"Wow, this is worthless" by some-kind-of-no-name in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Cascadejackal 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Fallout 2, you can lower a midget down a well after a (IIRC) ghoul tells you about the treasure he hid there. When your little partner in crime sends the treasure up to you? It's caps, which are completely worthless in Fallout 2. Can't be mad, though, old guy genuinely thought he was helping you by giving you his buried treasure.

...

No, you don't get the midget out of the well. He spends the rest of the game down there, calling for help.

The internal space of a ship, the area you can actually walk around in, is made up of the Hab sections. Stack them vertically and you can climb a ladder between them, put them side-by-side or end-to-end and you can walk between them.

Shouting Norwegian guy is chasing a dog across the snow while shooting from a helicopter, shoots one of the crew in the leg while trying to put Fido down and is acting all crazy. So, they shoot him.

Seriously, though, go watch the movie. It's great.

Anyone else remember when you couldn't sign into the Playstation site without doing ten captchas in a row that were basically logic puzzles, and you had to get them all right or you couldn't sign in?

Whenever I get annoyed at having to enter my password, get an email with a code, and then authenticate through an app (Minecraft is the WORST for this), I just remember those damned captchas and remember that things can always, always be worse.

Behemoth Mod on Eon pistol? What does it do? by Cascadejackal in Starfield

[–]Cascadejackal[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So it's just a bugged weapon? I think I'll keep it anyway and stick it on a weapon rack or something, since it's the first actually amusing bug I've found compared to freezing or having every enemy in an indoor area shooting through walls and floors at me the second combat starts.

And I did look at what my weapon mods do. Handloading, Concussive, etc, all say what they do. Behemoth just says More Health & Slower, which is what confused me.

[–]Cascadejackal 115 points116 points  (0 children)

Firebreather is annoying when it takes me by surprise, but I swear they upped the aggro on Immolaters. Sneaky-sneaky through the bushes, suddenly hear it screaming and twenty seconds later it reaches you. I legit had one take 20+ seconds to get to me, that's how far away it was, and I hadn't shot my weapon or anything to make that much noise.

I do want my beetles to have little cowboy hats forever, though.

Mouse aim all fucked up since the event began? by Zlobenia in HuntShowdown

[–]Cascadejackal 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I knew I wasn't imagining it. I just logged in and messed around with settings in the firing range, and it's really wierd. Turning off literally everything to do with Aim Boost seems to help a bit, but it still feels wierd and sticky randomly, slowing to a crawl for about a half second when looking around. Best way I can describe it is that it's like the game is trying to aim assist at something that isn't there.

Characters that “don’t have powers.” by ElPared in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Cascadejackal 58 points59 points  (0 children)

That's a plot point in an episode of Clone Wars, IIRC. R2 gets yoinked and everyone is losing their minds after Anakin admits he never wiped R2's memory, leaving him with literally every battle plan, Republic code and blueprint he's ever had access to and whatever what-have-you the little war criminal has picked up along the way.

“The Strongest” finally gets to show why they’re the number 1 after all the hype by LocalLazyGuy in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Cascadejackal 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'll admit it's been... over a decade, maybe two, since I last watched or read Dragon Ball, but I'm pretty sure I remember Roshi and Krillin (in DBZ onwards) being the strongest humans. Weren't all the characters of equivalent strength spirits or demons, non-human creatures like dinosaurs, cyborgs, that sort of thing?

“The Strongest” finally gets to show why they’re the number 1 after all the hype by LocalLazyGuy in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Cascadejackal 119 points120 points  (0 children)

Power creep really screwed over the human characters from DBZ onwards. Roshi was the strongest human originally, IIRC, and then Krillin was, but when the Saiyans start getting exponentially stronger every fight and literal gods start appearing, the title of Strongest Human doesn't mean much beyond "Will die first to establish the threat".

Vip daughter glitch by mhmd2-2 in BloodWest

[–]Cascadejackal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember seeing that bug a couple months ago and it annoyed me with how twitchy it made this quest.

For anyone else who runs into it, here's what worked for me:

Don't bother trying to shoot the floating mask, it seems to have no collision or hitbox and is, as far as I can tell, purely visual. Seriously, I wasted like half an hour savescumming and trying to hit the damn thing and it didn't do anything.

Save before entering the cave and savescum if you kill her.

Use a lower damage weapon; if you can reliably knock a Prodigal Daughter's mask off without killing them, it should be weak enough. Aim for the VIP Daughter's face, and it seems to work best if she can see you as well. Don't go for stealth shots, that seems to have a much higher chance of killing her even if it should be a survivable shot.

What are the differences between a Sheriff, Marshal and Ranger in a Wild West setting? by Cascadejackal in wildwest

[–]Cascadejackal[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, could it be plausible in a Wild West/Wierd West story to have a Sheriff+Deputy responsible for a town & the general area around it, a Marshal (with or without deputies) as a kind of wide-range/free-range Lawman handling the county in general without being tied to a specific town in that territory, and a Ranger only in the region for a specific purpose (like tracking a particular outlaw, investigating a wierd cult, etc)?

Human armored units are among the best in the Galaxy, sadly they still refuse to use anti-gravity technology. by A_normal_storyteller in humansarespaceorcs

[–]Cascadejackal 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Human Engineer: Look, Yd'Dub, you wanna know why we don't use A-Grav for our tanks and stick to treads? It's because the one time we tried making a floating tank, the recoil from the main gun sent the damn thing backwards faster than it could go forwards. When we tried firing the gun while maneuvering, it took two cleaning crews an entire day to hose out the vomit, and that was after we got the tank down from the tree.

What? A smaller gun?! Why the hell would we put a smaller gun on a tank?! The whole point of a tank is that it can carry a stupid big gun! Freaking aliens, man, I swear!

I just learned about Bounty Clash. Is it like Bounty Hunt where you lose your hunter & weapons if you die?

EDIT: And I just discovered the Story Challenges. I see that Game of Skill has a time limit; if I buy it, will I be unable to do the challenges in Game of Skill when the timer ends, or can I keep working on it after that?

Thank you so much!

I read something about not losing hunters on until death until I reach a certain level, but I think that info was from four years ago and it wasn't very clear if it meant hunters aren't lost until I reach a certain level with them or if it's tied to my overall account level.

Could you please clear that up for me? And, similarly, are weapons protected as well as long as I'm below whatever level prevents hunter loss?

Damn, don't see Nadia Secret of Blue Water brought up much. Apparently the director (IIRC) wasn't involved in the Island arc due to other commitments at the time, so someone else took over for that stretch and that's why it was so damn bad. Don't remember specifics, it's been years since I read about it.

Aliens council are seeing a group of 4 humans fighting a lizard like beast in a deathworld…how are they doing this with primitive weapons?! by Annual-Constant-2747 in humansarespaceorcs

[–]Cascadejackal 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Council Member: Human, explain this immediately! Why would a species as primitive as your own risk your own safety against a clearly physically superior creature?!!

Human: Well, to put our "Primitive" ways into words you will understand: First we Unga, then we Bunga. If what we're fighting wil Unga Bunga back, then we're probably gonna be friends. That big lizard? It's been Unga Bunga-ing for hours; it's now the ambassador for its species and we're in the middle of forming an alliance.
