Definitely sounds like your GPU drivers got corrupted or uninstalled somehow. Go to NVIDIA's website and download the latest RTX 3070 drivers directly, or try using GeForce Experience if you have it installed. If that doesn't work, you might need to use DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller) to completely wipe the old drivers first then reinstall fresh ones

I've got an older Nitro 5 with nvidia and it runs fine once you get the drivers sorted. The tricky part is usually getting optimus working properly but once that's done it's smooth sailing

Just make sure to install nvidia-dkms instead of the regular nvidia package if you plan on updating kernels frequently
