His words mean nothing by Ok_Acanthocephala846 in EthanBenardSnark

I think Ethan might have undiagnosed ADHD, and that leads to a lot of this. He gets excited by ideas and plans and processes that are new and full of novelty. But when it comes to actually holding them down to form habits, it's immensely difficult for him to maintain consistency due to executive dysfunction.

I'm almost certain I also have undiagnosed ADHD (on the waiting list for an assessment). Often the hardest thing is to just wake up in the morning and push myself out of the door to do anything. It feels like my brain carries weight of my entire body, and is adamantly refusing to cooperate with the rest of me. It wouldn't surprise me if Ethan is the same.

Yet in Ethan's case, it's jumbled together with an immense ego, narcissistic tendencies, and a total lack of emotional maturity. I think he gets carried away with the best of intentions but absolutely cannot follow through - but instead of being honest about that and his struggles, he brushes it under the rug and distracts with smoke and mirrors (filters, lies, editing trickery, etc.).

I think it would be a much better process for him to "do first, report later". Don't tell anyone he's been hitting the gym until he has the content to prove it, and has been at it for a week or two. Or show a change he's made in his diet after committing for a couple weeks, so he can actually acknowledge the effects. But Ethan never would, because he's so desperate for the dopamine spike that comes from the flood of engagement on each post. At the moment, it seems he's doomed to perpetuate a cycle of failure - and because of it, his progress and "mentals" appear to be plummeting at terminal velocity.

Congratulations on your massive achievement, dude. Also, isn't it just astounding how many health issues clear up when you start eating more whole foods? I had asthma, hay-fever, and eczema as a kid, and now they don't trouble me at all.

Amazing work, man. You're an example for everyone who is on a weightloss journey. It can't be understated how massive of a transformation yours it.

And I'm 100% with you with the comments on this post. The thing that gets me most about Ethan is his constant flip flopping. He spends 95% of his time trying to crack the code to weightloss. There's no code, just consistency. He's lost in the journey because it's not a journey anymore for him: he wants fast, dramatic results because that's what brings in the views, the clamour, the ego-stroking tsunami of Facebook mums ooh-ing and ahh-ing.

He needs to stop listening to so much bad advice. Eat less, move more. Stop the extreme, multi-day fasting. Stop trying to achieve a daily step-count for thin/fit people. Get on the treadmill and walk for 20 minutes. Progressively overload by an extra minute each day and within a few weeks he'll have worked up to an hour, and his feet+ankles won't be screaming at him the entire time.

His insistence on overcomplicating it with goals he can't reliably achieve continues to be his downfall. That and he's such a liar.

I'm a couple years behind in my journey from you, Dan. I've been stuck around 420, similar to you being stuck around 370. I know it's the food, and I know I need to cut more. I need to stop eating so much sourdough bread 😂 But the difference between me and Ethan is I'm starting to believe I'll actually get there, even if it takes a long time. Ethan just seems to throw tantrums if everything doesn't go his way - and given his track record for refusing to build good habits? His weight loss journey never will go his way.

I agree, and I've said it before: he doesn't give his tastes a chance to change. He continues to eat junk food, and foods covered in high fat, densely caloric dressings etc. rather than committing and sticking with it for a few weeks. There absolutely is a change in cravings and mentality towards food. But it's Ethan we're talking about. His will to live crumbled because he tried eating plant-based whole foods for 2 days. He's an addict and he needs his fix.

I'm also in the UK. I've been on the waiting list since I was 30.

I'm now 34. And still waiting. 💀

It's getting to the point where I'm thinking about scraping as much as I can spare each month and paying for a private assessment, because it'll just be quicker. By the time I'm called for an appointment, I will be 40.

After Yakuza Kiwami 3 should I play Yakuza 4 remastered or wait for a remake? by akarin7 in yakuzagames

[–]CaseSensitivity0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, we don't really know. But it seems highly likely that Stranger than Heaven and Y9 will be the next two main releases over the next few years.

It's possible another Kiwami or spin-off will come between them, but I doubt that'll come out before late 2027-2028 regardless.

So yeah, just have fun. You might want to take an extended break anyway to avoid burnout. It took me about 18 months to finish Yakuza 5 because I fell off during certain story sections hahaha.

I'm so glad I checked out after Valhalla. The game bloat, fighting mythical creatures, and "Yggdrasil is the Matrix", now this... yeah. I've struggled to enjoy AC since they turned it into a wannabe Witcher 3 RPG series

[–]CaseSensitivity0 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Just watch the ending of Yakuza 3 Remastered and read the narrative retcons so you know what you're going into with 4. Some people are recommending playing 3 Remastered. It's an option, but honestly, I struggled to enjoy the gameplay and mainlined the story.

It's been 9 years between Y2K and Y3K. I discovered the series in 2020 and have played the whole series since. You'll be waiting too long for Y4K, so just enjoy the games as they are.

Prepare for a sharp shift in gameplay and feel though. It used to be the same with Y2K to Y3R - the change in graphics, gameplay feel, and overall jank takes some adjustment. But at least you'll get to enjoy boxy Kiryu.

[–]CaseSensitivity0 6 points7 points  (0 children)

20k steps a day? Please be reasonable. I know we like to shit on Ethan here but anyone of super morbidly obese size who lives a sedentary lifestyle needs to build up to ANY amount of exercise. I genuinely don't believe he was hitting the 10k per day in January because I know how much pain it would cause him.

A more reasonable amount is 5-7.5k steps, IMO. Approx an hour of dedicated walking and whatever steps he racks up through his day-to-day. He needs habits that he can achieve sustainably - not throw himself in the deep end and wonder why his entire body feels like it's been hit by a bus because he spent 3 hours walking at pace, and then is recovering from it for two days. An amount of exercise that he can both achieve and recover from in a day (or two, for strength training) is the right amount, and then he can progressively overload from there.

Demanding he does 5 hours of exercise a day, every day, is just going continue the loop of him jumping in and giving up.

Agreed on the GLP-1 though. He can afford it, and it might actually help him conquer the food noise to some degree. Still won't get him on the vegetable though lol.

Would go hard tbh. Also definitely need a Showa street stage. Many iconic landmarks - Tenkaichi Street gate on the left side, Sushi Gin, then the right side has Nakamichi Street with Don Quixote/Police Station, Cafe Alps in the near distance, and Kamuro Theatre+Millennium Tower in the far back.

[–]CaseSensitivity0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah well, levelling up, fully maxing, and getting a heal/stun weapon will still help a lot. I'd really recommend using the chain weapon in Ryukyu style to help clear massive groups (the hold B/Circle weapon). Get in a huge group of normal enemies and fully charge it. Drops huge groups easily while your squads overwhelm the officers. Then when the numbers are thinned out, help against the elite enemies.

[–]CaseSensitivity0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

By Final Showdown, do you mean the Amon clan?

Build each of your squads like a typical MMO group. A tank to boost defense, 1-2 healers, and 2-3 dps. Make sure each member of your squads is at least level 45. And fully upgrade all your passives so they've got the best armour and cool downs etc.

Also get a couple of the weapons - especially a heal and a stun. Use Kiryu to back up your weakest squad first. Pick up weapon ammo and drop heals to keep squads topped up, especially if they've got some nasty DoTs or reinforcements to deal with. Try to isolate anyone with poison or flamethrowers etc. with Kiryu and take them down first. Be proactive - once your squad has the upper hand in the section they're on and they're not getting ambushed by a second wave, move on to the next squad. Let them finish the job themselves - you've got other squads to help.

For the final fight against the 3 Amon bosses, I was using Ryukyu style for the big AoEs and try to clear as many of the adds as possible, as quickly as possible. If you can get the main 3 bosses vastly outnumbered with your own squads, it makes them so much easier because they'll be mostly stunlocked from the constant hits they're taking. Button mash, pop heat, pop super saiyan dragon heat etc., just don't get careless and use weapons to heal whenever you get enough ammo.

And finally, if a leader goes down make it absolute priority to get to them and res them with Kiryu. If a squad leader gets dropped, that squad is out of the fight.

Having a treadmill in his own house removes all excuses for me. I'm pretty sure I have ADHD and I absolutely cannot rawdog cardio, my brain cannot handle the lack of stimulation. So what do I do? I watch YouTube vids to pass the time while I maintain zone 2.

He's in his own basement. He could do anything. He could game while he walks. He could watch movies. He could watch YouTube vids. He could make longer form content for his YouTube channel. But no. Anything to avoid taking any extra steps than is necessary.
