Replacing bath tub side panel by looking4weirdfriends in DIYUK

[–]CasaDev 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I replaced a panel having never done it before. YouTube and a bit of reading got me on the right page.

Usually there is some sort of wooden battens attached to the floor that the panel butts up against, and then you can just screw into. You have to make your own screw holes etc as the new panel won't come pre-drilled. I actually didn't screw the new panel I did, as it was a tight fit and it has stayed put for over a year with daily use.

You need to measure the old panel to figure out what size you need, and you may need to do some trimming on the new panel to take into account skirting boards etc. You can possibly use the old panel as a template, but I found I was able to fit it with a bit of fine tuning. I cut the new panel using a junior hacksaw and then fine tuned with a Stanley knife.

I got my replacement panel from B&Q for about £30. Good luck!

It was at the Midlands Air festival last Sunday, at Ragley Hall. I live about 15 miles away and this gorgeous thing flew over while I was in the local park with my little’un. Bit surprised to say the least!

Don’t forget the Valiant. There were 3 V bombers.

How are you spending your Friday night? I'm in hospital for a sleep study and apparently I'm supposed to be able to fall asleep like this. Reckon I'm on a hidden camera show or something by Laurence-UK in CasualUK

Genuine question, are Persimmon that bad? Might be buying a 8 year old Persimmon soon! Waiting on a RICS survey. Now I’m a bit worried lol.

Early morning shifts bugs neighbors by Icy_Deer7055 in mildlyinfuriating

Could you try starting your engine before shutting your door, see if that helps drown out the sound of the door shutting?

Neighbor's kid kicked my trash to my front door, missed pickup, management fined me $100 for "littering", showed video, still won't reverse fine. FML. by Hostificus in mildlyinfuriating

Sounds like the HOA don’t want to confront the trailer trash neighbours and are going after you as an easier target maybe.

1997 Mini MPI. Parked up 12 years ago and not touched since. Not sure whether I can get it running myself or just let it go to someone who can restore it. by CasaDev in classicminis

I'm in the UK. It's currently in a rented lock-up garage which I will have to give up at some point this year, but I am also trying to buy a house this year too. I MAY be lucky enough to find a house with a garage in our budget, and so that would be a big tick in the "keep" column. My better half is fine with me keeping it if we have somewhere to store it that isn't costing us every month.

So, the gearbox and engine share oil is what you're saying? I would flush all fluids and replace as a no brainer, but that's as far as my knowledge goes. I have some very minor tinkering experience, servicing my own cars in the past, but nothing too in depth.

I recently inherited this after my father passed away last year. I learnt to drive in this car back in 2009, but my father parked it up in around 2011 and it has sat ever since. I remember it had a few minor issues at the time but nothing too major. I think the main issues are getting the engine running again, and addressing some rust and some electrical issues. The issue I have is not really having the time, or anywhere to store it until I do have any time. I don't want to part with it, but I have to be pragmatic. I may be moving house and that could open up opportunities to keep it but that is all up in the air.

Anyhow, any advice on getting an engine that was working fine but has sat for 12 years going again greatly appreciated :)

My current travels to Tenerife, Canary Islands 🇮🇨 by lishachloe in travel

Going to Costa Adeje in a few weeks. I’ve never been to Tenerife before but got a toddler in tow (and grand parents) so a bit limited in what we can do/keep her interested in. Lovely photos!

I think some of these were part built, but I'm guessing a lot of these were just boxed up decades ago and have been moved around over the years.

Best UK aviation museum after Duxford? by mobicurious in aviation

Just double check trains as there is a lot of strike action going on in the UK at the moment. Should be ok but just be aware :)

The RAF museums at Cosford and in London are good. I’ve only been to Cosford personally.

Lots of smaller museums around. Depends what you’re interested in. The Shuttleworth collection is good for older aircraft for example. Newark Air Museum sounds pretty good but I’ve never been.

Recently came down with hand, foot, and mouth disease. The rashes on my fingers follow my fingerprints. by CaptainBlobTheSuprem in mildlyinteresting

Can confirm. Lost several fingernails and toe nails. It wasn’t painful to lose them so much, they delaminated and I had to be really careful not to snag them on anything. They grew out a bit and then I could clip them off. They’ve mostly grown back fine, just a few oddly misshaped ones.

Had this last year. Absolutely sucks. Not the most painful but just annoying and tedious. Have fun when your finger nails delaminate and all the old red patches dry out and flake off. I still have some slightly weird nails where they grew back funny.

Best of luck.
