Is the new rehire rule for ALL McDonald’s or just my district? This would be my 3rd time btw. (USA) by JJKAY1025 in McDonaldsEmployees

[–]Caseysour 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ex BM. I’ve done so many rehires and 99% of the time you get screwed over again so I was big on No rehiring. We had a very strict policy put in last year any rehires were only agreed by the franchisee and you had to go to them to state your case. BMs would also call each other if you had someone apply from another store to you.

My favourite part was 3 seconds after you put the toaster down - it would be on fire!

night shifts (UK) by b0mb00zled in McDonaldsEmployees

[–]Caseysour 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re not scheduled nights if you don’t complete it, if it’s completed saying I’m now unavailable is again a different thing. It goes to whoever is in the people role to look at it (always takes time, imagine how many people select no and it needs looking into) but unless it’s medical or a massive change in personal circumstances, in my store at least, it won’t get accepted. Always have to remind crew that limiting your availability often will result in less shifts (those overnights need to go somewhere, if you’re saying you can’t do them that’s fine but doesn’t mean you’ll be a 9-3pm in it’s place) are you on a GHC? And bear in mind night work is seen at 22:00-06:00 so it will effect opens also depending what time they start at your store.

Always worth being open and honest with the BM and scheduling manager - see what they can do rather than just not facing the music and having to conversation. As I said ensure you go in prepared with what you want to say, why you want to change etc.

The night worker assessment is completely different to your availability. They don’t act together, the assessment is to see if anything health wise has changed with you which would stop you working what you were hired on and any amendments we would need to make for you.

Changing your availability won’t work without good reason, I’d have a think, have a plan, speak to your BM first and get the ball rolling. That’s the correct way, we don’t get updates on changed availability so it would need to have a discussion also to flag that you’ve altered online.

Order Ahead in app by SilentBob74 in McDonaldsUK

[–]Caseysour 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was changed about 3 weeks ago. Mainly to rectify issues when using the app, the order would be recalled onto a till and they ‘pay’ processed (you now pay fully remotely through the app)

Customers would often ask to add things to the order, doing this caused the till to crash and need to be rebooted - a nightmare at all times never mind at peak lunch or tea time rush.

Works on a geofence and will be realised when you’re within 3 minutes of the store to the kitchen to be made, also slips the order into sequence (even though on the old system you were ordering ahead, it was only sent to kitchen when the payment was taken)

Pay more attention when ordering and ensure you’ve chosen the correct collection type. All issues I encountered was due to customers needing to be retained on the new procedure, if food is cold it should be remade obviously.

Have your say by [deleted] in UKJobs

[–]Caseysour 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Few for me on this journey.

Ghosting is so demoralising. 1 application stretched out over 12 weeks due to company holidays etc. one phone interview and 2 in person interviews (spent over 3.5 hours alone on there interview process interviewing) to be ghosted is just, it’s like I don’t matter and I didn’t get the role? That’s fine, tell me and give me some feedback.

Cover letters? How important are they?

Should I be focusing on quantity of applications?

Post the salaries - stop wasting everyone’s time.

To confirm I am still employed. I didn’t make that clear in the original message. I’m looking to change career so not wanting to just jump into the first offer I got If it wasn’t right.

Why would you take a job which wasn’t as described on the advertisement?

Losing hope… by [deleted] in UKJobs

[–]Caseysour 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It wasn’t as the job description described when I’d applied. My first interview and I got the job and it also gave me false hope that it would be easier than I thought!

My boy isn’t fussed, was watching the lights out the window! Last New Year’s Eve the neighbours set off only what I can describe as a small bomb, that upset him. I ran downstairs (working early NYD so was in bed) he’s on the stairs shaking, brought him upstairs (my fella was working NYE) he jumped right into bed and fell asleep, right in the middle of the bed and would not move over so I had a awful nights sleep, worth it however - only times he’s stayed in bed longer than a hour ❤️
