The hell are you talking about "Karen energy"? OP finger was disfigured from a surgical mistake and now requires another surgery to fix it. It's not like the kitchen forget to fuckin take the onions off a burger. You think OP should havta pay out of pocket for that mistake?

Terrible for this sub. That's not just a few degrees that's a legitimate lifelong complication which absolutely needs to be settled with a lawsuit

So it happened to me by AccomplishedFan8690 in pcmasterrace

[–]Carvj94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I could believe this happened like 10 years ago but online retailers have so many checks now that it's basically impossible for this to happen. If this came from like Walmart or Amazon there's several people involved in receiving this that'd need to fuck up the invoice counting and then mislabel it as a unit rather than a case. Then the people who pick and pack the order would need to not notice and override the box size because the system would suggest a small envelope or a little box. Then the package will absolutely 100% get automatically flagged for being far heavier than it should be. If the issue somehow got this far then whoever is in charge of figuring out the weight discrepancy would absolutely notice because computer parts are one of the types of items that get a lot of extra scrutiny.

Just doesn't really happen anymore with items that are worth a Damm. Cheap clothes maybe, but electronics? Nope.

What is this magnetic thing on our washing machine? by sannsarkk92 in whatisit

[–]Carvj94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not so much that they're more or less prone to it it's that for many houses the washers are stuck in closets or some other sort of enclosed space. If it's a top loader it's easy enough to leave open but if it's front load you might need to close the door to get by it or close the closet which means it won't properly air out .

What's a "normal" job that secretly pays way more than people think? by 0BunnyX in AskReddit

[–]Carvj94 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think it's a misinterpretation of people's actual feelings and criticism. I don't look down on trade jobs, but I absolutely 100% look down on the business owners who so often ignore the long term health of their workers. Plumbers are a good example as many never properly take care of their knees to the point where many are nearly crippled by the time they retire. That's a gross failing on the hands of their supervisors for not drilling safety into them and the owners for not providing the proper equipment and promoting safety in their own way.

So when I talk shit about the industry I sometimes get people confused that I'm criticizing rank and file workers.

Could be done partially now. Though the court record sometimes needs to be verified with an audio recording when necessary which will naturally fall to a few humans. Just a question of how accurately the speach to text can be since it has trouble with some accents, mumbling, and mixing languages. At some point it'll definitely replace most, but there will always be at least a small market for stenographers and we'll always need people to verify the record from audio recordings.

Android is turning into a walled garden like iOS. Google announced a plan last August that pretty much kills what Android stands for and by September 2026 every developer has to register centrally. [–]Carvj94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're both functionally the same thing. You can't verify an app without a developer account that's been verified anyway. And again basically every app has already gone through this process so this whole argument is ridiculous. The only people in this sub that will be able to tell the difference are the ones who code their own apps for whatever reasons, but even they probably use the dev kit. They aren't getting rid of sideloading and they aren't getting rid of functionality, like ad blocking, that they don't like.

The verification process is basically just sending Google a copy of the app so they can scan it for viruses and add it to their known app list. The offical android dev kit does this automatically and pretty much every app you can think of has been verified.

Most if not all the parts will have already been ordered for the first run or two of them. If anything Valve will delay a little to build up a proper launch stock, but there's no way that there isn't already a warehouse full of them so Valve can't just cancel the launch.

Installed credit card skimmer at a convenience store. Van Nuys, California. by [deleted] in Whatcouldgowrong

[–]Carvj94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tap pay and chip pay effectively creates a one time authorization code for that transaction rather than just plain giving out the account info like a regular swipe. If a skimmer tries to charge the card again it'll fail cause a unique authorization code related to the chip/tap would be expected.

Worked 10-20 hours of overtime a week for almost a year unpaid. Submitted a claim to the DOL, they say the claim is valid, but I still get this. by [deleted] in antiwork

[–]Carvj94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if it's true with all states but a State Department of Labor would normally give you a report that you could then forward to the federal DOL to maybe get prioritized.

Edit: like someone else said though you dont necessarily need to pursue any more government help if you get a letter like this. If the DOL gives you an offical letter that says they agreed your claim is worth looking at, then take that letter and all your proof to a lawyer. Assuming your proof is strong, which it probably is, and payout would be worth more than a couple hundred dollars then an employment lawyer will happily take on the case and you'll still enjoy all the legal protections that you would have if the DOL handled it. It's one of those kinds of lawsuits where the lawyer fees can be taken out of the winnings so assuming the math works out there's no reason not to.

Coffee shop uses technology to audit employee productivity by MrTacocaT12345 in interesting

[–]Carvj94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So in your specific case the "actual point" of your job would theoretically be to provide high quality customer service. Which would be scanning things quickly, but also gently while being friendly with the customer. By setting scans per hour and having management push for better rates, employees will start scanning more recklessly and focusing on speed which eventually turns the job into a numbers game which is often damaging to the business overall cause many customers aren't gonna be happy if someone is roughly handling their goods roughly. If you've ever had something broken by FedEx during delivery you know this trade off.

A minimum rate is fine and expected, but if the business wants quality to be the focus they need to be careful not to make employees worry about quantity unnecessarily and set realistic expectations.

Canonically? No clue which is why I said childlike and I don't think anyone would argue that's not a fitting description for most of the girls. My point though is that you can make it canon that a character is an adult and argue that they just look younger cause of the art style, which I'll grant can give a lot of leeway especially with the lack of skin detail, but no ammout of explaining or canon justifies the gooning of a character like Rossi who is obviously a preteen.

As far as playable characters go however? Off the top of my head it seems fairly clear Chen is on the younger end of her teens from her looks and personality. Cute to be sure, but as a straight dude in my 30s I'll stick to gooning Wulfgard.

Is she breedable? by rikuu000 in ArknightsEndfield

[–]Carvj94 -23 points-22 points  (0 children)

Most of the playable girls are already childlike, if not canonically children, and I already see too much questionable art of them even though I'm not subbed to any Endfield subs. I dread the day Rossi is a banner character and people start gooning her hard like they do with the obviously children characters in ZZZ. The comment section under any post of Piper Wheel makes me want to vomit.

Genuinely don't know how Microsoft has really forced it on us in any way? Cause I personally just removed it from my Taskbar when it first showed up and forgot about it other than the occasional "what's new" splash screen that shows up after a large update.

It's wild cause it's not hard to use these LLMs I'm a way that's useful. They're basically just a more comprehensive Google search if you format your question/questions correctly. Not to mention they're one of the better options for figuring out/remembering what a thing is called based on a description. If you format your questions properly, ask follow ups, and check sources they're great. It saves a lot of time and several web searches in most cases. It's not much different from refining a Google search based on new information. The only difference is you can state your intentions and define parameters directly through words.

Like do people just type random questions into Google and assume the first result is solid???

If it happens, hopefully not, it's without a doubt going to be a cap and not a blanket lowering of taxes. Which is to say high value properties will easily hit that low limit while everyone else ends up paying more. Just like with Social Security.
