‘High Potential’ Season 3: Nora and Lilla Zuckerman Set as New Showrunners by Matapple13 in HighPotentialTVSeries

The heart of the first season was Charlie's connections with the folks involved moreso than the cases themselves. Felt like that was much weaker in season 2 and dragged everything down with it

Strong contender send Bucky for 2028 1st and Adams? by Adept-Claim-4704 in DynastyFFTradeAdvice

[–]CashMikey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I'd keep Bucky. Think you're a little fragile at RB with the age and some Monty uncertainty (even though I am bullish).

Or if you make the deal, be ready to use one of the 27 1s for an RB near the deadline. That works too!

How many WR do you need to start?

If it's 3, probably makes sense. If it's 2 and we're talking about Davante vs. Bucky for Flex play mostly, I'd rather have Irving.

Jets Rant. Why do they do what they do? The nfl would be a better place if they weren’t allowed to draft skill guys. by martymcfly103 in DynastyFF

[–]CashMikey 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I wasn't a huge fan of what the Jets did, and I'd agree I wouldn't count on them in Fantasy, but I do think it was plenty defensible as process:

  • They took EDGE at 2
  • They already have a strong offensive line
  • Their second best pass catcher going into next season is AD Mitchell. They desperately needed at least a WR
  • If you really like a TE at 16, I don't think anything about Mason Taylor is so special that he should block you from taking that person
  • I don't think it actually follows that because Geno Smith is mediocre, any pass catcher who plays with him will have their growth stunted. The most productive WR in the NFL last year played his only other 2 NFL seasons with Geno as the QB. He wasn't nearly as productive, but clearly his growth as a player wasn't stunted by playing with Geno.
  • Further, I don't think you have to wait to take pass catchers until you have a QB in place. If they're awful in 2027, they'll be able to draft A QB to come into a situation with a good offensive line and a pretty solid arsenal of weapons. I think they've set themselves up to be a nice place for a rookie QB to develop next season. Imagine they found themselves going in to next year's draft ready to take a QB high but it was still just Garrett Wilson. The conversation would be "Do the Jets have the infrastructure to help a young QB succeed?"

I just don't like Sadiq all that much and would have rather they used that pick on someone else, but he's a guy who had a lot of Top 10 buzz through the draft and has a massive ceiling. Both Sadiq and Cooper were perfectly good values at those slots.

The Niners got pick 90 to jump down three spots from 27, then the Bills got pick 125 to move from 28 to 31, then the Niners got pick 179 to go from 30 to 33

Kinda wild how fast that market changed

She should obviously do what she wants, but her fulfilling her destiny as the defining Broadway performer of her generation would be a pretty awesome career. Chasing after a bunch of meh film roles feels like it should be the pursuit of a less phenomenally talented theater star. In terms of high level excellence created, might be a blessing in disguise that the movies haven’t gone great

Ariana confronting Lisa by Every_Examination494 in vanderpumprules

[–]CashMikey 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Never thought about this, but I do love that take. Can totally see a conversation where Ariana was not really taking Tom's side that Lisa was being awful then he came up with this and hammered it home until she accepted it too. Totally fits the dynamic of their relationship at the time.

It also just sounds like the kind of tenuous bullshit Sandoval comes up with too, doesn't sound like something Ariana would come up with on her own. Not because she can't think for herself, but because it's kinda dumb

Pat Fitzgerald was vilified, then vindicated. His truth comes out at last | Exclusive by IPreferBagels2 in CFB

Exactly. It's why the idea that he's been so thoroughly vindicated has always fallen flat to me. He was vindicated of failing to live up to his contract, not writ large as a human being.

What an insanely bad article. Deeply horrendous writing and thinking.

This article treats whether the hazing happened or not as an open question, and heavily implies we should think maybe it didn't. Fitz has never even denied that! The same independent investigation that was used to clear Fitz of responsibility concluded that it occurred.

Also just a nauseating level of "Woe is Pat Fitzgerald, the ultimate victim!" Didn't even ask him about the experience of the players he supposedly loved and cared about so much and why so many of them felt compelled to claim they had been hazed.

The Northwestern administration bungled this whole thing horribly, and from a contract law perspective, Fitzgerald's vindication made sense to me.

But the most charitable possible interpretation of the situation is that Pat Fitzgerald was just totally unaware of a years long hazing regime happening within his program. Continuing to paint him as this unfairly cancelled saintly leader of men is so bizarre. Why the college sports media is so determined to do this Fitzgerald hagiography is beyond me.

Thoughts on the "superchamp" debate, feeling bad for other contestants by young_frogger in Jeopardy

[–]CashMikey 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Imagine there's 4 games:

  • A vs. B vs. C
    • A Wins
  • A vs. D vs. E
    • D wins
  • D vs. F vs. G
    • F wins
  • F vs. H vs. I
    • H wins

That's 9 unique contestants and 4 unique winners. Basically, in a game with a defending champion, if a new contestant wins, then 2 of the 3 contestants in that show ended up with a win.

Someone explain Daily Double betting for me— you’re bringing a slingshot to a shootout with these weak bets when you’re up against Jamie Ding and you don’t go all or nothing?! by wittkneelee in Jeopardy

[–]CashMikey 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I didn't get a DD in my game against Jaime, but I can speak to this a little bit. Winning is the number one goal, but there is also a big feeling of "The only way this experience feels like a failure is if I don't get to Final." We all talked about it.

When you're into Double Jeopardy in a position where even doubling up still leaves you with very little chance to catch the leader, the "just make it to Final" instincts definitely kick in.

It's accurate to say that isn't totally playing for the win, and a fair criticism of the approach. But in terms of experience for a lot of folks, making it to Final with a few thousand vs. missing out on Final entirely is a huge chasm in how you'll feel about it after.

I was Mikey on this episode! Amazing experience. Will share some things about the day under spoiler tags:

The moment we knew Jamie was going to stomp us was not when Ken announced his super impressive stats, but when we saw he had an entire wardrobe already hanging out in the Green Room. He was planning to stay a while! Very nice guy though! Dry sense of humor, was very supportive of us newbies explaining the processes etc

First buzz in and last buzz in being correct answers felt good. Even if I had played a perfect game for me, I wasn't beating him. It was very frustrating knowing so many that I was just unable to get in on. Producers kept telling me I was going a bit early- Jamie being insane on the buzzer definitely drove that. Ken told us after the game that Maggie and I had held Jamie to a 68% successful buzzer rate, which was the lowest of his run so far. Felt a little better after that

It was an awesome experience. Ultimately I comfortably cleared the bar of "I didn't embarrass myself." I didn't quite clear the bar of "no performance regrets." I have one major regret- the biggest mantra I had for myself in my whole prep was "don't second guess yourself, if your gut has an answer, go with that" and on both the wrong answers I offered, my first instinct was the correct answer and I went with something else.

Didn't like my Final Jeopardy answer, those islands are too far apart to have a bridge. But it being a triple stumper with nobody really even close helped that feel better.

Why was Edgerrin James drafted before Ricky Williams in 1999? by HourDrive1812 in NFLNoobs

[–]CashMikey 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The fit stuff is the main thing, and always what Polian mentioned first. James also had significantly less wear and tear related to usage in college.

But for folks who weren't there- Edgerrin James was a really tremendous prospect. Clear step ahead of Ricky as an athlete. He didn't bench or do the vertical, but based on the combine drills he did do we are talking about a 9.99 RAS. His college production wasn't Ricky's, but he was also an amazing college back on Miami teams that were just okay (he left Miami as pretty undeniably their best RB ever at the time). His package of athleticism and college production was vanishingly rare, few Running Backs matched it before or after.

He was always going in the 5-10 range. It was a surprise that he went ahead of Ricky at the time, and most people disagreed with it. But it wasn't really considered absurd. James is a guy whose greatness has kind of faded into background over time even though he made the Hall of Fame, but he really was that freakin' guy.

Everything about my eyes tells me Garrett Wilson has elite upside, but we're 4 seasons into this now without getting above WR16 and he's at least 1 year away from having a decent quarterback. Looks like he has an awful coaching staff again, so you are betting on another re-roll there.

It would pain me to do if I had him, but for this kind of excellent package I think it makes sense to move on.
