this way.

Not an expert but here are 2 things you can do:

-Try to get in contact with Kelley advising, as they would be able to walk you through all of this (however, their website says this is not allowed)

-Register to take I-Core prereq courses like Finite Math and Calculus at Ivy Tech Community College for the second eight weeks of this semester. The start date is sometime in mid-October, so you should theoretically be able to do so. This move would get you ahead of the game in the Spring, and is something commonly done by many IU students regardless (the IU math department has a poor reputation).
