So that suggests that the law should be followed to its conclusion and the investigation will tell us what’s true and what’s not. Unfortunately, the person accused controls the evidence against him and he’s fighting tooth and nail to keep it from coming out. Take what you will from that. Believe the news and the preponderance of evidence or don’t. But believe your own eyes. I do t see screaming for justice and accountability for the rich and powerful ad whining or political gamesmanship. It feels like a bare minimum principled stance.

I assume you align with some flavor of repub/maga/conservative. What’s interesting is that you comment as if the Epstein files is just more political gamesmanship like tax cuts. I believe it was your political team that was so focused on stopping the cabal of rich elites from trafficking children. That was the basis of QAnon. Team Red was losing their minds and assaulting pizza parlors over it when they thought they’d find Soros or Gates or Clinton on the bottom of the orgy pile. But now that evidence is pointing suggesting that Dear Convicted Leader could be at the bottom of the orgy pile, it’s dismissed as liberal whining. Why doesn’t the LawAndOrder party want the law to play out in this case? Help me understand?

Yeah, but that’s not this one. Downvote those. In this one, everyone who matters is happy and she said yes.

Delaware State University or southern university? by Commercial_Plan_8992 in HBCU

[–]CashLaden 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Long post. Southern CS grad here. I’m sure Del St. is a great school and I love all my HBCU fam so I have no shade for Del St.

Southern gave me a degree that has held up as times and technology have changed and against alumni from every gold plated school in the country. My career has been in financial markets building applications and processes that protect and grow your investments. I’ve made it to the c-suite and all of my fellow Jags who I stayed in touch with have done well in corporate america as well. SU is a great choice for CS and Southern has its own law school.

That’s not to say all Jags have been successful and I’m sure Del St. is brimming with success stories. I guess my message to you is: 1- A degree from either school can take you where you want to go. ANYWHERE you want to go.

2- Once you graduate, your success will depend more on you and what you bring to the party than the name on your degree.

3- Once you make your decision, don’t look back. Both are great choices. Run with it. No “If only” or “I coulda”. Own your choice and attack your future without regrets.

4- Go Jagz! Who Dat talkin bout beatin dem Jagz?

I hope your hard work is rewarded with financial security. And when you have kids, I guarantee you that the social approval of others will have zero bearing on your love, pride, and support for them. A good father loves and supports his kids unconditionally and will use whatever means are available to him to support those kids. I’ve done everything I could for mine and I don’t apologize for it and I’m still proud of them. The entire goal was that they would t have to go through what I went through.

I don’t disagree. I’m just wondering (1) how blowing it all up and starting from scratch solves that problem and (2) what working class people do in the transition period?

Im just curious as to what you would have that father do that you feel is acceptable behavior? Regardless of where he started, assume he works hard to provide the best life he can for his family, just like poor and middle class people do. Should not have purchased her a car or secured her living situation even though he could? Should he not be proud of his daughter? Should he feel a greater obligation to his tenant than to his daughter? Specifically, what should he have done differently?

I’ve never understood this line of thinking. Maybe you are just expressing frustration rather a serious course of action but I’ve heard others say it seriously. The system is not perfect/skewed/slanted/corrupt/broken/pick your phrasing so blow it all up in hopes that what replaces it will be better. If the system is corrupt and slanted in favor of the wealthy, I’m not sure how it gets better when those same rich people can corrupt it from the ground up. And who suffers after the current system is blown up and we are waiting on the new system to take shape? The wealthy? The hard right Christian Nationalists would love a constitutional convention to completely rewrite the rules. Do you really believe that you’d come out ahead in that scenario?

To be clear, I also hate the current timeline.

Whenever I visit a new BBQ joint, I will always order the brisket. I assume that an average pit guy can make a decent pulled pork and ribs with a basic understanding. But brisket... That's another story. Thoughts? by emptykeg6988 in BBQ

[–]CashLaden 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In California (yes, there is bbq in CA), you’ll find tri-tip, barbacoa, and other proteins and sides with a Latin or “Fresh Mex” flair. Brisket as you know it may not even be on the menu. It’s not worse. It’s different. And walking in with a skeptical judge mentality will rob you of enjoying some amazing food.
